{"id":36554,"date":"2026-04-15T05:00:26","date_gmt":"2026-04-15T09:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=36554"},"modified":"2026-04-14T22:21:45","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T02:21:45","slug":"building-ramps-and-singing-spirituals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/15\/building-ramps-and-singing-spirituals\/","title":{"rendered":"Building Ramps and Singing Spirituals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So, where are we today?<\/p>\n<p>Eric Swalwell, the Democrat congressman who was running for governor of California has dropped out of the race and resigned from Congress after allegations of date rape and sexual assault have been levelled against him by four separate women.\u00a0 Ah, the Democrats the party of feminism.\u00a0 Amazing how these things only happen when they want someone to drop out of a race and he refuses.\u00a0 Up until now Swalwell was best known for his vehement attacks on Donald Trump and for an incident where during an interview on an MSNBC television show he farted so loudly that microphone picked it up magnificently.\u00a0 Eric we hardly knew ye.\u00a0 Farewell!<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rep. Eric Swalwell Farts on Hardball! -   2019-11-18\" width=\"783\" height=\"440\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Pk8I4gDN82Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>So, the peace talks between the Trump administration and the Iranians have broken down so Trump has said he will take over the Straits of Hormuz.\u00a0 Now, how dangerous is this situation?\u00a0 I can\u2019t even imagine something not going terribly wrong.\u00a0 So, Trump is going to try and break the Iranians by cutting off all their oil money by blocking the tankers heading for China.\u00a0 This is a hardcore tactic.\u00a0 I guess it could work.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure we\u2019ll know pretty soon how this is going to end up.\u00a0 Good luck Mr. Trump.\u00a0 You will need it.<\/p>\n<p>Trump is in a war of words with the Pope.\u00a0 Well, this one\u2019s easy.\u00a0 I\u2019ll back Trump.\u00a0 The last couple of popes don\u2019t seem to be infallible.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure they were even Christians.\u00a0 More like the kind of atheists they turn into bishops in some of the trendy denominations.\u00a0 But I don\u2019t think Trump should waste his time fighting with him.\u00a0 It\u2019s a waste of time.<\/p>\n<p>Well, we\u2019ve reached the warm weather here this week.\u00a0 Today and tomorrow will both break the eighty-degree mark and I\u2019ve turned off the house\u2019s heating system for the summer.\u00a0 Of course, if the weather gods go berserk and send us one last Polar Express that will have to be reckoned with but we think we\u2019ve paid enough for oil this year.\u00a0 And today I saw a good-sized butterfly fluttering around in the air.\u00a0 And since the forsythia and the daffodils are both exploding in yellow bloom, I guess it makes sense for some insect to be pollinating them.\u00a0 And finally, the raspberry leaves have burst from the ground all over the patch where I cut down the canes in March.\u00a0 From what I can see this will be an even better sized crop than last year\u2019s excellent results.\u00a0 I\u2019d say that the 10-10-10 fertilizer worked exactly as recommended.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/DSC00637-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33075\" src=\"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/DSC00637-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1423\" srcset=\"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/DSC00637-scaled.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/DSC00637-300x167.jpg 300w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/DSC00637-1024x569.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/DSC00637-768x427.jpg 768w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/DSC00637-1536x854.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/DSC00637-2048x1139.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re still waiting for Camera Girl\u2019s pond liner to arrive from Home Depot.\u00a0 It\u2019s two days late and somehow \u201cdelayed\u201d less than thirty miles away.\u00a0 What can I say, Home Depot is not Amazon, that\u2019s for sure.\u00a0 When it arrives, I\u2019ll bring out the shovel, pick, giant pry bar and wheel barrow.\u00a0 I\u2019m hoping there\u2019s no ledge where she wants it to sit.\u00a0 But knowing what I do about this property there will be a few monster-sized boulders below the surface.\u00a0 Well, I\u2019m sure there\u2019s at least a few drops of ancient Egyptian blood in my Mediterranean ancestry so I\u2019ll bone up on ramp building and practice singing spirituals.\u00a0 Happy Wednesday!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, where are we today?
