{"id":33669,"date":"2025-06-25T05:00:14","date_gmt":"2025-06-25T09:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=33669"},"modified":"2025-06-24T22:07:39","modified_gmt":"2025-06-25T02:07:39","slug":"moon-mining","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/25\/moon-mining\/","title":{"rendered":"Moon Mining"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/theweek.com\/science\/moon-platinum-exploitation-china-russia?refid=75FFC898AD6883CBB120FC6A86C62323&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=afternoon_newsletter_20250623&amp;utm_source=afternoon_newsletter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article claims<\/a> that enough asteroids have struck the moon over time that inevitably there are enough deposits of valuable metals to make mining the Moon worthwhile:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>There might be more than $1 trillion worth of platinum deposits on the\u00a0<u>moon<\/u>, according to a paper published in the journal\u00a0<u>Planetary and Space Science<\/u>. Of the 1.3 million craters on the moon with a diameter greater than one kilometer, &#8220;nearly 6,500 were made by asteroids containing commercial quantities of platinum,&#8221; said\u00a0<u>New Scientist<\/u>.
