I used to enjoy Tim Allen\u2019s show, \u201cHome Improvement\u201d on ABC back in the 1990\u2019s.\u00a0 Then in the twenty-teens he had another show on ABC called, \u201cLast Man Standing.\u201d\u00a0 It was a funny show.\u00a0 He played a conservative guy who lived in Colorado and he railed against his liberal daughter and her hippy-dippy Canadian husband.\u00a0 But then in 2016 he made a few jokes against Hillary Clinton and for Donald Trump and they cancelled the show.\u00a0 Eventually, Fox TV decided to bring the show back but it never recovered.<\/p>\n
Now Allen is back on ABC with a show called \u201cShifting Gears.\u201d\u00a0 He\u2019s the owner of a high-end auto shop with a divorced daughter with two kids.\u00a0 It\u2019s incredibly bad.\u00a0 It\u2019s full of stereotypes.\u00a0 He even has a black paraplegic mechanic who \u201ckeeps it real.\u201d\u00a0 All the dialog is awful and the characters are predictable and inane.\u00a0 From time-to-time Tim gets off a funny line or bit.\u00a0 Who knows maybe they\u2019re adlibbed.\u00a0 You can tell he\u2019s still as funny as he ever was.\u00a0 They just don\u2019t give him anything at all to work with.<\/p>\n
So Hollywood is dead.\u00a0 There\u2019s just nothing left.\u00a0 The studios have a racial and sexual quota system for almost every function in the industry.\u00a0 I can\u2019t even imagine how stupid and programmed the writers must be.\u00a0 What I saw tonight looked like a parody of what a sit-com would be if woke writers followed the dictates of the DEI mandates.\u00a0 It was unimaginably bad.<\/p>\n
But I\u2019m going to take this as good news.\u00a0 ABC is owned by Disney.\u00a0 And Disney has produced a string of bombs over the last couple of years that can\u2019t have escaped the notice of Wall Street.\u00a0 There will be a reckoning one way or the other.\u00a0 Either they will course correct and produce entertainment that people want to pay to see or they will lose money and the stock holders will sell and they will lose many billions of dollars in equity and the Board of directors will bounce Bob Iger out on his ear.<\/p>\n
Iger was brought out of retirement when the former CEO got in a pissing contest with Ron DeSantis in Florida over the rainbow people that Disney has adopted as their most important constituency.\u00a0 Since then, they\u2019ve doubled down on gayness and it\u2019s had a very serious negative effect on their business.\u00a0 It\u2019s made their latest Star Wars television production, \u201cThe Acolyte\u201d so unwatchable that they had to pull the plug on it after the first season.\u00a0 And now their latest live-action remake of the classic cartoons of the 1930\u2019s, \u201cSnow White\u201d is predicted to lose hundreds of millions of dollars.<\/p>\n
I think 2025 may be the year that Disney has their epiphany.\u00a0 They destroyed Star Wars.\u00a0 They chloroformed the, \u201cIndiana Jones\u201d franchise and now even their Marvel movies have been infected with boring woke characters like, \u201cThe Marvels\u201d and are losing money.\u00a0 If they can\u2019t even make a decent princess movie for little girls they\u2019re cooked.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been following the reviews and the industry gossips and it seems like everyone thinks the reckoning is imminent.\u00a0 We\u2019ll see.<\/p>\n
So, farewell Tim Allen.\u00a0 \u201cHome Improvement\u201d and \u201cLast Man Standing\u201d were funny and sometimes heartwarming too.\u00a0 But you\u2019re not going to get anything worth doing at ABC until they really do switch gears at Disney.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
