Back in February we had a day where OCF had viewers in 48 states. But today is the first time to my knowledge that there were people in all fifty states checking in on the same day. Not really important but sort of a milestone for me.
Thanks to all the folks checking in from Whatfinger.com.
congratulations!
Congrats!
Three cheers and a tiger!
Tada! Very good to see OCF!
Thanks Folks. I admit it’s kind of a silly thing like collecting baseball cards but when Hawaii finally turned color I got a real kick out of it.
Congratulations, photog! That’s a great milestone. Well done!
More like a fetish but you’d be surprised how annoying it was every time I got 46 or 47 of them. It was becoming an obsession. Thank heavens it’s over.
Finally, your weary soul is at peace. If you were a ghost, that means you’d now be crossing over to the Great Beyond. “My work here on Earth—getting Hawaii and Alaska on the same day!—is complete.”
Tyler, every man my age is a ghost. He is a ghost of himself.
I’ll just be hiding my birth certificate now…
And congratulations photog. That’s a wonderful and impressive milestone.
Now I’m not saying you can’t be a lively ghost but when I’m honest with myself I have to admit the years take their toll. But I’ll go with what Tobey Keith said in the song:
“I ain’t as good as I once was,
But I’m as good once as I ever was.”

You might be a ghost to most, but you’ll always be photog to me.

Tyler I’m more of a country/western ghost.
Hahahaha, I hear ya, photog. The old band I was in years ago, The Lovecrafts, wrote that track, and it came to mind (although I don’t think I actually play on that song).
Here’s our Drive-By Truckers-inspired tune from our last EP; still not very country-western, though: https://thelovecrafts.bandcamp.com/track/just-another-family-song
Do you guys do live performance?
We used to. The group disbanded in 2015 because we were all busy with work, lives, etc. I still perform solo frequently, though; at least, I did before The Virus.
Also, I slapped this little EP together this morning, as a kind of Easter tribute: https://tjcookmusic.bandcamp.com/album/the-lo-fi-hymnal
Hey, those are good. Do you get involved in the music at the church?
Yeah, I’ve played in church orchestras my whole life, usually saxophone. But my little church now is tiny, and we don’t have a band or anything. The little old lady who plays piano is losing her hearing AND eyesight, so it’s a struggle for her to play, so they roped me into doing it about a year ago. Now I LOVE it. One of the things I miss about church. I began taking little recordings during offertory and invitational (and did one of those four at home), and just decided it would be fun to put them up as a… Read more »
That sounds like fun. I’ve often wished I’d picked up an instrument when I was younger.
I’m so glad I come from a musical family that encouraged learning instruments. I tried violin when I was very little (about six) and didn’t stick with it (my older brother started when he was four and played foe years). I took two or three years of piano with my Aunt Cheryl—the best one-eyed piano player in Aiken County—then dropped piano when I started playing saxophone in the 7th grade (1997). I picked piano back up sometime after during and after college, and retaught myself. Now I play saxophone, piano, bass, and a (very, very) little guitar. I also sing… Read more »
No problem with the links. I meant to learn the violin when I was a young man and Camera Girl even bought me a fiddle. But one of my younger brothers had a girlfriend who wanted to learn and when he asked me if he could give it to her I said sure. Bad decision. She was gone in a few months and so was my violin. Ah well.
Ooooh, man. Yep, can’t lend stuff out to the significant other until there is a legally- and spiritually-binding marriage contract, haha. I dated a girl once who absconded with my copy of a Legend of Zelda Nintendo DS game—but it was time for me to put aside childish things, anyways (both the girl and the video game).
So, do you remember if violin was extremely difficult? I guess six years old is kind of too long ago to recall.
