My one and only interaction with a timber rattlesnake in the natural environment was almost a disaster. When I was a teenager I was on a camping trip with two friends and one of them found a very large timber sunning itself on a log. He knew I was looking to find and maybe capture some snakes (black rat snakes specifically).
