“Thy husband is thy lord, thy life, thy keeper,
Thy head, thy sovereign; one that cares for thee,
And for thy maintenance commits his body
To painful labour both by sea and land,
To watch the night in storms, the day in cold,
Whilst thou liest warm at home, secure and safe;
And craves no other tribute at thy hands
But love, fair looks and true obedience;
Too little payment for so great a debt.”
William Shakespeare
I quote this to Camera Girl often but she just laughs and laughs.
My late wife took it to heart.
Damn, I miss her. She told me; “You go be John Wayne and GI Joe and save the country. I’ll keep the home fires burning and your bed warm”.
My condolences. A man who has a good wife has the greatest possession there can be. The Bible says “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.” But that is an understatement.
