Starfleet Academy \u2013 A Rant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Paramount spent somewhere north of a hundred million dollars on a tv series called \u201cStar Trek &#8211; Starfleet Academy.\u201d\u00a0 I guess they realized after the fact that it was unwatchable and so they put the first episode on YouTube for free.\u00a0 But nobody watched it.\u00a0 Now that\u2019s an exaggeration.\u00a0\u00a0 Technically thirteen hundred (1,300) people viewed it.\u00a0 But on YouTube that\u2019s equivalent to zero.<\/p>\n<p>So basically, they spent a hundred million dollars on something that no one wants to see.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"CLIP: Star Trek: Starfleet Academy &quot;The Doctor&quot;\" width=\"783\" height=\"440\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KZozc3tgAPM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>If you watch the trailer you\u2019ll understand why.\u00a0 Starfleet Academy seems to be made up of fat lesbians.\u00a0 Some are human, some are alien but all of them are fat and all of them are lesbians.\u00a0 Once again this is an exaggeration.\u00a0 They also have Holly Hunter as the captain or head schoolmarm or something.\u00a0 And I believe there is a gay Klingon.\u00a0 So, yay.<\/p>\n<p>Just as with Star Wars, Star Trek has finally reached the epitome of destruction.\u00a0 Over the course of the last sixty years or so it went from a mildly entertaining sci-fi adventure series to a Woke DEI Struggle Session.\u00a0 Well, who wouldn\u2019t pay to see that?<\/p>\n<p>As with Star Wars, the makers of this new show miscalculated something about the audience and their products.\u00a0 And it\u2019s this:\u00a0 The audience that enjoys the \u201cmessage\u201d they\u2019re pushing in these shows doesn\u2019t like science fiction.\u00a0 And the audience that likes science fiction doesn\u2019t like their \u201cmessage.\u201d\u00a0 It\u2019s like that day in math class where they explain Venn diagrams and unions and intersections and all that jazz.\u00a0 Well, the circle of people who like the message and the circle of people who like science fiction do not intersect at all; open space between the blue and red circles.\u00a0 No purple.<\/p>\n<p>This show was green-lit before Paramount was purchased by David Ellison.\u00a0 He isn\u2019t woke.\u00a0 I\u2019m guessing that losing a hundred million dollars on a show nobody wants to see is going to make him very mad.\u00a0 Hopefully this will result in the series being cancelled and the team responsible for this travesty being fired.<\/p>\n<p>Coincidentally, Kathleen Kennedy has just been fired from running Lucas Films over at Disney.\u00a0 It was described as her desire to get back to personally producing pictures for Disney but I\u2019m pretty sure they\u2019ve had enough of her \u201cgolden touch.\u201d\u00a0 She singlehandedly incinerated the Star Wars brand and lost many hundreds of millions of dollars at Disney by doing the same thing that the Star Trek franchise did.\u00a0 They made a Star Wars brand for girls and girls don\u2019t like science fiction.<\/p>\n<p>Well, here we are.\u00a0 A decade into the complete feminization of action adventure and all the major franchises have been rendered toxic and unwatchable.\u00a0 Even the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been losing money on its girl-boss outreach program.\u00a0 Now what?<\/p>\n<p>I guess we\u2019re all hoping that losing all that money will finally get the studios to step back and reflect.\u00a0 We\u2019re about to find out.\u00a0 Summer 2026 is right around the corner and we can expect to get some kind of answer from the tent pole summer movie list.\u00a0 If it\u2019s more estrogen laden, DEI boiler plate then I guess they still have some more money to burn.\u00a0 But I can always hope.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Paramount spent somewhere north of a hundred million dollars on a tv series called \u201cStar Trek &#8211;
