{"id":61,"date":"2016-04-05T23:06:43","date_gmt":"2016-04-05T23:06:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=61"},"modified":"2016-08-27T10:29:16","modified_gmt":"2016-08-27T14:29:16","slug":"hello-my-name-is-inigo-montoya-you-stole-my-delegates-prepare-to-die","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2016\/04\/05\/hello-my-name-is-inigo-montoya-you-stole-my-delegates-prepare-to-die\/","title":{"rendered":"Hello, My Name is Inigo Montoya, You Stole My Delegates Prepare to Die"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So chances are Ted will win in Wisconsin tonight and get most of the 42 delegates up for grabs.\u00a0 Where does that put us?\u00a0 Well, he&#8217;ll still be about 200 behind with NY, PA, and several other eastern states coming up in a couple of weeks.\u00a0 The numbers in these contests look much better for The Donald.\u00a0 So unless this win tonight galvanizes the electorate to support Ted he has basically no chance of reaching 1237.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s look at the options.<\/p>\n<p>For Trump he either reaches 1237 or he doesn&#8217;t.\u00a0 If he does then he&#8217;s the nominee.\u00a0 And honestly I don&#8217;t think anyone knows how that would turn out but I think he has a better than even chance of beating Clinton.\u00a0 And also it would be guaranteed to be highly entertaining.\u00a0 If Trump doesn&#8217;t reach 1237 then things become less clear.\u00a0 Theoretically the rules could be changed ahead of the convention to allow Establishment insiders to negotiate anyone they like to be the nominee.\u00a0 The question is would they?\u00a0 Between Trump and Cruz they&#8217;ll have well over 70% of the total delegates.\u00a0 If they decide to give the prize to a third party it will anger so many voters that it would effectively give the general election to the Dems.\u00a0 My guess is that they&#8217;re just stupid enough to do exactly that.<\/p>\n<p>One way that this could be avoided would be for Trump and Cruz to come to an accommodation.\u00a0 If they formed a ticket they could try to steer all the delegates between them on the first ballot to one of them.\u00a0 Of course they hate each other&#8217;s guts.\u00a0 But they&#8217;re both kind of calculating players so I could believe it could be done.\u00a0 But how to pick the top of the ticket?<\/p>\n<p>Flip a coin?\u00a0 Arm wrestle?\u00a0 Spelling Bee?\u00a0 No!\u00a0 Pistols at ten paces!<\/p>\n<p>Now, Cruz is a Princess Bride fan so sabers would be more fitting but if it was good enough for Hamilton\/Burr, it&#8217;s good enough for Cruz\/Trump.\u00a0 I wonder if Trump has a floating casino that leaves US territorial waters.\u00a0 That would make it legal.\u00a0 Of course if one or both are killed, Jeb! is still available.\u00a0 Where&#8217;s that Dread Pirate Roberts when you need him?\u00a0 I&#8217;m moving to the Fire Swamp until it&#8217;s over.<\/p>\n<p>[paypal-donation]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So chances are Ted will win in Wisconsin tonight and get most of the 42 delegates up for grabs.\u00a0 Where does that put us?\u00a0 Well,<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-61","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-current-events"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.4 -
