Winning the Culture War

For most of my life the United States has been in the throes of a culture war.  It hasn’t always been described in those terms and sometimes the battles weren’t as visible as they are now.  But anyway you measure it, the world has been preoccupied with the Left’s struggle to make over people and society in a non-traditional form.  It mostly became apparent in the 1960s with the hippies and the other non-traditional activities.  Roe v. Wade was a major event.  It quieted down a little during the 1980s but it never really retreated and by the time Barack Obama was in the White House normalcy more or less disappeared from this country.

I would say that Donald Trump’s appearance in 2016 was the first time in my lifetime that someone was willing to point at all the things that were wrong with the way things were being done and say. “I will change these things back to the way they should be.”  And then he went about doing what he said he would do.  He’s attacked illegal immigration and all the things it causes; high healthcare costs, huge budget deficits, crime, low wages, anti-white hate, government fraud, voter fraud and on and on.

And when he tried to implement his fixes both political parties attacked him with everything they had.  They started a race war and tried to lock down the country in order to commit enormous voter fraud.  But after hell and high water he got back in the White House in 2025 and now he’s quintupling down on deporting illegal aliens and trying to improve the economy for real Americans.  He’s done as much as can be done to bring back jobs from overseas and anything else that can make things work better in this country.

And I give him full marks for trying.  Will it be enough to accomplish all of his goals?  I’ll guess it won’t.  Will he lose the Congress in 2026?  Maybe.  But I don’t see how that can be his fault.  The world is a rough place and American voters aren’t all that bright.  They are easily distracted by pain of any kind.  But the question that I’m trying to answer is will we see the culture war decisively turn in our favor in the years to come?

I know what answer I want.  I want to believe that people have learned enough to see what’s in their best interests.  If they want their children and grandchildren to be prosperous and free they need to keep the Left out of power and strip away all of the progressive laws that have crippled Americans’ ability to thrive.  And there is some hope on that front.  The present Supreme Court is overturning laws that allow for things like affirmative action that are obviously unconstitutional and always were.  But will this effort continue or stall out?

Well, let me pose this question to you the readers.  Do you think the culture war has changed direction and we’ll continue to make headway?  Leave your view in the comments.

Greg Bovino Press Conference in MN

Bovino is one of the head honchos with Border Patrol and together with his associate from ICE they gave an update on the MN operation and also addressed the protester with the gun who got himself shot.

I’ll say I like his style and the way he addresses the press.  He lays the whole situation out as basically the choice of the protesters that have bought into Frey’s and Walz’s framing that obstructing law enforcement is a reasonable activity instead of a crime.

Bovino said that these people have made poor choices and these have terrible consequences.  So Frey and Walz are trying to repeat the playbook from the Summer of Floyd and Trump and ICE won’t have it.

The Mysterious Twenty Percent

Today, Minneapolis was revolting.  I mean there was a general strike by all the communists up there who are angry because the federal government is enforcing immigration law against illegal aliens living in Minneapolis.  I saw some sound bites of scruffy looking individuals screeching about the children of illegal aliens being incarcerated with their illegal parents.  Of course, they’d be screeching even more if the children were separated from their parents as they were deported.  So damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

The “reporters” stressed the fact that these crowds were protesting despite the ongoing cold-pocalypse that threatens to make really, really cold Minneapolis really, really, really cold.  I saw a video clip of some Karen go into a Target store and fill two shopping carts with merchandise and then bring them to a check out counter and then inform the cashier that she wasn’t buying any of it but just did it to make more work for the Target employees.  Then she said that everyone; shoppers and employees should follow her out of Target and join the “general strike” to protest the ICE activities in Minneapolis.  Well, no one else seemed excited so she abandoned her carts and marched out of Target.

I’ve read that ICE has arrested 3,000 illegal aliens in Minneapolis during this recent operation.  That doesn’t sound like all that much.  But I’m sure it’s a very good start under the circumstances they’re dealing with there.  But I think this effort being expended by the Trump administration is an excellent tactic.  It is exposing just how radical the Minneapolitans are.  It is applying pressure on the city and state officials who are supporting the sanctuary efforts and it is allowing radical individuals to open themselves up to arrest and incarceration.

A perfect example of this is the group of radicals who invaded the church service this week.  Along with Don Lemon, other idiots went into a church during Sunday service and spewed hate and filth.  As they found out there are federal statutes that make this action felonious.  And several of them have already been arrested and if things go the right way Don Lemon may join them.  The most hilarious aspect of this is that Don Lemon may be charged under a law that was initially created to attack the Ku Klux Klan.  Only a heart of stone could keep from laughing at that.

