Nobody’s Clapping Joe

Approval rating, legitimacy, consent of the governed.  These words mean different things.  But they are linked.  The consent of the governed is needed to provide legitimacy to a government.  And if the approval rating for a leader, edges down to a third of the voters it starts to look like the consent of that country is evaporating.

I think what we are seeing is America turning its back on Dementia Joe.  A quarter of his term is over and he has shown himself to be dishonest, dangerous and incompetent.  America doesn’t know how to get rid of Biden but they want him to go away.  As a proxy for that we will take away his legislative enablers, the Democrat majorities in the House and Senate.  This will force him to rely on executive orders to perpetrate his crimes against the Constitution and the American people.

Now this has happened before.  In fact, most presidents lose seats in congress during the off-year election.  Probably Obama is closest to Biden’s case in terms of paying for his progressive overreach during his off-year election in 2010.  He is closest but not close.  Biden is a very special case.  Not since Carter have we had a president who ignited an economic disaster as Joe has with the runaway inflation now afflicting the working people of America.  And when you combine that with the other two plagues; rampant urban crime and COVID tyranny; and with the fact that he sounds like a dementia patient, what you get is a someone who is not a credible leader.  And when that happens people no longer give him the benefit of the doubt.

I think an example of this was how the AP reporter started challenging the State Department spokesman who called a press conference to announce the supposed Russian false flag operation against the Ukraine.  The reporter refused to take the spokesman’s word at face value and asked for some kind of proof of his allegations.  And even the usually compliant jellyfish at CNN and MSNBC are beginning to push back against the more patently false statements and lame explanations that the administration feeds them concerning inflation, crime and other ongoing catastrophes.  So even his usually dependable stenographers are showing incredulity at the bolder lies being distributed.

But it’s more than that.  A large and growing percentage of Americans are done with this president and his administration.  They want a solution to moving on from this dysfunctional mess we’re in.  It’s like when a mayor has betrayed the police force in his town and the police respond by turning their backs on the mayor at a formal ceremony.  It’s a vote of no confidence.  The American people have no confidence in Joe Biden.  They don’t like him.  They don’t trust him.  And they want him to go away.

But how to get rid of him?  Even after the mid-terms we won’t have anywhere near enough senators to convict him during an impeachment trial.  I think it requires a two thirds majority.  And even if we did, we’d end up with Kamala Harris which would be equally if differently bad.  We’d have to impeach her too and then we’d end up with the Speaker of the House which would probably be Kevin McCarthy.  And that wouldn’t be much of an improvement.

So, we’ll be in a bad position for three more years.  We’ll be stuck with Biden.  The damage he’ll be able to do will be somewhat limited but he’ll continue to harm us every way he can.  He’ll allow illegal aliens to flood the country and he’ll use executive decrees to undermine the laws that are supposed to protect us.

But at least no serious person will pretend that he’s anything but the lying, crack-brained, crooked creep that he’s always been.  There won’t be any more applause or even polite silence.  It will be derision and hatred for the rest of his miserable and despised term in office.  Let’s go Brandon.

If you work your way through the list there is no good news for Biden and the Dems.  Everything is either things going our way or it’s things that Biden or some other Lefty is doing that are driving the public to despise them.  It’s not a good idea to underestimate the Republicans’ talent for screwing up a good thing but it seems that since August Biden has seemed like that guy in the cartoon surrounded by rakes, that he keeps stepping on, and that keep hitting him in the face.  Well, good!  After 2020 we’re certainly overdue for some good news.  The question that has to be asked is, do we expect this to continue?

I think the answer is yes.  Regardless of the pat answers that the Left has been handing out, the supply chain problems and inflation don’t just disappear because we don’t find them convenient.  Dementia Joe can beg the Saudis all he likes to drop the cost of oil but that’s not how it works.  The economic pain that he is causing almost everyone is not going away and his COVID policies continue to aggravate just about everyone, even a lot of his supporters.

The next question is how will this play out in the short, medium and long range?  In the short and middle range, the administration’s attempt to railroad the reconciliation bill through the objections of Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin is failing miserably and this failure is panicking the Congressional Democrats who are coming up for reelection in less than a year.  In fact, it’s now a foregone conclusion that the Democrats will lose the House of Representatives in 2022.  And it’s beginning to look like there may be a wave election that sweeps large numbers of both Democrat representatives and senators out of office.  If this happens then the Biden administration is essentially dead in the water.  Without the Senate it’s a cinch that no more judges in any of the federal courts will be approved and it’s also a certainty that no controversial legislation will occur.

In the long term it looks like the Biden presidency will be something worse than the Carter presidency.  A number of people are beginning to think that Biden will not serve out his full term.  In fact, some pundits think the Democrats are looking to get rid of both Biden and Harris.  And if the House is going to be lost in November, then it becomes important to swap out vice presidents before then because the House is in charge of approving vice-presidential appointments.  All kinds of horror stories have been whispered about Hillary or Michelle Obama being installed as vice president in time to allow a transition when Dementia Joe resigns.  The desperation that would warrant these kinds of bizarre strategies is wonderful to contemplate.  The reality of just how total a train wreck the Biden presidency has become is something to behold.  Federal judges are putting holds on each of his vaccine mandates and look almost certain to declare them unconstitutional.  If and when the federal COVID overreach is ended by the courts Joe will probably declare victory over COVID and do some kind of victory lap.  But the anger he has already fostered will not be going away.  The way things are going we are looking at a long slow burn for the American public waiting to get rid of the monstrosity that they had foisted on them in January.

