I’ve been washing venetian blinds all morning and am still only half done! I’ve calculated that there are 450 individual slats to clean by hand one at a time. Camera Girl is a harsh mistress. Pardon my absence. I will catch up as soon as I am released from bondage.
As a quick note I listened to ZMan’s Friday podcast and it was on “The Book of Five Rings.” The book’s author was a 17th century Japanese swordsman named Miyamoto Musashi. The book is ostensibly on the strategy of sword fighting but is actually a meditation on the philosophy of living in the real world. I thought his podcast was extremely interesting and I’ll have to read book soon. I wish the podcast was much longer it took my mind off the drudgery I am enduring.

In the flurry (or, perhaps, furry?) of activity this morning in taking Murphy to the vet, I forgot about Z’s podcast! Sounds like a great episode. I’ll give it a listen this afternoon.
It’s a very generic discussion of the ways in which a warrior’s approach to strategy can speak to how we approach political strategy. It sounds interesting and of course the ZMan’s inimitable speaking style adds to its appeal.
As someone with a rich, buttery baritone, I will say that his voice is amazing.
As someone with a voice made for print I am envious of you folks with that gift.
We need to go to one of these Mencken Society events or the like that Z Man frequents. I would like meeting him, The Derb, etc.
It would be interesting to meet them. But I think they would consider my civic nationalism the weakness of a dreamer.
