Taibbi is a lefty who actually believes in the constitution. And by all appearances is an honest man. Such a rare bird.
In this essay he traces the origins of the information state and shows how Americans may have had enough of it.
But has it had enough of us? Taibbi may be a bit too optimistic about his lefty comrades and their willingness to let go of power.
The government may kill the internet on its own by their preferred method – taxes. Heard the plan being formulated in California to place a “journalism” tax on the web? And the lefties at the federal level are waiting to see if California gets away with it.
Sure, it’s like the cable tv scam. I have to pay the salaries of every hack leftist who calls himself a journalist but I’ll have to pay extra to get what I really like, if I can get it at all.
Matt’s essay was worth reading even if only for the header:
“We’ve been trained to think that endless rule by tiny minorities of really horrible people is the natural order of things, but that turns out to be just another lie.”
Imagine that’s a liberal saying it. Maybe there is hope.
