His name was Jerome Wheelock. He bequeathed $100,000 to his home town to build this statue of him. In fairness he also left another $100,000 to build the town library.

The way central Mass has been growing I’ll have to make a trip to Grafton and see if BLM has torn down Wheelock’s statue over his White privilege. They could put up one of those George Floyd heads on the Common. It would probably scare away the pigeons and squirrels.
