The Perfect Boycott

News that Anheuser Busch has replaced the woke harpy who was their VP of Marketing for Bud Light was a nice little surprise today but it doesn’t mean much.  In fact, it’s just window dressing.  The interesting thing will be to see if the beer drinking public perseveres in their desire to punish Anheuser Busch for the slap in the face, they gave them.

Now, Anheuser Busch is not a normal case.  It’s possible that the majority of people who drink Bud Light are non-leftists.  That means that a serious boycott of their product by the Right would have very serious consequences for the company.  Potentially it could get so bad that the CEO might be willing to give a real apology.  You know grovel and say exactly how infuriating and stupid it was for them to allow some elitist shrew to lecture her customers about the need to stop acting like men and act more like a mental case who dresses and acts as if he’s Audrey Hepburn.  Now that would be worth seeing and hearing.

As I said Anheuser Busch is a very unusual case.  Most companies have shown they can get away with insulting their conservative patrons.  Look at the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL.  Now the last of those is still resisting a little.  Some of the players refuse to wear the rainbow jersey.  And good for them.  But the rest of them have adopted the woke mantras without a fight.  That’s not to say it hasn’t cost them some money.  Before I stopped caring all together, I noticed that NFL stadiums were looking pretty empty after the BLM takeover and the famous kneeling campaign during the national anthem.  And I see that ESPN is losing a lot of money.  So much so that Disney is trying to spin it off.  I take these as partly the economic consequences of them disrespecting a goodly chunk of their fans.  But basically, these companies have embraced the woke agenda and it hasn’t been fatal.

And that’s what makes the Anheuser Busch situation so exciting.  Finally, we might be looking at a corporation that has no choice but to admit its mistake and change course.  After all this is not a good market right now.  Inflation is taking a huge chunk out of everyone’s paychecks and there are no woke customers who will be taking the place of the current Bud Light drinkers.  The Millennials and Zoomers drink craft beers.  Bud’s not their thing.  Losing out on the summer beer drinking season would be disastrous for the company.  So maybe this will be a very good “teachable moment.”

The only thing that hasn’t been thought about is what would qualify as an adequate reparation.  Without a doubt it requires an apology that includes the words, “We apologize for insulting our customers and we promise not to tell you how you should think and feel.”  In addition, they should do actual market research to find out what their present customer base enjoys in Bud Light advertising.  Who knows, maybe they actually enjoyed the stupid frog commercials from twenty years ago.  Or maybe they liked the beach commercials with the girls in skimpy bathing suits.  But whatever it is they should think about finding out what people like before telling them what they should like.

But what I really hope is that the boycott is permanent.  Some other beer company makes a play for the Bud Light customers using traditional American advertising themes like summer fun and actual women and men.  Anheuser Bush deserves to be made an example and allowed to crash and burn as a testament to what stupid marketing can cause.

So, let’s see what happens.  If the boycott fails it’ll be one more shovel of dirt in our grave.  One more sign that the new America is a hopeless place to live.  But let’s wait.  It’s worth finding out.  Maybe there’s a little bit of hope left.

Bud Light Replaces the Marketing Witch

Alissa Heinerscheid has taken a “leave of absence” and has been replaced as VP of Marketing for Bud Light.  I hope the Bud Light drinkers stick by their boycott.  A really painful loss of revenue is just the right lesson that these corporate geniuses need to experience.

And not because we hope they’ll learn their lesson.  It should be for two reasons.  One is an object lesson for the rest of the masters of the universe out there to see what happens when you stab your customers in the back.

And secondly just for pure revenge on these jerks.  Just plain spite.  I love spite.

What’s Worse, Dark Energy or Non-Metric Gravity?

Regular readers are aware of my disdain for Dark Energy and Dark Matter.  These are hypothetical entities that apparently can’t be detected but which allow astrophysicists to pretend they understand why physical measurements of the universe don’t correlate with the estimates they make about things like the mass of the galaxies and the expansion of the universe.

