{"id":7897,"date":"2019-08-03T16:48:44","date_gmt":"2019-08-03T20:48:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=7897"},"modified":"2019-08-03T16:50:38","modified_gmt":"2019-08-03T20:50:38","slug":"tyler-childers-country-squire-a-country-music-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2019\/08\/03\/tyler-childers-country-squire-a-country-music-review\/","title":{"rendered":"Tyler Childers \u2013 Country Squire \u2013 A Country Music Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019m a fan of Tyler Childers\u2019 music.\u00a0 He\u2019s a singer songwriter with an interesting voice and talent for producing lively melodies.\u00a0 And he tells stories about modern Appalachia.\u00a0 Stories about country people and stories about himself.\u00a0 One of my favorites of his songs is a murder ballad on his Purgatory album called Banded Clovis.\u00a0 His lyrics paint an engaging picture of the murderer at the moment when greed and desperation over comes camaraderie and decency.<\/p>\n<p>Childers\u2019 new album Country Squire is in the same cast as Purgatory.\u00a0 It has songs that describe the life of every day folks in Appalachia and also has more autobiographical songs about his life on the road as a musician.\u00a0 For me these personal songs are not as compelling because that lifestyle doesn\u2019t resonate with how I live.\u00a0 But the other songs are more interesting to me.\u00a0 So, unsurprisingly the three songs I like best on the album are of this type; Creeker, Peace of Mind and Matthew.\u00a0 They\u2019re just stories of everyday people living everyday lives.\u00a0 But Childers is able to generate good country songs with it.\u00a0 The other six songs have a number of what I called above autobiographical songs and here it\u2019s more hit or miss.\u00a0 \u201cCountry Squire\u201d and \u201cBus Route\u201d are pretty good.\u00a0 But \u201cEver Lovin\u2019 Hand\u201d I\u2019ll take a pass on. \u00a0The musicality is fine but the story is too odd for me.<\/p>\n<p>So if you\u2019re a Tyler Childers fan you\u2019ll like Country Squire.\u00a0 If you\u2019re a country music fan give it a try but I would start with his Purgatory album first.\u00a0 I think it\u2019s a better introduction to his range of songs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whatfinger.com\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7742\" src=\"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/picture-4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"3909\" height=\"851\" srcset=\"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/picture-4.png 3909w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/picture-4-300x65.png 300w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/picture-4-768x167.png 768w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/picture-4-1024x223.png 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 3909px) 100vw, 3909px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019m a fan of Tyler Childers\u2019 music.\u00a0 He\u2019s a singer songwriter with an interesting voice and talent for producing lively melodies.\u00a0 And he tells stories<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[552,551,237],"tags":[553,555,1309,2018,561],"class_list":["post-7897","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-country-music-reviews","category-music-reviews","category-reviews","tag-appalachia","tag-country-music","tag-country-music-review","tag-country-squire","tag-tyler-childers"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.4 -
