During the 2016 election you could hear and see and read at any time of the day or night how hopelessly impossible a Trump victory truly was.\u00a0 The pollsters had every option documented and confirmed.\u00a0 The only question was whether Hillary\u2019s victory would be a landslide or a tsunami.\u00a0 And then the pundits on tv or in print took those polls and lovingly applied them like salt to a wound.\u00a0 Go back to the YouTube videos and feel the pure spiteful joy in their voices, the triumphalism.\u00a0 The polls were rock solid and unanimous.\u00a0 The Republicans were divided and panic-stricken.\u00a0 Every sign pointed to Trump\u2019s defeat, Democrat triumph.\u00a0 But for those who could hear, something sounded flat.\u00a0 The stridency and hectoring seemed so manic almost desperate.\u00a0 And no matter how large the crowds were for Trump the poll numbers never improved.\u00a0 In fact, they always declined.\u00a0 And all my friends said it was over and a foregone conclusion.\u00a0 And I told them they were wrong and I even put my money where my mouth was.\u00a0 Then Trump won and we all knew what those polls were.\u00a0 They were fud (fear, uncertainty and doubt).\u00a0 Although the \u201cd\u201d could stand for disinformation in this case.<\/p>\n
Fast forward to today.\u00a0 Every month we get a fresh poll assuring us that the \u201cBlue Wave\u201d has returned!\u00a0 Whenever the polls start to show the Republicans gaining strength some new bogeyman appears to renew the death knell.\u00a0 Every Republican district is fading.\u00a0 Every Democrat district is twenty points ahead.\u00a0 Doom, doom, doom.<\/p>\n
Okay, so could the polls be right?\u00a0 Sure, they could.\u00a0 The Republicans are stiffs.\u00a0 Most of their constituencies probably hate their guts.\u00a0 And they should.\u00a0 They\u2019re all useless losers.\u00a0 They don\u2019t know what they believe and the only thing they care about is keeping their paying gigs, nothing else.\u00a0 But being afraid of this stuff is a waste of time for us.\u00a0 If the Republicans win, that should finally convince the NeverTrumpers that they really are complete losers.\u00a0 If the Democrats win then we know that we\u2019ll be going through the whole impeachment charade.\u00a0 But it doesn\u2019t matter.\u00a0 We\u2019ve found out the truth.\u00a0 It\u2019s all just power politics and all their moralizing is only noise and nonsense.\u00a0 We\u2019re completely justified to pursue our own agenda any way we see fit.\u00a0 We can make whatever enemies and allies we want to and pursue whatever strategies and tactics are deemed expedient.\u00a0 They say the truth shall set you free and in a real sense it has.\u00a0 It truly is liberating to stop worrying about an imaginary relationship that always turned into betrayal.\u00a0 The RINOs can\u2019t shock us and the Progressives are devouring their own.\u00a0 And knowledge is strength.\u00a0 When you know how things really work you can more accurately predict outcomes.\u00a0 And when you no longer think you are dealing with friends and countrymen the desire to be open and transparent goes away.\u00a0 Secrecy and guile become tactics.\u00a0 Once you read Alinsky\u2019s Rules for Radicals you recognize what\u2019s been used against your side for fifty years and you realize just how easily it can now be used against them.<\/p>\n
