Observations on a Sunday Night – Yeats Again

“Turning and turning in the widening gyre

The falcon cannot hear the falconer;

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;

Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,

The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere

The ceremony of innocence is drowned;

The best lack all conviction, while the worst

Are full of passionate intensity.

…”

from The Second Coming by William Butler Yeats

Yeats was onto something all those years ago.  Russia and China are starting to cut the strings that attach themselves to the global entity.  It appears there will be other options to the woke organizing model.  Nationalist sensibilities and more traditional societal structures than the atomized Facebook model are beginning to assert itself outside the control of the US and Europe.  We may have a reached a tipping point with the sanctions against Russia and the reaction of Chinese.  The globalist project may have bitten off much more than they can chew.

First the collapse of Afghanistan.  Watching the debacle and hearing the reactions of the Left, confirms that their priority was turning a primitive Islamic state into an LGBTQ vacation destination.  They had no idea how impossible their vision of Afghanistan was.  Only American riflemen permitted the center of Kabul to pretend that the Taliban weren’t in control of more than half the country already.  And seeing the rout occur as it did; with desperate Afghanis plunging to their deaths from the wheels of departing military transport aircraft, suicide bombers murdering US servicemen and in misdirected and impotent retaliation, an American cruise missile killing an innocent Afghan family; demonstrated the delusional mindset of the globalists running this operation and their incompetence.

Second, the crashing of the American economy into stagflation.  The greens’ war against fossil fuels has ignited runaway inflation and this along with the other domestic crises caused by Leftist initiatives like the “defund the police” movement have alienated the voting population in a convincing manner.  The likelihood of a recession is already panicking Wall Street.  And the prospect of this crisis stretching out until 2025 may finally overcome even the stupidest American’s ability to believe in idiocy.

And finally, the CIA’s color revolution in the Ukraine and Biden’s decision to go to the mat against Putin with draconian sanctions may be the straw that finally breaks the camel’s back and forces China and Russia to escape from the American dollar’s stranglehold on global economic activity.  If China begins to decouple its currency from the dollar, we may begin to see the true end of America’s economic primacy.

“Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold.”  The incompetence of our globalist elites will be their downfall.  They espouse positions that are incompatible with a healthy society.  They are driving our civilization to ruin and in a hurry.  The only silver lining to this situation is that some dissident countries like Hungary and Poland may escape the toxic effects of the globalist entity and survive.  How they will align themselves with Russia and China and any other non-woke countries is an important question for the future.  Wouldn’t it be a strange circumstance if Russia and China, the former premier communist despotic regimes led the way to a league of independent nations that escape from the globalist prison house of nations.

“Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world.”  That Yeats guy was a prophet.  I’ll use him repeatedly in the future.

Russian Banks Moving to Chinese Credit Card System

I guess this was inevitable.  Russian banks have been suspended from using Visa and MasterCard.  So they’ve switched over to the Chinese UnionPay card system.  The world is changing.  It’s bigger than it used to be.  The Americans did this to themselves when they made China into an industrial powerhouse.  Now the West’s economic power is reduced.  We’ll have to see how all this plays out in the coming months and years.

Maybe having a multipolar world will be better for the prospects of freedom in the United States.  The world is changing.

Progressive Swedes Admit Puberty Blockers for Children is Medical Malpractice

The Swedes are not conservatives.  They are ultra-feminists.  But they have looked clearly at the medical results of using these drugs on children and they recognize that they damage the bodies of children sometimes tragically.

“The new guidelines come just months after a report claimed that doctors at the Karolinska University Hospital had been well aware of children with injuries as a result of hormone blockers for months before the injuries became public in November.

In one case, a girl who wanted to become a boy was put on puberty blockers at age 11 and developed serious side effects after five years of treatment, including osteoporosis and damage to the vertebrae in the child’s back.

“He felt so bad that he tried suicide attempts on several occasions. We didn’t understand, we thought our child would feel better from the treatment,” the mother of the child said.

Karolinska University Hospital, once a pioneer in gender dysphoria treatment for children in Sweden, stopped recommending hormone treatments in May of last year due to potential side effects from the treatment.”

The trans-psychopaths in our country don’t want to know the truth.  Hurting children doesn’t interest them.  Affirmation of their self-image does.  Hopefully people fighting this in our country will look at the results that the ultra-progressive Swedes discovered the hard way by being at the cutting edge of insanity.

How Do We Last Until 2025?

A single day doesn’t seem to go by without some new Biden caused or related disaster occurring.  War, famine, pestilence, financial collapse, you name it.  The only thing missing from the list is an asteroid strike and I’m sure that the Biden team has their stupidest man working on it right now.

But seriously, these are going to be trying times.  Like everyone else I’m counting the pennies and figuring out how to reduce costs and pay for growing bills with shrinking assets.  It’s going to be extremely difficult in the weeks and months ahead.  And let’s face it, regardless of what kind of blowout the Democrats suffer in November there will be a Democrat in the White House torturing us until early in 2025.  That’s a very long time.  We won’t get through it by trying to hold our breath all the way through.

