{"id":3179,"date":"2018-06-05T05:04:26","date_gmt":"2018-06-05T09:04:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=3179"},"modified":"2018-06-05T05:04:26","modified_gmt":"2018-06-05T09:04:26","slug":"a-sony-fan-lost-boy-finally-arrives-in-the-promised-land","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2018\/06\/05\/a-sony-fan-lost-boy-finally-arrives-in-the-promised-land\/","title":{"rendered":"A Sony Fan-Lost-Boy Finally Arrives in the Promised Land"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post is only for the long suffering Sony A-mount users.\u00a0 You know who you are.\u00a0 You bought the A900 or the A850 and you were looking forward to Sony re-issuing all those great Minolta lenses and competing head to head with the Nikon D3S.\u00a0 You saw nothing but upside from a technology powerhouse like Sony improving the DSLR.\u00a0 And then they pulled the rug out from under you. Translucent mirrors that lost a half stop of light.\u00a0 LED viewfinders that lagged by a second or two when you triggered the shutter.\u00a0 And then the true mirrorless camera with contrast detect autofocus that didn&#8217;t focus.\u00a0 The NEX series that was unbelievably small but suffering from all these problems.\u00a0 And then the A7 cameras.\u00a0 Series one then series two.\u00a0 Painstaking progress.\u00a0 Slowly the potential of the mirrorless becoming real but always something still missing.\u00a0 And then the A9 the camera that had all the pieces!\u00a0 And a $4,500 price tag!<\/p>\n<p>But now, the A7 III.\u00a0 Oh my brothers I just must joyously exclaim.\u00a0 It is a real camera made by Sony.\u00a0 Hallelujah, hallelujah, halleleujah. The joy of picking a point in the viewfinder, half-pressing<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3124\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3124\" style=\"width: 2590px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3124\" src=\"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DSC01598.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2590\" height=\"3571\" srcset=\"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DSC01598.jpg 2590w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DSC01598-218x300.jpg 218w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DSC01598-768x1059.jpg 768w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DSC01598-743x1024.jpg 743w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2590px) 100vw, 2590px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3124\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sony A7 III with Sony 55mm F\\1.8<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>the shutter and seeing the autofocus work instantly and precisely.\u00a0 I could barely see the result through my tears of joy.\u00a0 Huzzah, huzzah.\u00a0 Never again would I focus, then magnify, then manually refocus to save the shot.\u00a0 Now I go through the pictures afterward and every shot is perfectly focused.\u00a0 And ISO 800 and 1600 and 3200 are perfectly usable and even ISO 6400 is often fine!\u00a0 And if I want to do a macro shot with a non macro lens I use magnify to get precise focus on the exact spot I want and the 24 megapixels give me plenty of room to crop.<\/p>\n<p>Nirvana, Valhalla, Heaven, Elysium, Paradise.\u00a0 I&#8217;m home.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t need to wait or hope or give up and change systems.\u00a0 It&#8217;s done.\u00a0 I&#8217;m there.<\/p>\n<p>Sony you are finally forgiven for keeping me out in the wilderness all these years.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This post is only for the long suffering Sony A-mount users.\u00a0 You know who you are.\u00a0 You bought the A900 or the A850 and you<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[660,3,659],"tags":[33,1125,20,32,330,1063,1124],"class_list":["post-3179","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-camera-reviews","category-photography","category-photography-reviews","tag-mirrorless","tag-nex","tag-sony","tag-sony-a7-cameras","tag-sony-a7-iii","tag-sony-a850","tag-sony-a900"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.4 -
