So here I am on the night of the 19th<\/sup> and in another day and a half my brain child, \u201cThe Sniper\u201d will officially go on sale on Amazon.com; that greatest marketplace of the planet Earth.\u00a0 And I am genuinely fascinated to find out if there really is such a thing as digital marketing.\u00a0 I\u2019ve hired a professional to pick out \u201ckeywords\u201d and select the time and method of placing ads on that tremendous sales site.\u00a0 And there are other things involving Goodreads and bookbub and discounts and reviews and influencers and heaven knows what else.\u00a0 But does it work?\u00a0 Well, I\u2019m about to find out.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve been having snow for the last four days and so, that has kept me busy clearing the driveways.\u00a0 And with it happening every day most of that effort has been sort of pointless.\u00a0 Of course, the snowblower is a lot faster than the shoveling I did on the first day.\u00a0 But it\u2019s just ridiculous in my mind to use it on anything less than three inches of the white stuff.\u00a0 But clearing it today with the snowblower was almost a peaceful experience.\u00a0 For once, the wind was absent and so the snow wasn\u2019t blowing back into my face.\u00a0 I had to go out and get five gallons of gas for my machine and as I drove along, the snow would fall out of the overhanging trees onto the windshield and it was kind of a fun experience as it hit the glass and exploded into dust.\u00a0 Very pleasant.<\/p>\n

In the outside world I hear the anti-ICE psychos in Minnesota have been going, well, psycho!\u00a0 They\u2019re inflicting their mania on people during church services and supposedly hunting down ICE supporters and assaulting them on the streets.\u00a0 Well, that\u2019s par for the course with these antifa types.\u00a0 But there were a couple of YouTube videos of some of these lefties meeting up with the wrong guy.\u00a0 An ICE supporter was peacefully demonstrating on a Minneapolis street when one of the anti-ICE guys started blasting his bullhorn right in the guy\u2019s ear.\u00a0 He did this three or four times as the ICE supporter attempted to walk away.\u00a0 Finally, the ICE supporter had enough and he dropped bullhorn boy with one shot to the face.\u00a0 Four other lefties went after this ICE supporter but he managed to knock all of them to the ground with fairly professional looking boxing technique.\u00a0 Sometimes the world just makes things go right, I guess.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow, I have a dentist appointment.\u00a0 So, I won\u2019t be around much until afternoon.\u00a0 But I\u2019m curious to see if all this book-selling rigamarole starts to coalesce into a manifestation that I can understand.\u00a0 I mean, what are keywords anyway?\u00a0 As far as my book would \u201crevenge\u201d be a keyword?\u00a0 How about \u201cdeep state\u201d or \u201cconspiracy?\u201d\u00a0 I just don\u2019t know how any of this is supposed to work.\u00a0 I just can\u2019t imagine Bob Heinlein or Isaac Asimov interfacing with influencers and getting involved with something called bookbub.\u00a0 But we must all march with the times.\u00a0 And anyway, the proof of the pudding is in the eating and the proof of the marketing is in the sales.\u00a0 So, if on Thursday I\u2019m buried under in millions of book sales I\u2019ll claim that I never doubted the power of the algorithm and I will swear allegiance to KDP!<\/p>\n