I read that murder in the United States was down 20% in 2025.  This is the largest drop since they started keeping this statistic.  The article claimed they couldn’t figure out why this had happened.  I think I know why.

Donald Trump.

Trump has closed the borders.  Therefore, gang members from Mexico and Latin America can’t travel back and forth with impunity.  These gang members commit an enormous amount of violent crime.  Also, Trump has deported and jailed thousands and thousands of illegal aliens.  Many, many of these are criminals.  The fact that the author of this article claimed he couldn’t figure out why murders had dropped twenty percent between 2024 and 2025 is pretty funny.  But I’m not laughing.  I’m smiling.  Keep it up Donald.

Martyrs of Various Sorts

So, what to talk about tonight?  Well, the crazies are out in force throughout the blue states.  I read they’ve set up a “no-go” zone in Minneapolis.  I imagine that won’t go so well.  When ICE shows up to arrest the illegal aliens among them, there is sure to be violence and probably deaths.  Similar stuff is happening in all the other crazy places like Portland and Philadelphia.  I heard about the two illegal aliens that got shot going up against ICE.  So, I guess this is the status quo from now on.  I give Trump and his people all my sympathy for having to do a really awful job.  And I’m very glad that they haven’t given up.

As far as the Iranian and Venezuelan and the Greenlandian fronts, what can I say?  Venezuela is easy.  They’ll do as they’re told.  Iran is going to be interesting.  It’s obvious that the Israelis have infiltrated the country and have in the last couple of days begun assassinating IRGC commanders, even using drones in the process.  If that is the case then I assume they’ll start lending support to the rebellion.  I guess they’ll provide them with guns and intel about troop movements and whatever other aid they can muster.  But how this ends up is anyone’s guess.  The Islamic Republic has been a nexus for evil and death since I was a very young man.  I would dearly love for this to be their last gasp.  And I wouldn’t even care if the Ayatollah was packed off to Moscow or anywhere else they’d have him.  Just having Iran as a normal country would be an amazing improvement for the whole world.  Hezbollah, Hamas and all the other crazies would be deprived of a base and a source of funding.  And all the countries around Iran could finally relax and try to fix their own problems instead of battling the religious maniacs that the ayatollahs kept unleashing throughout the Middle East.

As for Greenland, who cares?  Does it really matter one way or another?  For pity’s sake it’s just a big chunk of ice in the middle of the Arctic.  If Trump wants to haggle with the Danes, let him.  No harm, no foul.

I finally saw the video from the point of view of the ICE agent who shot the female driver.  Her crazy “wife” was taunting the ICE agents and it looks like the driver just sped into the agent.  I wouldn’t fault the shooter at all.  A car is a deadly weapon when you drive it at someone and a cop knows that someone who tries to run him over is basically asking to be shot.  I’m sad for her kids especially ending up in the custody of the crazy lesbian who married their mother but Minneapolis and places like it are full of martyrs to the cause of Leftism.  They need useful idiots to do stupid things like what she did.  The question today is how many more like her are there willing to get shot.  We’ll know soon.

Rename it Trumpland

Trump had a press conference about opening up Venezuela to American Oil Companies.  Of course it was full of “Trump speak;” the greatest this, the greatest that, etc.  But what it came down to is Trump is telling the Venezuelans that American oil companies will be returning to Venezuela and will be under the protection of the American military.  That’s pretty damn good.

These companies had all of their oil extraction and processing equipment seized when Communist Hugo Chávez became the leader in Venezuela.  He nationalized the industry and it proceeded to fall apart.  Instead of engineers the industry was handed over to political hacks.  They brought in the Cubans to help them and they proved that they could make a fabulously oil rich country into a basket case in just a decade or so.

Of course, Trump didn’t provide a lot of the details on how these things will be arranged.  But based on how things worked before Chávez botched it up, the oil companies and Venezuela will both make lots of money.  And all of that extracted oil will lower the price of American gasoline and oil by quite a bit once it’s going strong.

As I said, “Trump speak” is maddening.  It’s like listening to one of Muhammed Ali’s jibber-jabber brag sessions before his fights.  Everything is over the top and outrageous but the results are there.  Ali was the greatest fighter of his generation and Trump is the only President in forty years to actually produce the results he promised.  So, I’ll let him have his bragging session and then I’ll look for a translation into English and the bottom line.  He’s pretty smart.  Increasing oil production (enormously) will have a major positive effect on consumer costs in the United States.  And the revenues that these oil companies will gain will also improve our GDP.  And capturing Maduro let’s Latin America know that Trump doesn’t play games with tin-pot dictators shipping fentanyl to this country.  I expect to see positive results in Mexico and maybe even China because of this.

