{"id":5999,"date":"2019-01-28T21:00:07","date_gmt":"2019-01-29T02:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=5999"},"modified":"2019-02-01T22:42:51","modified_gmt":"2019-02-02T03:42:51","slug":"the-goofiest-barred-owl-bar-none","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2019\/01\/28\/the-goofiest-barred-owl-bar-none\/","title":{"rendered":"The Goofiest Barred Owl Bar None"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This has been a pretty weird winter weather-wise.\u00a0 We have had fifty degrees and minus five so far in January.\u00a0 I\u2019ve had snow, rain, sleet and hurricane force winds all on the same day.\u00a0 There have been torrential rains followed by bright sun.\u00a0 Weird.\u00a0 And now just to show you that I\u2019m not the only one who\u2019s confused our local Barred Owl has switched into a daytime critter.\u00a0 This bugger was in a tree branch right outside my living room window and scarfing down mice right before my eyes.\u00a0 Their ability to turn their heads one hundred eighty degrees is pretty bizarre.\u00a0 But if staying up all day means he won\u2019t be serenading me at two a.m. then count me in on the program.\u00a0 These Barred Owls have one of the weirder sounding repertories among the \u201cChildren of the Night\u201d in my neck of the woods.<\/p>\n<p>I happened to have my camera there but it was equipped with the Sony 55mm f\\1.8 lens.\u00a0 I took a bunch of shots through a double glazed window and here they are cropped and resized out of all sanity.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5998\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5998\" style=\"width: 2251px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5998\" src=\"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/DSC05108crop.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2251\" height=\"2251\" srcset=\"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/DSC05108crop.jpg 2251w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/DSC05108crop-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/DSC05108crop-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/DSC05108crop-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/DSC05108crop-1024x1024.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2251px) 100vw, 2251px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5998\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Barred Owl with mouse;
