A deep thank you to all who served in the US Submarine service. Even in “Peace Time” service on a sub is dangerous as witnessed by Scorpion and Thresher. Grew up on the Connecticut shoreline in a blue collar town about 35 miles from Groton. A lot of folks dads worked at Electric Boat. Also there were a fair number of high ranking Petty Officers who taught at the Sub School in Groton. The Submariners were some of the chillest folks youd ever want to meet, VERY even tempered. My direct as opposed to cinematic sub experience is limited to exploring two museum Gato Class subs, one in Mobile, Alabama Battleship Park and the other in Charleston’s Patriot’s Point.
My only linkage to submarines is through my father-in-law. In WWII he served for a time in the Atlantic and the ship he was on captured a U-Boat. I think that was an unusual circumstance at the time.

Talk about claustrophobia!. Gaaa! not for me!
