Purging public colleges of these leeches and psychopaths is one of the highest priorities. These departments are the spawning grounds for people who destroy the minds of young people and suck the resources away from useful educational opportunities. For every gender studies department closed down open up a welding class somewhere else.
Yeah, we’re going to be using welders for a long time yet. There are some welding jobs that machines cannot do. Underwater welding is a hard job and robots cannot do it well, especially when it comes to repairs. We’ll need mechanics. Even if we do eventually go electric, there’s no foreseeable battery that can run very large construction equipment for very long. So massive diesel engines for waterborne freighters, trains and farm/construction/mining equipment will be needed. Sheetmetal workers will still be necessary, as will high steel workers.
If you can run CNC machinery, you’ll command salary levels well into that of graduate engineers. There is trade after trade in such high demand and pay levels as to run millions of young people through productive and interesting careers. Stupid beyond imagination to spend 4-6 years on $10’s of thousands of dollars on a useless social “science” degree that will get you started at retail or Starbucks.
All the small manufacturing businesses don’t have to be in Shanghai, China. Or do they?
When you have slave labor, zero safety and en ironmental laws that are enforced, no unions, etc, it’s very hard to beat
