Ah, the calm before the storm.\u00a0 I have this weekend completely off before the next seventeen days of misery and isolation.\u00a0 So, I\u2019ll enjoy these two days to the hilt and then, \u201cabandon all hope ye who enter here.\u201d\u00a0 For what it\u2019s worth it seems like Trump is enjoying himself a lot more than Kamala.\u00a0 Her cackling has diminished and her ranting seems to have replaced it.\u00a0 From everything I\u2019ve heard she is a truly awful person that makes those around her miserable.\u00a0 If she loses, I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if her marriage ends and many of her other connections to human society.<\/p>\n
The latest \u201ccontroversy\u201d is that Democrat voters will be using the branding\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 ,LA<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0(get it, comma la) on their clothing to get around the restrictions against wearing the candidates\u2019 names or images at the polling place.\u00a0 So, we\u2019ve reached back to, I guess, kindergarten or at most grammar school in our tactics.\u00a0 What\u2019s next, will the Democrats be telling \u201cyo mamma\u201d jokes?<\/p>\n Anyway, the weather around Dunwich has been remarkably mellow for this time of year.\u00a0 I understand we\u2019re expected to have a string of three or four 75-degree days ending on Tuesday.\u00a0 That\u2019s phenomenal.\u00a0 But because I\u2019ve gotten used to fall weather, it\u2019s almost too warm for comfort.<\/p>\n I wrote that post about Sony adding focus bracketing to their firmware update for my A7IV camera.\u00a0 I intended to wait until after my captivity before updating the firmware but it\u2019s killing me to not try it out.\u00a0 I think I\u2019ll bite the bullet tomorrow morning.\u00a0 I have this dead luna moth that I found this summer and I\u2019d love to play around with focus stacking it.\u00a0 Well, we\u2019ll see.\u00a0 Tomorrow is a busy day.\u00a0 We have a kid\u2019s birthday party coming up and I\u2019m sure Camera Girl has a laundry list of honey-do\u2019s lined up for me.\u00a0 And honestly there are several things I should be working on anyway.\u00a0 So even if I update the camera I may have to wait.<\/p>\n It should be interesting to see how the country changes regardless of who \u201cwins\u201d the election.\u00a0 I think there\u2019s a growing cohort that realizes that something is very broken with our whole social order.\u00a0 The fragmentation now extends to a polarization by sex.\u00a0 Younger women and men are lining up in opposition to each other philosophically.\u00a0 I really do believe we are seeing the beginning of a permanent split.\u00a0 Basically, women who have accepted the new template for living for a career will not be having children.\u00a0 And that means that men will have to find wives who want to have children elsewhere.\u00a0 I guess mail order overseas brides will become more the rule than the exception and over time the cat ladies will die out.\u00a0 Well, that\u2019s a solution of sorts.<\/p>\n The \u201cOctober Viewing\u201d movies has been fun for me but it\u2019s gotten me thinking about what a monster is.\u00a0 Is it only freakish creatures like Dracula and Frankenstein\u2019s monster or can it be a man like Hannibal Lecter or Norman Bates?\u00a0 Obviously, the actual humans are scarier because they really exist.\u00a0 When you hear about the things that Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer did to their victims you understand that inside they truly are monsters.\u00a0 So maybe creating fairy tale creatures like the movie monsters is a way of distracting ourselves from the true horrors that we don\u2019t want to contemplate.\u00a0 But our society has grown up and now we prefer to scare ourselves with realistic monsters.\u00a0 I remember when I read Thomas Harris\u2019s \u201cRed Dragon\u201d back in the 1980\u2019s it struck me as an interesting crime story and nothing more.\u00a0 But when I thought about the way that that the murderer selected his victim families by working in a photo lab that developed family home movies, it chilled me to the core.\u00a0 If a motivated psychopath could select his victims without any direct connection to him then how could anyone hope to protect his family from this random agent of horrifying destruction?\u00a0 Basically, you can\u2019t.\u00a0 Random chance rules all of our lives.\u00a0 That I found horrifying.\u00a0 So maybe I should include \u201cPsycho\u201d and \u201cSilence of the Lambs\u201d in my October Viewings.\u00a0 Or maybe that would take away some of the fun.\u00a0 Well, October is waning I better hurry up and make up my mind.\u00a0 What do you folks think?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Ah, the calm before the storm.\u00a0 I have this weekend completely off before the next seventeen days of misery and isolation.\u00a0 So, I\u2019ll enjoy these<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5,818],"tags":[3344,580,3216],"class_list":["post-30969","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-current-events","category-ocf","tag-2024-elections","tag-ocf-update","tag-this-n-that"],"yoast_head":"\n
