I was talking on the phone today with an old friend. We got to discussing the situation in New York City and thinking of what it will develop into if the current trends continue. I said it brought to my mind the Lord Humungus and his status as Warlord over his area of the Wasteland in Mad Max. And my friend informed me that something like that is already happening. Some of the gang leaders are starting to move out of the ‘hood and taking control of the infrastructure in the formerly safe neighborhoods of the Upper East Side. For instance, they have begun riding their ATVs on some of the recreational areas that are reserved for bicycles and joggers and walkers. We speculated on the day when the gangs would elect their own mayor and dictate terms to the rest of the city.
My friend wondered if it was time for the next cycle of renewal, if a new Giuliani would restore order to New York City. My opinion was that it was already too late. He thought I was talking about the demographic change. I said in a way. The change was the influx of white hipsters. Without changing the racial mix, they had tipped the city into a permanent radical left majority. My theorem was that unless the leftist whites disappeared the city would continue to slide into anarchy and dysfunction. But my friend wasn’t convinced that even that change would be enough. He felt that the majority minority demographic in New York rendered it permanently dysfunctional. He further asked had any majority minority state ever managed to achieve a healthy functional state. I said how about Singapore. He countered that Singapore is 75% Chinese. Then I mentioned Switzerland and that got him thinking. He had been to Switzerland several times and he was extremely impressed by their harmonious society. But his one point of disagreement was whether we could consider the French, German and Italian populations there different enough from each other to qualify as a good example of a non-homogeneous society. I agreed that the present-day United States was far less harmonious than the Swiss. But I wondered if we could learn something from their example.
But my friend was very pessimistic. I said maybe after the cities crash and burn it will be enough to change people’s minds about the woke nonsense and allow a consensus to restore order. He countered that the elites didn’t push the woke stuff because they believe in it but because it provided a divide and conquer strategy. I replied that I think only a fraction of the Left was this cynical and the rest were true believers in this madness. But as I thought about that it hardly was much comfort.
Maybe he’s right. Maybe there is no way for the rest of our society to overcome the intentional damage that the Left is doing to the United States. But it occurred to me that if a state or states were able to exclude from their jurisdiction the chaos that the Left is inflicting on us maybe they could act as a nucleus and a template for more areas to stamp out the radical lawlessness and anti-white madness that is on display in places like New York, Seattle and Portland.
As far as the form that our society will need to take in a post-white-majority future I don’t assume it will much resemble Switzerland or Singapore. Our combination of Europeans, Hispanics, Blacks and various Asian populations are not the same as these other places. We have different histories and trajectories in this country. But the legal framework that worked in the twentieth century is just as valid with new immigrants as it was with Italians, Germans, Irish and Poles. What we lack is the solidarity among the native-born population to demand that everyone obey the same laws and play by the same rules.
What has evolved on the Left over the last sixty years is a strategy to use black resentment over past injustices as a justification for permanent immunity from the requirement to live in a normal lawful way. Permanent welfare benefits and now immunity from arrest for even violent felonies is not something that can be tolerated in a functional society. It guarantees that no one, not even law-abiding blacks will want to live anywhere near these under-class hell holes. Now the federal government is looking at ways to disperse these criminal populations into the suburbs and rural areas and make the crime and violence a pandemic.
Pandering to this idea of black victimhood will not work. Only a zero-tolerance approach to the lawlessness that is occurring across the country will end the madness. But if we don’t start doing the things we need to, America won’t resemble Switzerland or even Singapore. It will look like Brazil or even South Africa.
If you want a homogeneous society, look at Japan. Hard to get any traction as an immigrant, even from the USA, their protector. They are socially polite but politically anti-immigrant. They will smile at you on the street but ignore you otherwise. Their martial resurgence in reply to China and N. Korea is worrisome, much as if Germany decided to rearm.
I think a heterogeneous population can certainly be functional as long as there is a civic spirit that all share. But our elites are determined to dynamite our nation and turn it into Yugoslavia.
