Watching the video of Chris Cuomo, I was sort of sad to see him demeaned.\u00a0 I mean anyone who grows up in a large family knows that sibling rivalry and competition in an intellectual environment is stressful.\u00a0 So, the fact that Chris is sort of the lesser intellect in the Cuomo family is something that many would feel sympathy for.\u00a0 Of course, the fact that he spouts poisonous lies on CNN about non-Leftists makes him a whole lot less sympathetic.\u00a0 Sean Hannity was supportive of Cuomo because the incident occurred while Cuomo was out with his wife and young daughter.\u00a0 This is also something that should be acknowledged.\u00a0 Being a celebrity doesn\u2019t cancel out your humanity and shouldn\u2019t excuse even your enemies from showing decency around your loved ones.\u00a0 Once again, Cuomo has never given President Trump or his family any slack when tossing insults and vilifying them about any personal issues that have nothing to do with government.\u00a0 But let\u2019s just say it\u2019s understandable that Cuomo reacted angrily and forcefully to his heckler.<\/p>\n

But then as ever, Cuomo pulled the race card, or slightly less effectively, the ethnicity card.\u00a0 Chris threatened to throw the heckler down the stairs for what he declared was the equivalent of the \u201cn\u201d word for Italian Americans, “Fredo.”\u00a0 Huh.<\/p>\n

All my ancestors, going back as far as I can determine, were Italians or descendants of Italians living in the United States.\u00a0 And a good proportion of these were descended from Sicilians.\u00a0 And on top of that my family is from an Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn that unfortunately was steeped in awareness of the Godfather movies.\u00a0 I can remember back in the 1970s car horns in my neighborhood playing a portion of the Godfather theme.\u00a0 It was quite sad.\u00a0 Anyway, I consider myself relatively authoritative on this subject.\u00a0 \u201cFredo\u201d is not an Italian American slur.\u00a0 It\u2019s a mockery of someone who isn\u2019t the brightest bulb in a family with more accomplished individuals.\u00a0 In the Godfather movies Fredo is the incompetent older brother of Michael who bumbles and fails and finally betrays the Corleones while trying to show that he isn\u2019t a loser.<\/p>\n

In the famous scene where Michael confronts Fredo with his betrayal you hear Fredo defend his own actions by blaming everyone else for demeaning him.\u00a0 He\u2019s the older brother who whose pride has been wounded.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can handle things! I’m smart! Not like everybody says… like dumb… I’m smart and I want respect!\u201d<\/p>\n

Okay, so Chris Cuomo isn\u2019t exactly Fredo.\u00a0 He\u2019s got a good paying job at CNN and all the material success associated with being part of a family that has had two governors of New York State in just two generations of the family.\u00a0 Not bad.\u00a0 So why does being called Fredo sting so badly?\u00a0 Well, to be totally honest if you\u2019ve ever watched any of his work on CNN, he does appear sometimes to be an idiot.\u00a0 And again, in a highly competitive family maybe some unkind comparisons were made by his siblings or parents.\u00a0 Who knows?\u00a0 But the most important consideration is noting that no matter what, when a Leftist is attacked his first instinct is to call his attacker a racist.\u00a0 Poor Fredo.\u00a0 Well at least Andrew hasn\u2019t sent him out on the lake to sleep with the fish.<\/p>\n
