So today was the last day of my marketer\u2019s book launch service.\u00a0 And as of now we sold sixty books.\u00a0 Thirty-four were e-books and twenty-six were paperbacks.\u00a0 And today I noticed that one sale (an e-book) was sold in Germany.\u00a0 Well, well.<\/p>\n
Owing to the fact that book sales have not topped one million copies, as of yet, I\u2019ve decided to turn the whole thing into a network marketing exercise.\u00a0 I intend to find ten people and have each of them buy ten copies and then each force ten people to each buy ten copies and then so on and so forth until by level ten we have ten billion copies sold!\u00a0 By the way that math may be off a little but you get the idea.\u00a0 After all if it worked for Amway and Communism how can it possibly fail?\u00a0 Why didn\u2019t I think of this earlier?\u00a0 All I have to do is buy a white board and some dry erase products and maybe combine this with a Tupperware item or two and before you know it I\u2019ll be a huge success.<\/p>\n
All in all, it\u2019s been very educational.\u00a0 I guess the takeaway is that price-point and ads on Amazon are what sell books.\u00a0 As soon as I dropped the price of the e-book from $5.99 to $2.99 there was an immediate surge in sales.\u00a0 Since I have very few reviews, I\u2019ve decided to drop the price of the e-book to $0.99 and try to get a bunch of sales right away in the hopes that it will generate some reviews.\u00a0 Of course, that\u2019s just my idea but it seems to make sense to me.<\/p>\n
The marketer has additional services to extend the launch but I\u2019ve decided to try it myself.\u00a0 Now that I\u2019m running the campaign on my own, I\u2019ll depend on Amazon\u2019s automatic key word selection to attract the attention of the techno-thriller\/vigilante justice readers out there.\u00a0 It should be very interesting to see how this change affects sales.<\/p>\n
I will say that becoming a \u201cbest selling author\u201d is harder than I imagined.\u00a0 I assumed that with my incredible writing skills the publishers and the reading public would beat a path to my door and shower me with riches.\u00a0 So far, no path.\u00a0 So far, more like a trickle of riches.\u00a0 But I am undismayed.\u00a0 My acquaintances who\u2019ve read the book report enjoying it a lot.\u00a0 Now of course they may be just saying nice things because they like me.\u00a0 But I will say it is very nice to receive accolades even from friends.\u00a0 If instead they had told me, it was awful I think I\u2019d be pretty discouraged.\u00a0 So currently I\u2019m buoyed by the minor success I\u2019ve enjoyed and hopeful that with further exposure the book will find an audience (possibly in Germany!).<\/p>\n
