February has been keeping me busy with snow and ice removal.\u00a0 Three snowfalls in one week are predicted.\u00a0 And the day job has been hectic.\u00a0 But I\u2019ve managed to write several thousand words on my story this week which is pretty good.\u00a0 I follow as best I can in the news how Trump is doing in his epic assault on the \u201cmanagerial state.\u201d\u00a0 We\u2019ve reached the point in the dance where various Obama-appointed federal judges will veto everything he does.\u00a0 It\u2019ll be interesting to see if he honors the decisions or just ignores them.\u00a0 I rather hope he just goes full speed ahead and deals with the consequences later.\u00a0 It would be so much quicker to just make the changes and let the Deep State deal with a fait accompli.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t see the game but I watched a few minutes of post-Super Bowl celebrations going on in Philadelphia.\u00a0 A mob of inebriated cretinous goons combined their strength to yank a traffic light pole out of the ground<\/a>, smash it with their hands and feet and then throw into the back of an enormous dump truck that they somehow got their hands on.\u00a0 Unfortunately, it fell out of the truck and onto several of their fellow rioters.\u00a0 But obviously a good time was had by all.\u00a0 Ah, the transformative energy of sports.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure the City of Brotherly Love will rise to new heights on the spiritual boost this championship will provide.\u00a0 Well, anyway, the rioting, looting and arson probably won\u2019t continue much past Monday.<\/p>\n

The world situation grows more chaotic by the week.\u00a0 The Gaza ceasefire and prisoner exchange seems to be wobbling and the Ukraine war grinds brutally on.\u00a0 Trump\u2019s latest tariff project seems to involve imports of aluminum and steel.\u00a0 I believe we get a lot of aluminum from Canada.\u00a0 The hydroelectricity in Quebec makes Canadian aluminum competitive with any other world producers.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure if Trump is taking another slap at Trudeau.\u00a0 I think a lot of the steel comes out of China.\u00a0 I wonder if Trump is serious about that.\u00a0 It would be a real shot across the bow of Xi Jinping\u2019s economy.\u00a0 We\u2019ll see.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m curious to see if Trump will give a speech where he lays out his big plan for the changes he\u2019s making to government spending.\u00a0 I mean, it\u2019s great that he\u2019s shutting down the patronage and pork at USAID and other left-wing fronts.\u00a0 And reducing the federal payroll by as much as possible is also admirable.\u00a0 But I tend to think that he has some bigger, more comprehensive program in the works.\u00a0 Now maybe he wants to wait until he\u2019s put out some of these fires like the judges blocking his executive orders.\u00a0 And maybe he\u2019s working with the Congressional Republicans to push forward some large bill that contains a lot of the items he intends to use to transform the economy.\u00a0 But right now, it\u2019s very hard to tell what\u2019s going forward and what\u2019s been halted.<\/p>\n

I guess I\u2019ll have to be patient for a few more weeks.\u00a0 After all he hasn\u2019t been in office even a month yet.\u00a0 It just seems longer because of all the activity he\u2019s produced.\u00a0 I\u2019m impatiently waiting for Patel, Kennedy and Gabbard to get their votes in the Senate.\u00a0 I feel like that\u2019s dragging.\u00a0 But that\u2019s not Trump\u2019s fault.\u00a0 The Senate Republicans are a sorry looking lot and can barely keep from tripping over their own feet.\u00a0 But one thing I\u2019d like to hear about is how many generals Pete Hegseth has fired this week.\u00a0 I think maybe that\u2019s the metric I would use to gauge the effectiveness of the Trump administration.\u00a0 Yep that\u2019s the one.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