Now what could go wrong with this analysis?  Obviously, the Stupid Party could come to the rescue of the Evil Party by virtue of their stupid.  Guys like Mitch McConnell live with their heads completely enclosed in their butts.  Another strategy that could be used to distract the public from Joe’s failures is a convenient war.  And finally, there is the chance that against all odds everything starts turning around for Joe just when he needs it to.  Manchin could finally take the bribe and inflation could magically disappear and Biden’s brain could be found and reinstalled.

But I’ll have to say I’ve become quite bullish for the chances that the Biden presidency is a dead duck.  Call me a crazy optimist but that’s what I think.

2021 Election Stuff

I’ve been recovering the last few days from a bug.  It had some of the symptoms of a flu like muscle aches and headache but no fever.  Very strange.  But sitting in the center of the witches’ brew of manufactured viruses and untested vaccines I wouldn’t be surprised if tomorrow I woke up and had blue stripes running around my face.

We live in interesting times.  The Nov 2nd election day is pretty small stuff but the gubernatorial elections in Virginia and New Jersey will be very early tests of just how unpopular the Democrats have made themselves.  New Jersey is a very blue state but they alternate between Democrat and Republican governors.  The Republicans are brought in every eight years to undo some of the damage done by the previous Democrat regime.  But this is just the end of the Democrat’s first term so a loss would be unusual. Massachusetts does a similar thing.  All federal positions are a Democrat lock but they bring in a Republican governor whenever the taxes, graft and dysfunction become too painful.

Virginia recently slipped from a purple state to a blue one.  It’s assumed the Democrats will hold the governor’s mansion.  But the Loudon County public schools CRT flap and the recent rapes by a “transgender” student have rattled a lot of suburban moms and there is a thought that this might tip the election to the Republican.

With respect to New Jersey, I think it’s highly unlikely that they will replace their current Democrat governor.  He’s only served one four-year term and although he has killed a goodly number of nursing home residents during the COVID debacle he probably hasn’t completely drained the state treasury yet.  So, I say he’ll be reelected.

In Virginia I think this election will be a test case for how thorough the state’s fraudulent election process is.  If they’ve locked it down so that no matter how many votes the Republicans get the Democrats will still win by the requisite two percent then this will be a bellwether for the rest of the country.  And it will throw the gauntlet down for any states like Georgia that have enacted legislation to prevent fraud.  With the whole country watching if Virginia is able to thumb their noses at election fraud scrutiny and bring home the bacon for the Democrats then Atlanta is going to have to suck it up and repeat the bang up job they did in 2020.

But if by some miracle, both governors’ races go to the Republicans it will be a flashing red light that 2022 will be a massacre for the Democrats.  And it might mean even Democrats don’t like what’s happening in their country and want to turn things around.  But we’re talking major miracles here so I don’t think so.

As far as the country at large it has been heartening to see the rise of the “Let’s Go Brandon” meme and also the Jet Pack Joe thing too.  Seeing Dementia Joe denigrated and mocked is a great thing indeed.  What I’d love to see is a little chant going on in the White House press briefing.  How would Psaki react to that?

Some people probably don’t think that open mockery of the president is that big a deal.  But they’re wrong.  Having this ricochet around the news cycle is exactly the kind of thing that demoralizes the people in the administration who are the true believers and think they’ve got the youth demographic on their side.  To hear stadiums of young people shouting the Joe Biden f-bomb chant puts the lie to that.  But like any meme they get stale quickly so something new is needed every month or so.  Hopefully some new angle on the mockery will surface soon.  And it will.  Looking at Biden performing at that town hall it’s pretty apparent that he is not a well man.  And that’s even taking his age into account.  With the economy in a stagflation death spiral it won’t be long before Joe will be forced to give the Carter Malaise Speech which should be the last nail in the coffin.  I wonder how Kamala will like being president in 2022 when the Congress flips against her?  Hopefully she’s practicing that creepy cackle that she stole from Hillary for the questions she’ll get that election day.

Boy, I sound much too cheerful.  I guess I haven’t bought gasoline recently.  When I do that should sober me up.  Now that I’m mostly recovered, I hope to get back to my usual schedule.  Halloween is Sunday and I’ve been trying to come up with something appropriate but nothing has presented itself so far.  But I’ll do my best to honor the holiday.  Tradition is important.

Well, that enough for now.  Stay tuned for bigger and better things.

Update: Interestingly, Fox News has come out with a poll showing the Republican candidate in the Virginia  governor’s race  (Youngkin) is ahead 53% to 45%.  Well shut my mouth and stuff it up with corn pone!  The South is rising again!
