I have absolutely no idea where that came from, and I’m amazed I still remember it. Probably some sword and sorcery book laying around which I read to stay awake while duty NCO. I doubt Conan, though. Kane, maybe? Something by Poul Anderson? I dunno.
It sounds vaguely familiar but I can’t place it.
