We get daily reminders that this possibly is the late-stage era of empire for America. Open corruption on display with no realistic chance of accountability is the norm with billions spent (stolen?) on foreign conflicts. This enriches the MIC, increases political donations, and the cycle will be repeated as necessary. The next and maybe final domino is the report out of the last NATO summit that an Asia-Pacific pivot for the organization’s mission is in the works. It would be better, I think, to reactivate SEATO than remake the NATO charter to allow them to operate out of their current boundaries. The smaller Asian nations may resent European involvement. And Europe, on the whole, does not have the logistical chain to operate that far away.