Okay so where does that leave us with Iran and Ukraine and Greenland?  Well, I may have underestimated the people of Iran.  The actions there have grown from protests to open rebellion.  They’re burning down police stations and IRGC barracks and so far, the military doesn’t seem to be able to stop it.  The size of the crowds is staggering.  There are literally millions of people in the streets of dozens of large cities.  I think the Ayatollah is going to take a plane ride to Moscow and join Assad in the section of Moscow reserved for former Middle Eastern dictators in retirement.  It looks that active.

Ukraine is hopeless.  The Russians and Ukrainians will fight to the last man.  God help them all.

Now what the hell are we going to do with Greenland?  Military bases, oil and mineral extraction?  Ice for drinks?  Trump says he wants to buy it.  I mean, who figures out a fair price for Greenland?  But as I’ve said, after you get finished with the bluster get a translation into English and chances are you’ll discover that Trump is right about Greenland too.  But what do you bet he wants to rename it Trumpland?

Minnesota in the Balance

So, what is next in Minnesota?  One of the Left’s acolytes tried to play “chicken” with the ICE agents and got herself killed.  That’s pretty scary stuff.  The real question is what comes next?  Will they escalate and attack the agents again?  Or will they back off?  I start to wonder if even they know what they’re doing.  These are highly emotional almost emotionally disturbed individuals who have been preached to by people on the Left who don’t seem to care that they’re going to get some of them killed.  These provocateurs are the same sort that attacked Kyle Rittenhouse during the George Floyd riots of 2020.  They rile up the useful idiots who follow these protests and that is exactly how you end up with a woman who has no idea how dangerous it is to drive into a police operation and then disobey the orders of those police when they point their guns at you and tell you to get out of your car, get herself killed.

I heard Walz addressing his constituents and begging them not to give Trump an excuse for declaring martial law or invoking the Insurrection Act.  And this makes me wonder whether this is just cover.  Would Walz be happier if things blow up in Minnesota or would he prefer the fraud investigation to be the top news item in the country.  I honestly don’t know the answer to that.  Minnesota is a bottomless pit of leftist madness so it’s almost impossible to know which crazy cause or interest group will erupt into madness next.  But it looks like Minnesota is going to be ground zero for all of the problems that Donald Trump is trying to fix; fraud in government programs funded by the Biden administration, sanctuary state activities that interfere with ICE arrests of illegal aliens, transgender policies that lead to minors receiving dangerous medical treatments and finally discrimination against anyone who doesn’t follow the progressive mantra.

The flip-side of this question about Minnesota is what will Trump do?  Will he back off after the death of Renee Good or will he continue to arrest illegal aliens that are emphatically present all-around Minneapolis.  This is million-dollar question.  Trump has staked his presidency on deporting the millions of illegals hiding in the blue states.  If he lets Minnesota or New York or California defy him and prevent the deportations he will lose his backing.  But at the same time, he knows he can’t spook the moderates by appearing to turn the country into a battle ground.  So, he has to strike a balance.  And that is why the death of Renee Good is a tricky problem.  Will it scare Trump?

I hope the answer is no.  I think in the long run the vigorous enforcement of the immigration law will have both a positive effect on Trump’s voters and a negative effect on the Left’s morale and election turnout.  So, I think along with his efforts to improve the economy Trump shouldn’t be afraid to go after sanctuary states like Minnesota as hard as he can.  That’s my opinion.

These Are the Things I Think About

Tim Walz has been dominating the left-nutjob news cycle for the last week or two.  But his compatriots in the “Gopher State” (also sometimes nicknamed more accurately as “New England of the West”) decided to provide him with some cover so they decided, “Let’s just go insane and force ICE agents to shoot us!”  Someone named Renee Nicole Good decided to menace ICE agents with her car and when they ordered her to get out of her car she drove toward the officer standing in front of her car and got herself shot.  She subsequently died and now she is a martyr for stupid leftists everywhere.  But refusing to be upstaged Walz has declared that he is going to call in the National Guard to repel the ICE agents.  Now that is what I call dialing the stupid up to eleven.

