His thesis is that the Democrats ran out of gas in the 1970s and the only things that have kept them in the game since  then is

  1. The Media’s mendacity
  2. The monumental uselessness of the Bush presidencies.

I think he has a point.  Of course considering the demographic trajectory we are on it may have been enough to permanently doom us to Democrat hegemony.
