Simply breathtaking. Yellowstone is on my (long) list of places I want to visit. I still find it ironic that I visited more countries than the number of US States while in the military.
Thanks Arthur. I was there for about two weeks last July and I’ve been putting up photos daily for the last few months. Some of the landscapes are beautiful and running into elk, bison, black bears and even grizzlies leaves an impression. You can see the earlier photos by clicking on the photography heading.
And by the way what were the most interesting countries that you visited?
Japan is high on my list of most interesting countries for several reasons. One, the aesthetics of the architecture and layout of the landscapes were so distinctly different from what we see in the US. Decorative shrines, the villages, even big cities were impressive. Attention to detail and respect for their history could be seen in a lot of things they build, if that makes sense. I was fortunate to be there for extended periods while on detachment which allowed the opportunity to travel around during my off time. I’ve never been outside the lower forty eight states unless a plane ride over the Great Lakes veered into Canadian airspace without me knowing it. I used to want to go to Greece and Italy because of a deep interest in antiquity but the way most of Europe is going I’m not sure I still want to. I know what you mean about the French. I was part of a team that was working with a French client and we brought him to a Chinese restaurant and all he could think to say was how fat all Americans are. I… Read more »