We’re going to have to be protect ourselves from all the nonsense they’ll do to break us down.  Each of us will have to do the best we can to roll with the punches and avoid being ground down by the myriad of problems these people create; money problems, crime waves, propaganda aimed at our children, more COVID fascism possibly.  We’ll have to be smart and strong.

But just as important as all these things is maintaining morale.  Your spiritual health is just as important as your physical health.  You’ve got to make time to be happy.  And that’s especially true if you are working harder to keep from falling behind.  Take some time out every day and do something that nourishes the mind and soul.  Call up an old friend and find out how he’s doing.  Visit an aged relative and bring a little joy into her day.  Buy a good book and take twenty minutes out of your day to read it.  Take a course in something you’ve always wanted to learn.  It doesn’t have to be at a college.  It could be an on-line course.  If you’re isolated by circumstances then join some activity at a local club.

Of course, if you have a young family, then make time each day to help your kids with all the things they are doing.  Make sure you know what they are thinking about.  Find out what problems they are dealing with.  With the COVID masking still going on at schools make sure they’re dealing with the stress reasonably well and let them know things will be getting better very soon.  Talk at the dinner table and try to keep their morale high too.  Find other families that you can plan outings and events with that don’t cost an arm and a leg.

And plan for the future.  Look forward to better times.  Make a list of improvements you want for your future and then start to figure out a plan to accomplish one of them first.  Don’t start with the one where you become a billionaire.  Figure out the one where you lose twenty pounds or replace the kitchen floor or get a promotion at work.

All of this is a plan to keep a positive attitude and get yourself and your loved ones through some tough times that are coming up.  And most importantly get out of the house and feel the sun on your face once in a while.  Cabin fever is a real thing especially in the cold latitudes but everywhere else too to some extent.  And of course, I’m part of the problem, but get away from the computer once in a while.

One day Joe Biden will be in the rear-view mirror.  But until then maintain your sanity and nourish your soul by balancing the stress with some fun.  Doctor’s orders.

Renewing Camera Girl’s Contract

I have often commented to Camera Girl that since people nowadays live enormously longer on average than people in the pre-modern era that the institution of marriage with its whole “’til death do us part” clause is behind the times and needs to be updated with more nuanced language.  However, I never say this when she’s holding a sharp knife.  She’s excitable.

But it’s fair to say that a fifty-year reevaluation event seems warranted.  We’ve got another five years before that milestone but I felt it was a good idea to start some preliminary exercises to determine if an emergency early intervention would be needed.

Today I went on an inspection to see how she was doing.  This morning when I came down for breakfast, I carefully examined the meal for signs of insufficiency or insincerity.  The scrambled eggs and pumpernickel bagel seemed up to snuff.  Check.  The breakfast conversation was satisfactory.  Check.  But the after-breakfast banter seemed to die away.  I was sitting in the living room working diligently on very important web site related work.  But there was none of the expected wifely encouraging, congratulatory pep talk that somehow, I think should have been there.  Maybe just a random “Let’s go photog!” thrown in every few minutes.  That seems reasonable.  Within a half hour my rage built up to the point where I actually got up and went into the kitchen to investigate this outrage.

Well, she probably heard me coming because she managed to throw up a smoke screen of cooking food.  As evidence she had a red sauce with meatballs on the stove and a pan of sausages in the oven and an Italian cheese cake under construction on the counter.  Well, okay.  Check, check, check.  She seemed to be busy.  Seemed!

I went back to the living room thinking furiously on what I had seen.  Well, the kids and grandkids were coming tomorrow for dinner.  I guess maybe cooking was a prerequisite for the meal.  Maybe it would be a little unreasonable for her to do all the cooking after I went to bed so as not to interfere with the very important wifely responsibilities of cheering on the king in his daily battles.  Could it be possible she was in the right?  Was it possible I was being selfish?  Me?  “I’m the Bad Guy?  How did that happen?”

Faced with this confusing thought, I retreated to first principles.  What would Ralph Kramden do?  Ah, that’s better.  Obviously, this pretend-hard-working act was a plot to undermine my sense of self-righteousness.  As such it qualified as disloyalty, the ultimate wifely sin.  Hah!  I knew it.  I’m the good guy.  I win again!

Well, once that had been worked out to my full satisfaction, I felt better and could afford to be magnanimous.  I went into the kitchen and patted her on the arm and praised her for the wonderful work she was doing.  This seemed to confuse her a little but she kept working and almost seemed to ignore my presence.  Well, sure.  Not everyone has my ability to multi-task.  I smiled tolerantly and made a silent benediction over her efforts.  A wise man once wrote that, “uneasy is the head that wears a crown.”  And so true it is.  I’m constantly employed providing guidance and useful advice on any number of things around here.  My inexhaustible supply of knowledge is always improving her efforts.  Noblesse oblige as the say.

I guess the outcome is I’ll let things lay for the next five years.  Sure, she tries to undermine my authority but she’s a hard-working member of the team and I like to reward effort.  Plus she’s related to my children and family is family.  Well done Camera Girl, well done.