Things seem to be accelerating.  Well, why not?  I hope Trump is preparing to send special forces into the Minnesota Governor’s Mansion and provide Tampon Tim with the cell next to President Maduro.  And while he’s at it he might as well add Mayor Frey to his collection of annoying political losers.  Now some people are worried this stuff will boil over into civil war.  I’m not.  Now if we are talking about war, then we can find better things to worry about.  Russia, China even Iran have some dangerous military assets and a track record for war.  But Tim Walz does not have a history of fighting.  He is willing to allow rioters to burn down various urban centers in his state as is Mayor Frey.  But personally get involved in war?  No, he resigned from the National Guard when his unit was scheduled to go to Iraq.  So no, Walz doesn’t do war.  I read that Trump declared that he has proof that George Soros is funding the Antifa violence and he’s going to go after him for it.  Well, what has he been waiting for?  Don’t tell us, show us.  Give Soros the cell next to Walz.  I’m sure listening to Walz for even a short time would drive Soros to suicide.

But things definitely seem to be reaching some kind of crescendo.  Maybe I was wrong about Iran.  It’s starting to look like the anti-government protests are reaching some kind of critical mass where the mullahs might actually flee the way Assad did in Syria in December, 2024.  Imagine if the Iranians actually end the Islamic republic and go back to just being a normal country.  Suddenly Hamas, Hezbollah and half of the other crazies in the Middle East would lose all their funding.  Maybe all those terrorists would have to get jobs and work for a living.

But I will miss the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei chanting Death to the Great Satan!  Of course, the previous Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini chanted the same thing.  And you know, their names are really similar.  Coincidence?  I don’t think so!  And they look a lot alike.  I think they had the same beard.  Hey, maybe they’re really the same guy!  Maybe he just made believe he died to get the life insurance money.  Well, it’s too bad Jimmy Carter couldn’t have lasted a few more years.  He could have lived to see the guys who lost him his re-election bounced out of Iran.

These are the things I think about.

You Won’t Have Tim Walz to Kick Around Anymore

Tim Walz, that hero of the George Floyd Riots (I mean protests), the only politician stupid enough to make Kamala Harris look like the smart half of the ticket, is not running for re-election.  Well, well, well.  How the knuckleheaded hath fallen.  Okay, now things will get interesting.  The ongoing investigations into Somali scams that ate up billions of dollars should be very interested in exactly what Tim knew and when he knew it.  Who knows, maybe Tim might have to defend himself in court against charges that he was complicit in the large-scale fraud that occurred in the state he ran as governor.  Or maybe he wasn’t part of the fraud.  Maybe he really is as stupid as he says he is.  If that’s the case then it’s the voters of Minnesota who are at fault.  They elected and re-elected this guy.  After all he was the one at ground zero when the George Floyd riots were getting started and he did nothing to stop them.  In fact, he enabled them in every way he could.  When some National Guard troops could have put a stop to the looting and arson, he let it happen and even justified it as “peaceful protests.”

And during the COVID fraud he went along with the school and work shutdowns and the mask mandates and all the other nonsense that crippled this country and deprived kids of their education.  Yes, at every turn Tim’s been a rolling disaster of a nincompoop.  Whether it was putting tampon dispensers in the boy’s bathrooms in the high schools or resigning his military position right before the Iraq War, Tim has been at the forefront of unmanly behavior wherever he was.

And yet the interesting thing is that Kamala Harris selected him, not only because he was almost as stupid as she was but because they thought he would appeal to white male voters.  As a white man I find this incredibly insulting.  They must think we really are idiots.  What normal man thinks Tim Walz represents him?  Even a cursory glance at his history or his statements would clearly show him to be a radical progressive with a clear hatred of traditional values and white men.  He is the antithesis of J. D. Vance and this was openly apparent in the vice-presidential debate during which Vance made Walz look like a low-grade moron (which he is).

So just a little over a year after Tim Walz helped Donald Trump become president of the United States again, Tim will be helping Trump show the country just what dishonest and incompetent politicians the Democrats are.  California, Minnesota, New York and Illinois are all floundering in debt and dysfunction.  Tim will be a symbol of how the leaders of that party are personally responsible for the fraud and waste that went on during the Biden presidency.  Walz may be lucky that he’s leaving now.  Even his incompetency may soon be eclipsed by the spectacle of Mayor Mamdani turning the largest city in the nation into a third-world hellhole.  But even so Tim Walz has earned himself a spot on the Wall of Shame.  Adios Knucklehead.  We hardly knew ye.

05JAN2026 This ‘N’ That

Sunday January 4th is the end of my vacation.  So, I’ll be busy with a bunch of stuff; work, book launch and various chores and repairs.  So today I’m luxuriating in a trifecta of “Christmas Carol” viewings and so I’ll be steeped in “peace on Earth, goodwill toward men” right before I go back to despising the citizens of Dunwich on a face-to-face basis.  Honestly, the bureaucratic nightmare that is unfolding has me questioning my current status and I may decide to walk away from all this nonsense but we’ll have to see.  Ethically I’ll have to give notice and let them find someone as stupid as me to volunteer to suffer through all this.  And I’d have to train my replacement so relief would still be delayed by weeks.  But it is fun to contemplate escape.  Even this short venting has lifted my spirits.  Okay, enough for now.

