Does there truly exist an insuperable contradiction between religion and science? Can religion be superseded by science? Quantum theory put paid to the purely deterministic universe. Proponents of a deterministic universe state that, given the precise initial state (or any particular later state) of the universe, the entirety of the universe is determined and knowable. Maybe so, but there’s a fly in the ointment: the precise state of this universe isn’t knowable. The exact position, velocity and vector of any object exists as a smear of probabilities.
