Tyler over at the Portly Politico put up a post (see link below) to convince us to support artists on thew Right. He includes links to his work and other right-wing artists (and even me!).
Well, how can I disagree with that? I can tell you personally trying to get your “art” noticed in the digital marketplace is no mean feat. So kudos to him for speaking up.
I’m glad you noticed that! I meant to e-mail you a link to the post this morning, but got caught up with work and such.
It’s a message I’m really hammering home this week. It kills me how we utterly fail at supporting people on our side who create cool stuff.
Can’t wait to get your book in the mail, by the way.
I’m thrilled that you want to read the book. But it’s as you say. We’re out there in the lonely marketplace with very little publicity. I’m going to be talking to my marketer and find out how I can give away an enormous number of e-copies of my book to get the world to notice it’s even there. I’m not sure she’ll embrace my idea. But that’s what I want to do.
I’m excited to do so! You sent me the draft some time ago, but I’m terrible at reading books on my computer. I’m ready to have the physical copies in my hand. Goodread giveaways are apparently a big deal in book promotion for writers just getting their books out there. I’d recommend checking it out. I’d also highly recommend getting in on the next Based Book Sale: https://basedbooksale.substack.com/ Indeed, my absurdist detective book will be up there tomorrow as part of a short story/short story collections sale. The folks at BBS are fantastic, and I’ve done decently well with their… Read more »
I did a giveaway on Goodreads. Apparently over 2,000 people participated and I sent 5 winners a paperback copy. And that’s great but if you write a book you want people to read it and say whether it’s good or bad or meh. If I could I’d have a million people read it. Then I’d be sure to get a statistically significant amount of feedback. But I’m trying to find out from this marketer what is a realistic number for a large giveaway. When I find out I’ll pass the information along. Oh, and I’ll try to get into the… Read more »
Hans is a great dude. Super supportive of up-and-coming authors, and his own output is outstanding. 2000 copies is pretty awesome! That’s the kind of thing you have to do to get to millions of readers, apparently. But I hear you–when people receive something for free, they don’t always value it, which means they don’t always read it! I’m guilty of that myself. Yes, do tell. I’m intrigued. I’ve never done a book giveaway through Goodreads, but it seems to be the standard advice for a new book. I’m slowly getting back into writing some short fiction. In the meantime,… Read more »
