30JUN2019 – Quote of the Day

Who are we? And for what are we going to fight? Are we the titled slaves of George the Third? The military conscripts of Napoleon the Great? Or the frozen peasants of the Russian Czar? No — we are the free born sons of America; the citizens of the only republic now existing in the world; and the only people on earth who possess rights, liberties, and property which they dare call their own.

“the citizens of the only republic now existing in the world”

How did the “republic” as the Citadel on the Hill morph into democracy? The founding Fathers looked on democracy with revulsion.

“Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what’s for dinner.” There is no provision in democracy for individual rights, just the power of the mob.

I would say from the late 1860s to the early 1900s and again from the 1970s up to the present excessive immigration allowed demagogues the opportunity to overwhelm good government by promising poor people free stuff.
