I have a quick question for you. For all the macro photographs you take, do you hold the camera freehand or do you use a tripod? I’m still trying to learn and have a hard time bracing my arm for those close-up shots.
Glenn, lately I’ve gotten kind of lazy and I freehand the camera and use continuous autofocus and high shutter speeds to get sharp shots. But if I’m going to do a lot of macro I sometimes mount the camera on a monopod with a trigger ball joint at the top. Now this is a clunky heavy setup but it does give a lot of stability and it’s easier to walk around with than a tripod. Of course if you have a light weight tripod you can close the three legs together and that makes a monopod of sorts. But if… Read more »
