{"id":4173,"date":"2018-09-03T17:44:25","date_gmt":"2018-09-03T21:44:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=4173"},"modified":"2018-09-03T17:44:25","modified_gmt":"2018-09-03T21:44:25","slug":"high-top-mountain-sturgill-simpson-a-country-music-review-part-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2018\/09\/03\/high-top-mountain-sturgill-simpson-a-country-music-review-part-2\/","title":{"rendered":"High Top Mountain \u2013 Sturgill Simpson \u2013 A Country Music Review \u2013 Part 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I \u2018ve now had a chance to listen to High Top Mountain a good bit and I can say without a doubt that this is my favorite album by Sturgill Simpson.\u00a0 And that\u2019s because it\u2019s country music.\u00a0 He isn\u2019t experimenting here with other genres and sounds.\u00a0 It\u2019s straight up classic country with plenty of energy, fun lyrics and excellent steel guitar.\u00a0 For me the best songs are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Life Ain\u2019t Fair and the World is Mean<\/li>\n<li>You Can Have the Crown<\/li>\n<li>Sitting Here Without You<\/li>\n<li>Time After All<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But honestly, I think they\u2019re all good.\u00a0 Now how rare is that?\u00a0 Most albums have three or four strong songs and the rest weak.\u00a0 This album has twelve songs and they range from excellent to good.\u00a0 They vary from ballads to up tempo rockabilly.\u00a0 I\u2019m just disappointed that his later albums don\u2019t appeal to me as much.\u00a0 Maybe these were all the country songs he wanted to make.\u00a0 Well if that\u2019s so, then I\u2019m glad he made this album and that I found it.\u00a0 I think it\u2019s a keeper.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I \u2018ve now had a chance to listen to High Top Mountain a good bit and I can say without a doubt that this is<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[552,551,237,1],"tags":[1309,1310,38,1308],"class_list":["post-4173","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-country-music-reviews","category-music-reviews","category-reviews","category-uncategorized","tag-country-music-review","tag-music-review","tag-review","tag-sturgill-simpson"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.4 -
