{"id":7477,"date":"2019-06-28T23:31:57","date_gmt":"2019-06-29T03:31:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=7477"},"modified":"2019-06-28T23:35:03","modified_gmt":"2019-06-29T03:35:03","slug":"the-twilight-zone-complete-series-review-season-4-episode-10-no-time-like-the-past","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2019\/06\/28\/the-twilight-zone-complete-series-review-season-4-episode-10-no-time-like-the-past\/","title":{"rendered":"The Twilight Zone \u2013 Complete Series Review \u2013 Season 4 Episode 10 \u2013 No Time Like the Past"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dana Andrews is a physicist named Paul Driscoll who is part of a time travel project.\u00a0 He goes back in time to try and alter three pages in history.\u00a0 He goes back to 1945 Hiroshima and tries to convince a police official to evacuate the women and children before the bomb.\u00a0 But he fails.\u00a0 Then he goes back to the early days of Hitler\u2019s rule and tries to kill Hitler with a rifle from a hotel room adjacent to a Nazi rally and fails.\u00a0 And finally, he goes back to the Lusitania and tries to convince the captain to change his course and avoid the torpedo that would sink it a few minutes later.\u00a0 Once again, he fails.<\/p>\n<p>Returning to his present he is reconciled to the immutability of the past.\u00a0 But now he determines to find a period in the past before the horrors of the atomic age where he can live in peace.\u00a0 He chooses a town in Indiana in 1881.\u00a0 Shortly after arriving he realizes that President Garfield will be shot that same day.\u00a0 Accidentally he lets slip that he knows Garfield will be shot to the town school-marm, Abigail Sloan.\u00a0 He falls in love with the teacher and they talk about his thoughts on war and peace.\u00a0 But suddenly he remembers something else he read about the town.\u00a0 He remembers that a fire will break out in the school and twelve children will be badly hurt.\u00a0 While attempting to prevent the accident that causes the fire, he causes it himself.\u00a0 He says goodbye to Miss Sloan and tells her that he must head back to the future where he can make a difference.\u00a0 He talks to one of his associates and says that working to make a better future is the only useful occupation for those who want to make a better world.<\/p>\n<p>This hour format allows Serling to combine a time travel plot that involves trying to change the past with a meditation on war and peace.\u00a0 Dana Andrews is a fun actor and does his best with the story.\u00a0 It\u2019s kind of an odd juxtaposition of sci-fi and nostalgia.\u00a0 It\u2019s a little unfocused and kind of forced but not bad.\u00a0 B-.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>After you&#8217;ve read enough sexbot articles on Drudge maybe switch to something interesting<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whatfinger.com\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.whatfinger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/whatfingernewslogo.png\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dana Andrews is a physicist named Paul Driscoll who is part of a time travel project.\u00a0 He goes back in time to try and alter<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[237,4,244,240,1661],"tags":[1952,1951,38,1355,1194,44,309,265,1691,154,1692,838],"class_list":["post-7477","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-reviews","category-sff","category-sff-tv-reviews","category-tv-reviews","category-twilight-zone","tag-dana-andrews","tag-no-time-like-the-past","tag-review","tag-reviews","tag-rod-serling","tag-sci-fi","tag-sci-fi-tv-review","tag-science-fiction","tag-sff-tv-show-reviews","tag-tv-review","tag-tv-reviews","tag-twilight-zone"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.4 -
