Off With Their Heads!

The day started at 3am to accommodate an airport drop off.  Of course, I didn’t trust the alarm clock so I woke up at 1am and 2 am just to be sure.  Which explains this stream of semi-consciousness writing style you’re reading here.  The various schools are not in session this week so Camera Girl is working triple duty with grandkids all week (and double duty next week just for good measure).  So, we’re both zonked today.  Tomorrow will be better.

The summer must be over because I notice a definite uptick in site traffic.  It’s funny how that works.  I always enjoy seeing folks return.  It’s almost a proprietary interest, as if they’ve been slacking off, like some kind of digital prodigal sons.  I feel like I should go to www.fattedcalf.com and put in an e-order (great googly moogly, it’s a real website!).

Well, it’s still raining today, which is starting to get a bit annoying.  Sure, sure.  Drought bad, water good.  But that’s enough.  No one likes a show off.

I find I’m fed up looking at both sides of the Red Wave / Red Bust articles.  I really don’t care.  Either we trounce these dirtbags or we don’t.  Running around in circles with your hair on fire over it just makes you look stupid.  Especially since the pundits are trying to read the usual tea leaves that are about as authoritative as my late great aunt’s theories on how the Apollo moon missions were ruining her vegetable garden.

All I want to read about is what anyone who claims to be a leader on the right is doing to make our lives better.  That stunt that Governor Abbott is pulling by bussing illegal aliens to NYC and DC; that’s good stuff.  I want to hear more stuff like that.  DeSantis prosecuting election fraud perps; good stuff, keep it coming.  That’s all stuff that encourages the man on the street.  It’s tonic.  It makes us feel better.

And I loved the final broadcast of Brian Stelter.  His heroic stand against objective journalism was as pathetic, myopic and disingenuous as anything that has ever shown up on that Clown Car of a network CNN.  And now I’m hungry for more.  Don Lemon, Jim Acosta.  Hey how about Anderson Cooper?  It’s such a target rich environment.  Come on, Warner Bros. Discovery, give your audience what they want, blood.  Blue-green bug blood.  Bring out the guillotine and lop off a network anchor’s head every night.  Fish it out of the basket, show it to the crowd and then toss it to the soccer hooligans to kick around the street for the rest of the night.  I guarantee ratings will go through the roof.

And the same goes for MSNBC and even Fox.  They’ve all got plenty of phonies and sycophants.  Blithering idiots like Joe Scarborough, Juan Williams and Joy Reid are ripe for the razor.  And even if they are just metaphorical beheadings and all we get to see is these bozos making the walk of shame out of the corporate headquarters with the cardboard box full of coffee mugs and cheap Lucite awards it will still bring joy and plenty of clicks and streaming dollars to these former news networks.  No one is more hated than these pampered, brainless and thoroughly useless haircuts.

You know I feel better already.  There’s nothing like a good dose of schadenfreude to revive a sleep deprived conservative.  So, thank you CNN and thank you Brian Stelter for brightening up my day.  Keep up the good work.

CNN Fires Brian Stelter and Jeffrey Toobin

Huh.  Maybe CNN really does want to be considered an actual news network.  Well anyway, whatever else CNN does they’ve just made tv less stupid and less creepy by a wide margin.  Brian Stelter wasn’t the stupidest person at CNN because Don Lemon is still there.  And Toobin was the infamous zoom masturbator.  How could anyone top that for skin crawling repulsiveness.

So is it possible that the new owners of CNN have thought about what an actual news organization would consist of and are now trying to put one together?  It’s a tantalizing idea.  It’s been so long since a network even pretended to play it right down the middle that it would feel almost unnatural.  But it’s a hell of an idea.

Of course, I’ll wait to see if they get rid of the rest of the woke crew there.  But maybe it’s true.  Meanwhile the thought of Stelter and Toobin on the unemployment line is a rare pleasure.  And it remains to be seen if anyone would actually employ either one of them again in any capacity.  Each one is loathsome in several ways.  Possibly we’re at the beginning of a cycle where no one needs people like them for anything.  It’s a pleasant thought.

Could A Reckoning Be Coming for the Fake News?

Sometimes it’s fun to imagine that the bad guys can lose.  I was reading an article called “Too Few People Want What Joe Scarborough Is Selling.”  The premise of the story is that despite all of the support that the left-wing institutions provide for the mainstream media the demand for their product is evaporating.

Here is the salient quote to back this assertion up:

This might explain an odd exchange on Morning Joe last week, in which Dan Pfeiffer, former senior advisor to Barack Obama, declared that “[i]f you go to Facebook on a daily basis, the posts with the most engagement are from Ben Shapiro, Dan Bongino, and Candace Owens. It is right-wing media content. It dwarfs progressive content. It dwarfs mainstream media content — which is actually, should be the part that should scare us the most, that Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire has more followers and engagement — many times more — than the New York Times or CNN. That is a problem for democracy.”