The world stage is becoming increasingly troubled but for now I’ll restrict myself to Venezuela.  Now this crisis is actually the most manageable.  Essentially letting the US military eject the Cubans, guard the oil fields and end the drug shipments to the United States might all be within the abilities of the Trump administration.

Theoretically the oil infrastructure that was nationalized by Maduro’s predecessor could be returned to the western oil companies and very reasonable arrangements could provide enormous money for Venezuela’s people and also flood the American market with cheap oil and gas.  This would have the effect of lowering American transportation and energy costs and thereby lowering the cost of living here.  Now actually making this happen without major problems is a different question.  But I think Trump sees this as an opportunity to attack the cost-of-living problem head on.  If nothing else you have to admire his guts.  I’ll take a wait and see attitude (since I don’t have any choice anyway).

And finally, it’s only seventeen days until the publication on Amazon of my magnum opus, “The Sniper” I’m hoping everyone who has friends that might be interested in a right-wing, alternate history, techno-thriller will let them know about this great event.  In the run-up to the launch, I will become increasingly annoying with my constant shilling and repetitive praise of this product of my literary labor.  I apologize in advance to everyone but I must do my best to drum up business.  So, if hyperbole makes you break out in hives be warned this will be ground zero for such stuff.

Alright, that’s enough of that.  On a local weather note it has been snowing either a little or a lot every couple of days for the last couple of weeks.  Now I’m pretty used to this but lately it’s been getting mixed up with freezing rain and ice.  That’s a lot less fun.  So, I’ve been spending a lot more time on driveway surface preparation.  Because of this I haven’t had as much time for thinking up stuff for my posts.  So, I hope after this weekend things will be better for the next couple of weeks.  Thank you for your patience.

Be Careful, Donald

Well, Trump is definitely disrupting things.  The question is can he keep the whole machine from shaking itself apart.  Venezuela doesn’t bother me.  That’s not even a real country.  It’s a mafia neighborhood with a money-printing machine in the basement.

Iran on the other hand is a much bigger and more dangerous neighborhood.  Their economy is in tatters and the middle-class is so starved that they dared to face off in the streets against the thugs that Khamenei employs to silence all protestors, with a crow bar.  Trump threw in a threat against the mullahs if they start murdering the protestors in the street.  And that is his place as leader of the “free world” I guess.  But is it just an idle threat?  And will these protests really go anywhere?

The last time protests accomplished anything in Iran was 1979 when the Islamists overthrew the Shah of Iran and brought the Ayatollah Khomeini out of exile to begin the Islamic Republic.  And that kicked off the Islamic Revolution by holding Americans hostage for over a year.  Is it possible that enough Iranians are angry enough to risk torture and death to kick the mullahs out of power and turn Iran back into a modern country?  I guess it’s possible but why now?

I read that inflation in Iran is currently at 43%.  That is definitely getting close to some kind of breaking point.  But standing up to men with machine guns and torture cells takes a lot of guts.  I’m far from convinced that anything will come of the Iranian protests.  Now maybe it will soften up the regime into cutting a deal with the West.  Maybe they’ll agree to end their funding of terrorist groups and in that way begin to have economic sanctions lifted against their oil exports other commercial enterprises.

Now, all of this going on at the same time that Ukraine and Russia are battling to the death may not be a coincidence.  Both Venezuela and Iran are Russian allies and trading partners.  These situations may be an attempt to destabilize the Russian economy.  Sanctions against Russia have been skirted in part by using oil tankers that trade outside of the western countries and this is the same strategy that Iran and Venezuela have used.  Perhaps Trump is ratcheting up the pressure on all of these “shadow fleets” to destabilize the economies of all three of these countries.

And maybe it will work.  Iran is badly hurting and Russia is beginning to suffer from the combination of sanctions and war fatigue.  And Venezuela was a sitting duck for US military and covert attacks.  Maybe Trump will get a trifecta of victories.  He might even get his Nobel Peace Prize.

But I’ll have to say it’s an exceedingly dangerous game he’s playing.  There must be dozens of Iranian sleeper cells that snuck in during Biden’s open border policy.  What if the mullahs grow desperate and decide to spread some chaos in the land of the “Great Satan” before they lose control of their own country?  I get so tired of these places on the map that are nothing but misery for their own people and anyone that gets involved with them.  Donald, be careful.
