{"id":9389,"date":"2019-12-18T23:48:31","date_gmt":"2019-12-19T04:48:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=9389"},"modified":"2019-12-18T23:49:31","modified_gmt":"2019-12-19T04:49:31","slug":"the-silver-lining-of-the-impeachment-cloud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2019\/12\/18\/the-silver-lining-of-the-impeachment-cloud\/","title":{"rendered":"The Silver Lining of the Impeachment Cloud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now that the hens in the House have clucked up their impeachment chicken feed it\u2019s time to see what good can be had from this travesty.\u00a0 The latest polls show that the impeachment is under water from the public\u2019s point of view, a majority is against it.\u00a0 And that\u2019s for the whole country.\u00a0 Among Republican voters it\u2019s closer to 100%.\u00a0 So you would have to imagine that anywhere Republican voters are in the majority that a Democrat congressman who voted for impeachment would be in a lot of trouble.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the list of the 31 Democrat congress-critters that represent districts that President Trump took in his 2016 election along with the President\u2019s winning percentage.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9391\" src=\"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/2019-12-18-Dems-in-Trump-Country.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"390\" height=\"865\" srcset=\"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/2019-12-18-Dems-in-Trump-Country.png 390w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/2019-12-18-Dems-in-Trump-Country-135x300.png 135w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 390px) 100vw, 390px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To my way of thinking, any district that the President won by five or more points is very likely to go for a Republican in 2020.\u00a0 And because of the presidential race and also because of the backlash that the impeachment vote in the House will engender I would not be surprised if everything won by three or more percentage points in 2016 doesn\u2019t go to a Republican.\u00a0 That is twenty-one seats.\u00a0 That is a couple of seats more than is needed to flip the House back to the Republicans.\u00a0 And honestly, I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if that number goes even higher.\u00a0 The President is much more popular than he was in 2016 or even 2018.\u00a0 So much so that I wouldn\u2019t doubt that in 2020 he\u2019s going to win districts and even states that he didn\u2019t take in 2016.\u00a0 For that reason I think it\u2019s highly likely that the House will switch hands again in 2020 and President Trump will have a usable Republican congress with which to pass important legislation.\u00a0 So to the extent that Nancy Pelosi facilitated this with her ridiculous impeachment charade, then I say thank you Crypt Keeper, good work.\u00a0 Now go off and haunt some other House.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whatfinger.com\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7742\" src=\"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/picture-4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"3909\" height=\"851\" srcset=\"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/picture-4.png 3909w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/picture-4-300x65.png 300w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/picture-4-768x167.png 768w, https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/picture-4-1024x223.png 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 3909px) 100vw, 3909px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now that the hens in the House have clucked up their impeachment chicken feed it\u2019s time to see what good can be had from this<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5,6],"tags":[1799,2241,1454],"class_list":["post-9389","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-current-events","category-trump","tag-2020-election","tag-dem-reps-in-districts-trump-won","tag-impeachment"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.4 -
