There\u2019s an old Air Force expression, “If you’re not catching flak, you’re not over the target.”\u00a0 Well the White House and the Cabinet are certainly taking plenty of flak.\u00a0 And I\u2019m pretty sure it\u2019s because they\u2019re over the target.\u00a0 Yesterday I saw this headline\u00a0 51% favor wall<\/a> .\u00a0 And at the same time the media and the craziest of the Dems (e.g. Maxine Waters) started advocating harassing anyone to the right of Nancy Pelosi,\u00a0\u00a0Dems gin up a mob to harass the White House<\/a>\u00a0 .\u00a0 It got so bad that Schumer and Pelosi had to come out publicly condemning open calls for harassment.\u00a0 I\u2019m guessing that the Dems are starting to see the handwriting on the wall.\u00a0 They\u2019ve gone from blustering about a blue tsunami to whistling past the graveyard, to full panic mode.\u00a0 Of course, desperation can spark irrational behavior and that can have unexpected results but on the whole, it looks to me like a sea change is beginning to occur in public opinion.\u00a0 When the public sees Italy closing its ports to refugee boats and even the Germans demanding an end to open borders it\u2019s hard to not see the writing on the wall.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s next?\u00a0 Will Jeb Bush and Bill Kristol show up wearing MAGA hats and asking for face time with the President?\u00a0 Hopefully not but I wouldn\u2019t be shocked to see them begin the great rapprochement.\u00a0 After all, the GOP establishment hated Reagan\u2019s guts until he conquered the world.\u00a0 Then they canonized him.<\/p>\n

As I stated previously, I\u2019ve gone full-Pollyanna on the future under Trump and so I\u2019m slightly delusional but I suspect that even the deepest pessimists are starting to see daylight.<\/p>\n

Of course, the real test is when CNN or MSNBC switches sides.\u00a0 Expect to see Satan wearing mittens and a parka but don\u2019t be too surprised when it happens.\u00a0 My guess is if the midterms go particularly well for the Republicans and Mueller throws in the towel then the floodgates will open and it will be everybody jumping on board the Trump Train.<\/p>\n
