The governor of Arizona wasn’t pleased with Nike caving to the whims of unemployed football player Colin Kaepernick. Apparently old Colin thinks that the American Revolution was racist so he told Nike to cancel their sneaker with the 13 star Betsy Ross flag on it. So Arizona Governor Doug Ducey cancelled Nike’s incentive package for moving to Arizona. Good! Someone with backbone.

Okay! Codevilla is openly considering whether the red states should start emulating the blue states. If the blue states openly defy drug laws then what if the red states defy the laws they disagree with; abortion, homosexuality, pornography, etc. Of course you see how this goes downhill fast. The next round on their side would be the 1st and 2nd amendments. Codevilla is fast approaching the dissident right’s positions, if not from a philosophical perspective then at least from a tactical and practical perspective.

The Mexican government on Wednesday arrested 350 Central Americans, including two prominent “migrant rights” activists, who were part of a large group headed toward the United States. Mexico is also planning to deploy an additional 6,000 national guard troops to its border with Guatemala.

Sounds like the real deal and not just lip service. President Trump’s threat of tariffs is brilliant indeed. When he said Mexico would build the wall this is how he meant it. Leverage.

But I still praise him for the accuracy of his point by point comparison. Comparing the present age to post-republican Rome has become a common trope but Hanson points out just how accurate it is. Nothing new here, just the scholarly expertise of the author pointing out the exactness of the analogy.

Well, just for the sake of pride I will say that I did my review first, but Joshua Sharf wrote a very fine review of the film and delved into the contrast with the liberal homage that the Warren Beatty film was. I enjoyed reading this article. I think I’ll watch the film again. It’s worth it.