So apparently, they admit that even with suspensions, shadow banning and demonetizing of conservative ideas they can’t get anyone interested in progressive writers.  And this doesn’t sound wrong.  It’s probably true.

But is it enough that the people prefer our ideas?  Can we win the culture wars if all the institutions close ranks against us?  I think the answer is in the long run, we’ll win.  That’s in the same way that eventually the Soviet Union couldn’t keep their lies going forever.  Eventually reality seeps in.  I guess there’s some comfort in that.  But the Soviet Union lasted seventy years.  I haven’t got seventy years.

The other exhibit the author provides is the change of strategy at CNN.  The new owners are on record as saying they want to turn the company into a straight news outlet.  Now you can imagine that Brian Stelter and Don Lemon would be poorly qualified to be retrofitted as shoe leather reporters.  Firing them wouldn’t require management to be committed to down the center objective journalism.  It would just show that they are tired of flushing money down the drain.  But if the bottom line is finally forcing the media to abandon their attacks on half of the people of this country, then I’ll count that as a very promising development.

But is it true?  And is it more than a one off?  I haven’t heard that MSNBC and ABC, CBS and NBC are turning over new leaves too.  Despite the Washington Post finally firing that demented harpy that kept calling all of her peers privileged white folk I doubt that the Post or the Times is reconsidering their editorial policy as it pertains to Left/Right bias.

Well, I can’t say that I’m a believer.  But I thought the couple of cracks in the wall provide a glimmer of hope that someday the truth shall set us free.  Read the article and see what you think and leave it in the comments.

Brian Stelter About to be Jettisoned by CNN

Here’s a funny headline “Stelter ‘down to weeks if not days’ at CNN, causing internal turmoil at network, source claims.”  Stelter is an odious toad.  Seeing him unemployed is just another wonderful bonus from Dementia Joe’s destruction of the American economy.  Even mega-corporations can’t afford to pay someone this useless.  and it appears he’s also a boil on their flesh, “They continue: “Management is confident Stelter is the one sharing the internal pushback to fellow media reporters while simultaneously stirring discontent within the ranks“”  He’s agitating against his new bosses.

Now if they could find a way to unload Lemon they might get to a zero baseline from which to start a new operation.

Funniest Headline of Week – Chris Cuomo Accuses CNN of Smearing His Journalistic Integrity

How is it possible for CNN to smear Chris “Fredo” Cuomo’s journalistic integrity?  Think of the list of absurdities.  Cuomo is not a journalist.  Neither Cuomo nor CNN have any kind of integrity.  CNN never hired Fredo to commit journalism on their network.  It could never happen on that cable channel except by accident and in passing.

Fredo wants $125 million dollars from CNN for this “smear.”  I think the judge should just broker a deal where CNN gives custody of Don Lemon to Fredo and calls it a wash.

We live in the age of miracles and wonder.  And the wonder is how we can keep going with people this stupid in charge.

A Nice Review of How CNN Went from a News Outlet to a Mental Hospital

Younger readers may not remember when CNN was a news outlet that covered news like wars and disasters and political events worldwide.  Sure, it was probably always biased toward the Left but that is the status quo among all journalists.

But this article traces the downfall to Jeff Zucker and his shift from covering the news to creating tabloid infotainment.  A fairly concise explanation.  I like how it ends:

“Moving forward, what’s next for CNN when the company falls under the Discovery Channel umbrella later this year? Let’s hear from its soon-to-be largest shareholder, John Malone of Liberty Media.

“I would like to see CNN evolve back to the kind of journalism that it started with, and actually have journalists, which would be unique and refreshing,” Malone said in an interview that recently aired on CNBC.

The collapse of CNN is now complete: Nine-out-of-ten viewers, gone. Its top-rated anchor, Chris Cuomo, gone. Its network president, gone. Its integrity in shambles.

Oh, and new management coming in that is signaling big-time changes … changes that may bring CNN back to the proud network it once was before Jeff Zucker destroyed it.””

Don Lemon are you next?

Wanted: Local Political Contributors

As the Primary and General Off-Year Elections creep up on us I’m interested in getting posts from readers about their local political scene.  Places like Texas, Colorado, Florida, Ohio, South Carolina, North Carolina, Illinois, Minnesota are represented by readers here.  Even Canada and Australia have local political stories that some of our readers might want to provide.  So if you are interested in sharing your perspective on your local politics, get in touch.  Either leave a comment or send an e-mail to orionscoldfire at charter dot net.  Anonymity is, of course, perfectly fine and if you prefer to discuss local cultural issues instead of or in addition to politics that also is encouraged.  I’ll add this want-ad to the footer of the posts for a while to see if I can entice any readers to write.

Fredo Sleeps with the Fish

Fredo went against the Family.  No not the Cuomo Crime Family.  He went against the #MeToo family.  So, they took him out on the lake and now he sleeps with the fish.  Don Lemon will now be the sole contestant for the title “Stupidest Human on Television.”  Without Fredo CNN will lose a whole demographic of viewers.  The short attention span viewer will permanently tune CNN out.  They’ll drift away to reality tv or possibly watch shiny spinning objects.  They’ve lost their man.

