referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Ah, Groundhog Day.\u00a0 When northern America as one embraces a Bill Murray movie and tries to figure out a way to survive until winter gives up.\u00a0 After a remarkably mild 2023\/2024 winter, cold weather has reasserted itself and I have embraced the reality that I don\u2019t live in a rational climate.\u00a0 The pattern is one day of freezing rain and the next night, zero degrees Fahrenheit.\u00a0 This is an extremely unhelpful arrangement.\u00a0 Almost any depth of snow can be removed.\u00a0 0-4 inches is handled with a snow shovel.\u00a0 2-22 inches yields, for the most part to a snowblower or plow.\u00a0 After that it get trickier, but it can still be done.\u00a0 And the resulting cleared surface is generally very usable for walking and driving your car on.<\/p>\n<p>A quarter to a half inch of ice is a disaster.\u00a0 If the ground was very cold when the rain fell and then the air temperature dropped quickly and even worse if the wind really picked up, you end up with a layer that is almost impossible to remove unless you put road salt on it.\u00a0 Unfortunately, I use well water so I don\u2019t salt my driveway.\u00a0 That\u2019s very unfortunate.\u00a0 Instead, I take a garden rake or a roofer\u2019s shovel and I abrade the surface of the ice and then I sand it and then scrape it again to lodge the sand in the surface.\u00a0 This works but it is extremely labor intensive.\u00a0 So, I hate rain in the winter.\u00a0 And lately it has become a very frequent occurrence.<\/p>\n<p>Alright, enough whining.<\/p>\n<p>So, what\u2019s new?\u00a0 Well, tariffs.\u00a0 Trump has tariffs for Canada, Mexico, China and I assume a lot of other places.\u00a0 And I hear he\u2019s suspending all aid to South Africa while an investigation of anti-white land seizures and other worse actions is performed.\u00a0 Wow.\u00a0 Trump is going full steam ahead.\u00a0 Every day I ask myself, \u201cWhat\u2019s left to do?\u00a0 Nothing.\u201d\u00a0 But then he does three more things.\u00a0 One of the things I\u2019m very happy about is that Trump is cutting off the money supply to the NGO\u2019s.\u00a0 These organizations are funded by the US government but work directly against the interests and sometimes against the very laws of this country.\u00a0 Here we are spending billions of dollars to eject illegal aliens while charities are spending billions of tax-payer dollars to feed, house and hide these very same illegal aliens.\u00a0 Cutting off their funds is the most effective and fastest method of combatting the problem.\u00a0 I\u2019ll give him credit; Trump is proving to be a force to be reckoned with.\u00a0 I don\u2019t want to get my hopes up too high but it seems to me that there is a very good chance that he\u2019s going to \u201cfundamentally change the United States,\u201d but for the better.\u00a0 Sort of an anti-Obama.<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy, Gabbard and Patel are up for votes in the Senate this week.\u00a0 If I were to guess I\u2019d say all three will need Vance as the tie-breaking vote.\u00a0 And that\u2019s actually me being optimistic.\u00a0 There are some truly terrible Republicans in the Senate.\u00a0 McConnel voted against Hegseth because he gets money from defense contractors and they\u2019re worried Hegseth and Trump will end the gravy train.\u00a0 I think it\u2019s possible he\u2019ll vote to confirm Patel because he doesn\u2019t get paid by any lobby associated with the FBI.\u00a0 Now there are plenty of Senators that get paid by the pharma lobby.\u00a0 This might cause Kenedy to be rejected.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update: Hat Tip to Tom D for the data<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_32123\" think Vance will break the tie.\u00a0 So, I guess I\u2019m cautiously optimistic.\u00a0 Hopefully that\u2019s more accurate than Democrats being nauseously optimistic on Kamala\u2019s election prospects.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re getting 2-4 inches of snow tonight (they say).\u00a0 I\u2019ll be up very early to clear that before going to work tomorrow.\u00a0 This will be a hectic week with some travel toward the end.\u00a0 But I\u2019ll be dutifully following the news coming from the Trump White House (the Greatest Show on Earth).\u00a0 I keep waiting to hear that he\u2019s declassified the
