Back in the middle of April I said<\/a> that although William Barr appeared to be a typical apparatchik of the Washington Swamp, the fact that some of my fellow deplorables were strangely optimistic about the prospect of Barr prosecuting the upper echelons of the Obama administration over the Russia-gate did give me pause that maybe I was being too pessimistic about Barr.<\/p>\n

Watching Barr\u2019s testimony in the Senate last week<\/a> was very illuminating.\u00a0 I\u2019m starting to think I might be wrong about him.\u00a0 This did not appear to be a man who was interested in placating the Left.\u00a0 In fact, he seemed to be a man who was confidently intent on straightening out an intentionally tangled web of lies.\u00a0 And because of this he seems to be charting his own course for getting it done.\u00a0 Appearing before the Senate and not kowtowing to the lunatic left represented there by that inveterate liar Blumenthal and that idiot Hirono demonstrated that he\u2019s not interested in currying favor.\u00a0 And cancelling the House questioning when he could see that they would use it to showboat their outrage in a chamber where Republicans would be powerless to prevent a spectacle was brilliant.<\/p>\n

The cyclone of left-wing anger and fear this cancellation caused is a wonder to behold.\u00a0 Shortly after his Senate appearance, the New York Times published leaked information<\/a> from the cabal to try and get ahead of revelations that they knew will be publicized by the various investigations going on in the Justice Department over the overt and unlawful spying that the FBI and its allies here and overseas conducted against members of the Trump campaign.\u00a0 This is obviously a consequence of the Swamp anticipating grand jury testimony by members of the Russia-gate conspirators.\u00a0 Possibly they are hoping to sway public opinion to the idea that what was done was reasonable and legal.\u00a0 And if the Attorney General were a risk-averse and politically sensitive member of the swamp this scripting would probably be an effective tactic.\u00a0 But what if instead of being risk-averse, Barr is a seasoned law enforcement professional and someone who doesn\u2019t like to be manipulated.\u00a0 And what if he is aware of just how much power and discretion the Attorney General of the United States is granted in the pursuit of high crimes and misdemeanors perpetrated against the U. S. Constitution?\u00a0 And further what if he knows that the President of the United States has been the victim of a railroading exercise and that said President is a vindictive bastard who would like nothing better than to nail his enemies\u2019 hides to the barn door?\u00a0 Well, that could be a very interesting situation.<\/p>\n

Now that is a very long list of suppositions.\u00a0 The biggest one is that William Barr is actually courageously patriotic enough to take on the entire Deep State for Donald Trump with whom he has no past allegiance.\u00a0 Many of the conspirators Barr would be exposing are colleagues that he has known for decades.\u00a0 And unless his life has been preternaturally spotless, he will be assaulted by every newspaper and television journalist that can be drafted into service by the Swamp.\u00a0 And even if he is as pure as the driven snow, they will attack his friends and family and if necessary, they will get crazy people to perjure themselves claiming every crime from rape and murder down to shoplifting and jaywalking.\u00a0 In the last extremity I wouldn\u2019t put murder past these people.\u00a0 So, I still think it is entirely possible that Barr will be the firewall to shut down the Mueller investigation without the Deep State paying a price.<\/p>\n

But I\u2019m much less certain of it.\u00a0 In fact, I\u2019m becoming more optimistic that Donald Trump has finally found an Attorney General who knows how to perform that job.\u00a0 And that should become apparent within the next month or two.\u00a0 It won\u2019t take too long for grand juries to be convened.\u00a0 If I see that happening before the Fourth of July, I\u2019ll believe that Barr is for real.\u00a0 What happens after that is less clear cut.\u00a0 I think there is a range of possibilities.<\/p>\n

The first possibility is that the Deep State has their own firewall in place.\u00a0 To anyone with even a scintilla of discernment Peter Strzok and Andrew McCabe have the words \u201cfall guy\u201d emblazoned across their foreheads in flashing red letters.\u00a0 I think it\u2019s even possible that they\u2019ve willingly volunteered for the assignment.\u00a0 Strzok just seems too gleefully eager to play the part he\u2019s been assigned.\u00a0 If the two of them fall on their swords and accept the blame for the whole mess then it will be difficult to prove otherwise.\u00a0 Of course, I wouldn\u2019t doubt that their families would somehow receive some kind of quid pro quo in the form of a multi-million-dollar kick starter paid for by the Clinton Foundation or some other crime family money laundering operation.<\/p>\n

But if either one of them is not a willing fall guy then squeezing one or both of them will be extremely efficacious.\u00a0 If McCabe turns state\u2019s evidence then Comey, at least, is dead meat.\u00a0 And after watching Jim Comey over the last few years I would be very surprised if he didn\u2019t roll over and give up everyone involved up to and including his boss, Loretta Lynch.\u00a0 After that, who knows?\u00a0 Could these people be rolled up all the way to Obama.\u00a0 I guess it\u2019s possible.\u00a0 But a thing that has to be remembered is that just because something can be done doesn\u2019t mean it should be.\u00a0 Convicting a former Attorney General of the United States of conspiracy to undermine the election of a U. S. President would be tantamount to starting a civil war between the left and right.\u00a0 And I\u2019m not saying it would be unjustified.\u00a0 Basically, what has been done is treason.\u00a0 But the consequences of pursuing this all the way will not be without severe consequences for both sides.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Without a doubt, some limits may be imposed by the President and his Cabinet if they think it will be too explosive to pursue the white rabbit all the way down into Wonderland.\u00a0 But if these swamp creatures talk, the results will be at the very least assurance of a second Trump term.<\/p>\n

Okay, that\u2019s a lot of supposition to hang on William Barr, at this point.\u00a0 Let\u2019s see what he does in the next eight weeks and that should tell us what we need to know about the conclusion of the Russia-gate hoax.\u00a0 Stay tuned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