Seriously, as much as I despise the people who fired him, I’m delighted to hear that the last of the Cuomos are now unemployed.  From Mario to Fredo they have infested New York politics and embarrassed Italian Americans for over fifty years.  To never have to see Fredo’s “deer in the headlights” expression again on the television is a blessing.

Of course, I haven’t considered whether Fredo might find something outside of news.  Maybe something in the entertainment industry.  I know it’s probably beyond him but maybe he could become a rodeo clown.  It’s honest work and his face would be an asset.  He wouldn’t need makeup and I’m sure the bulls and bucking broncs will be fascinated by his dim-witted stare.  Or possibly he could become a carny.  Not one of the barkers.  That’s too skilled.  Maybe he could throw sawdust on the beer barf.  That’s not so hard.  That’s it!  His next gig will be beer barf sawdust guy.  And if he studies hard and applies himself, one day, he could become the cotton candy guy.  Only in America.

Really my only worry is the possibility of a next generation.  Could Andrew and Chris have progeny that might one day show up in the public space?  I tend to think this is unlikely.  Based on the drop off in intelligence between Mario and his sons I assume the next generation will fall right out of the human spectrum and end up with IQ’s in the single digits.  That would put them in a class with planaria and other flatworms.  Even CNN couldn’t employ them.

So, I guess this is it.  Farewell Fredo.  We hardly knew ye.  Or we hardly wanted to know ye.  Or something.

Good riddance.

Silly Season 2021 – Toobin Strikes Back!

Just when you thought it was safe to watch CNN again, he returns.

Jeffreywhy is everybody looking at me like that?Toobin has returned to provide legal insight to the viewers at CNN.  But the female viewers will always be a little nervous from now on.  And in any remote interview everyone will be thinking, “Is he wearing pants and where are his hands?”  And when he’s in studio will we ever see a woman (or anyone) shaking his hand ever again?

We live in the age of miracles and wonder and seeing Jeffrey “tube lubin” Toobin return from the wilderness proves that there is nothing so awful and pathetic that a true progressive won’t come back from it saying “What?  What?”  Even Bill Clinton must take off his hat or pants to Toobin.

I agree with the statement of one of the commenters on this bizarre resurrection, “This man must’ve had some dirt on somebody with power ’cause this is just beyond.”

But my favorite comment was ” At least @CNN is honest now about having no journalistic standards whatsoever. Such honesty must be freeing!”

Surely the LGBTQ movement must have a letter for Toobin.  Maybe W for wanker.  Obviously the normal people don’t want him but during sodomy pride month there must be a special place for someone like Jeffrey who may have pride but definitively has no shame.

Profiles in Courage from the Instagram Era – Chris Cuomo – The Ernie Pyle of World War Z

Someday historians will look back and identify the exact moment when American manhood hit its lowest point and it will be identified by the time stamp on the video of Chris Cuomo whining about having the flu.  Don’t get me wrong having pneumonia and being unable to breath is my idea of Hell on Earth.  The elderly and the frail victims of COVID-19 are struggling with every breathe they take to stave off a horrible death.

But by his own description Fredo is describing fever and muscle aches.  Those are exactly flu symptoms.  He doesn’t have pneumonia.  He wasn’t in respiratory distress.  He wasn’t coughing up blood.  He wasn’t suffering from cardiac arrhythmia.  He has the flu.  And even as he painted his word picture of his harrowing ordeal he managed to take as many pot shots at President Trump as he could.  Cuomo is a pathetic man who in a better world would be consigned to cleaning trash off the sides of less important roads.  Listening to him I wonder if we’ll ever see a time when the major media outlets will be ashamed to let someone as dishonest, as petty, as annoying as Chris Cuomo represent their brand to the American public.

I should link up to the video but frankly I wouldn’t want to help his ratings.  Shame on him.  Shame on CNN.  And shame on all of us for allowing our country to deteriorate to the point where Chris Cuomo isn’t ashamed to show his face in public.

But I wonder what Chris will do in a couple of days when he has no symptoms left to tout?  He will be quarantined for a couple of weeks at least so he has to come up with a new act.  Perhaps he can chronicle his battle against toe nail fungus or a really bad case of ear wax. So brave, so brave.

PJ Media Links to a CNN Report That Discovered That Minnesota is in Play

If CNN admits to being worried about President Trump flipping Minnesota in 2020 then that strikes me as meaning it’s already a fait accompli.

https://pjmedia.com/trending/cnn-discovers-minnesota-is-turning-to-trump/

In 2016 Donald Trump flipped Wisconsin and missed Minnesota by about 40,000 votes.  I’m guessing Minnesota hands us 10 electoral votes next year.  Good news indeed.