Well I’m happy to report they’ve come up with another theory that at least allows them to get rid of dark energy.  It’s called non-metric gravity.  Of course I’m glad they’re getting rid of dark energy.  Getting rid of something that doesn’t exist is a helpful idea.  But I can’t say that the exercise they’ve gone through to “measure” the parameters in their new model is all that inspiring.  They take the gravitational constant and make it a function of the form:

F(Q) = α + βQn

And all three parameters are determined by curve fitting, using the available data from astrophysical observations like the red shift and microwave radiation densities.  And unsurprisingly they are able to make the hypothesis fit the data.

Now does this prove anything?  Certainly not.  But at least it doesn’t require inventing ubiquitous non-existent particles that are indetectable and inexplicable.  And to my way of looking at things it’s the beginning of an approach that may start to unravel the baffling problems that astrophysicists are confronted with when they look at the universe on the grand scale.

Now if only they can man up and admit there’s no such thing as dark matter they might start to gain my respect back again.  Sir Isaac forgive them.  They’re not very bright.

22APR2023 – Quote of the Day

In dispensing the criminal justice of the country, we have sometimes an arduous task to perform. It is not a pleasant thing, most certainly, to condemn any one of our fellow creatures to punishment; but those who are entrusted with the administration of the criminal justice of a country, must summon up their fortitude, and render justice to the public, as well as justice tempered with mercy to the individual.

Another Country Music Face Off – I’m So Lonely I Could Cry

I need something trivial and (I think) fun to distract me while the formerly great Renaissance Civilization slides back into the primordial slime.  I think I’ll try to come up with stuff like this to keep me from thinking of all the horror that surrounds us.  At least stop thinking about it from time to time and have some fun.

So here it is:

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

I’m Not from Missouri But, My New Motto is “Show Me”

I get e-mails, letters and postcards asking for donations, memberships and other forms of support.  Some of these are from annoying corporations like AARP and various energy companies that claim they can make my life better by offering me fabulous benefits and savings.  And I can’t blame these people for sending this crap to me.  Caveat emptor and all that.  Consumers in this country just ignore all that jazz.  Honestly, I need an industrial grade shredder for all this stuff.

But then there are the political candidates from all over the country who are running for office or already are in office but want me to help them “make a difference.”  Well, they’re barking up the wrong tree.  Appeals to my desire for change are too late.  They all had their chance.  They’ve had decades to fix these things.  For fifty years I’ve watched them struggle and stumble and been treated as a punching bag by the Left.  Well, that’s enough.  If they’re too stupid or too lazy to beat out the bad guys then they don’t deserve any money or help from me.

So now the currency of the hour is success.  Results; checks in the win column; scalps on the wall.  That’s the coin of the realm.  So, Ron DeSantis is a winner.  Donald Trump is a winner.  The Supreme Court is a winner.  Tucker Carlson is a winner.  Elon Musk is a winner, sort of.  Each of them has done something that pushed back against the Left and produced results.  Measurable, identifiable and applaudable results.

And you know who else has a win?  All those beer drinkers who are boycotting Anheuser Busch.  That’s a win.  Donald Trump Jr. saying don’t boycott Anheuser Busch because they’re our friends?  Well, that’s a losing message.  Sure maybe it’s too late to change the Left’s control over corporate America.  But it certainly can’t hurt to punish the most egregious traitors.  It’s like primarying Liz Cheney.  It’s just a gesture but it’s a very satisfying gesture and it feels good to hit back at these people.  Make them pay for humiliating us and profiting from their betrayal of us at every single turn.

Results, results, results.  If you want our money, if you want our support, if you want our trust, show us results.  Accomplish something!

And they’ve got the easiest victory laid out in front of them.  Trans-gendering children is an abomination that is just crying out for politicians to get out in front of the movement to ban it.  DeSantis to his credit is already doing something about it.  The schools that groom kids into believing in these things are the obvious targets to attack.  And the pharmaceutical companies and the medical centers that enable these procedures and the AMA that certifies these things safe and effective all should be attacked and punished legally for the harm they are doing.

But until something is actually done it’s just a wasted opportunity.  It proves that no one out there really wants to do anything to help us.  They just want our money because they say they will make something happen if we send it.

Well, no.  Show me that you can do more than parrot some words.  Show me that you’re smart and brave.  Show me the win!  Until then, save the postage.  I’m not buying it.
