Here we are in the last week of July.\u00a0 Wow.\u00a0 The days fly by when you\u2019re too busy with annoying drudgery.\u00a0 So that\u2019s a strange way of looking at it.\u00a0 While engaged in the drudgery it\u2019s crawling along.\u00a0 But when I finally escape, the day is already wasted away.\u00a0 And what\u2019s left flies down the gravity drain into the past in the blink of an eye.\u00a0 So, I\u2019m just annoyed at the present situation.\u00a0 And it\u2019s only gonna get worse in August and so I\u2019m terribly disgruntled.\u00a0 But until I figure a way out of the trap I\u2019m in, it\u2019s gonna be status quo.\u00a0 Enough.\u00a0 Well, at least I have the weekend off so I\u2019m going to enjoy the next two days as much as is humanly possible.\u00a0 So, stop complaining!<\/p>\n
We\u2019re five episodes into the first season of \u201cLandman\u201d and it\u2019s a very odd experience.\u00a0 The main story of Billy Bob Thornton\u2019s character trying to manage a chaotic mix of oil field accidental mayhem, narcotraficante related mayhem and roughneck related mayhem is interesting but the subplot involving his terminally self-absorbed ex-wife is extremely annoying.\u00a0 The other themes associated with his son and daughter are pretty good and his son\u2019s story is expanding into a larger role.\u00a0 Camera Girl and I are enjoying the experience of having a show that we can both watch with at least some degree of interest. \u00a0There was one scene that I found particularly funny.\u00a0 Tommy Norris\u2019s ex-wife is trying to stage a \u201cfamily\u201d dinner with herself, Tommy, their two kids and the two oil company guys who are staying at the company \u201chouse.\u201d\u00a0 She insists that they all join hands around the table for a prayer and after it\u2019s over the two outsiders are talking about it and one guy says, \u201cWell, that was the first dinner prayer I can remember that was explicitly blasphemous.\u201d<\/p>\n
Friday, Saturday and Sunday\u2019s weather is supposed to be beautiful.\u00a0 The kids came over to use the pool today and they said the temperature was perfect.\u00a0 And the butterfly bush is finally in full flower and monarchs and swallowtails (tiger and pipevine) are increasingly present as photographic subjects.\u00a0 And the raspberry canes are starting to produce a bumper crop of berries.\u00a0 So, this is peak mid-summer experience and if I wasn\u2019t committed to an annoying task I would be in seventh heaven.\u00a0 Well, I guess it\u2019s not that bad if I can take the time to complain this much about it.<\/p>\n
One of our neighbors put out a bit of video from her bird feeder.\u00a0 It was of a black bear\u2019s nose stuck up against the camera.\u00a0 The bear\u2019s claws were fairly impressive and a good reminder that even a black bear is not a Disney character that you can approach with impunity.\u00a0 We have a bunch of blueberry bushes that are just about ripe so we may be getting a visit from Yogi and company at any time.\u00a0 I have a game camera mounted but I didn\u2019t return the memory stick last time I downloaded the files.\u00a0 I probably should.<\/p>\n
