Wow! What do they call a 300 legged creature? tricentipede? .3millipede?
I assume that, when moving, they have but one gait, otherwise coordination could be a big problem. This bug would be a horror at a cantor much less a full gallop! I can see it flying down a forest path, screaming “look out for me, I cannot see!”
I guess millipede is an exaggeration. I was really surprised to find such a large species up here in New England. It’s not as big as the Giant African Millipedes you see in pet stores but it’s still quite large compared to the tiny ones you find under rocks. I suspect the legs aren’t under very complicated control by the brain. After all there’s not much brain there.
