My Post Kavanaugh High Has Me Low on Outrage

I just don’t feel the anger this week.  Sure there are all kinds of outrages to get outraged about but I’m just feeling outraged out.  I propose to talk about positive things.  So extending the previous post about deplatforming, I’d like to consider how to select what alternative platforms the Right should develop for itself.  Where to start?  Two selection principles come to mind.

1)            Criticality

2)            Likelihood of Success

Both of these criteria have their merits.  In fact I think that each is the best criterion for a different participant audience.  The critical platforms, like on-line financing or large corporate entities like a large social media network or retail commercial entity, are projects that require the cooperation of large groups for funding and support.  In this way resources and time is available to nurture a difficult project that is sorely needed but not easy to achieve.  So these are projects that should be supported by collective action.   On the other hand, personal goals should be the ones that have a high likelihood of succeeding.  And in addition to a high likelihood of success they should also be reasonably profitable in whatever connotation that can have.  So for instance a business venture that will earn a good income or a hobby that will provide a goodly amount of satisfaction those would qualify as profitable endeavors.  In this way it fits the resources and enthusiasm of the small time operator.  It will be seen as a positive endeavor and not a drain on the individual.

And this is how I address my place in the greater scheme of things.  If someone who has more resources and/or energy is endeavoring to build some ambitious platform or entity that will benefit the larger community, I support it with my small resources and by publicizing it.  For my own projects they are more modest.  I will build a website and try to provide an environment where like-minded individuals can communicate and socialize without the endless trolling and official censure of the Facebooks and Twitters.

I put up the link for a Directory Right Wing Businesses to encourage other folks to pass along info on people on our side trying to make a go of it.  So far that has been fairly inactive but time will tell if the readers get more enthusiastic as things move forward.

Of course, at some point much more will have to be done.  I think it is overly optimistic to think the federal government will be successful in forcing the social media companies to play fair.  I think it will be the profit motive that draws some fairly larger groups forward to provide the equivalent of Stripe, PayPal and the crowdfunding companies for those of us on the Right who are being threatened with deplatforming.  Whether that will happen in months or years depends on how the Left presses forward with their purge.  If they go too far it will definitely produce a market for alternatives.

So that’s my current thought on making our own stuff.  Agree, disagree, any comments?

The Anti-Anti-White Position

Back on May 28th John Derbyshire wrote an article called “Electoral Gold for the Stupid Party—the Anti-Anti-White Vote.”  The gist of the article is that the white population of the United States may finally have reached the point where being demonized by the Left will force them to vote the self interest of their racial identity rather than political affiliation.  And the way it was couched was that even people who normally considered American identity as a non-racial concept would recognize that they were now being attacked for no other reason than because they were white.  And that rather than allow themselves to be victimized any further they would vote their own interest.

This seems to me to be a very useful way to look at the situation.  It recognizes the need for a defensive action to counter a hostile race-based ideology.  And it allows people to determine who is part of the problem and who is not.

The first category are the egregious offenders.  These are the people teaching our children about “white privilege” and patriarchy and anyone who uses the term cis-gender in anything other than an ironical way.  These people are trying to destroy this country by any and all means possible.  Examples of this group would be Antifa and that psychotic assistant professor, Melissa Click at the University of Missouri who assaulted the journalist and called for “some muscle” as she tried to remove journalists from a campus protest.

The second group is anyone who thinks these people make sense or even think they’re harmless.  These people are helping or at least tolerating this dysfunction.  This is a very large group and includes all of the people on the Left and also people on the right who can’t or won’t see what’s happening.  This would include people like Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush or any of the NeverTrumpers.  These people are just as big a problem as the first group.

The third group is anyone who doesn’t fall into either one of these first two categories.  By the logic of the Alt-Right it will soon include the majority of white Americans and no one else.  That assumes that every other racial group will see disenfranchising white people as the best strategy to advance their own interests.  But I hold out the hope that by strenuously resisting the Anti-White propaganda and labelling it as discrimination we can convince large numbers of other groups to avoid accepting these positions and eventually delegitimize them all together.

And the best way to resist this Anti-White agenda is to support Donald Trump.  By his executive actions and by his judicial appointments he is bending the federal government away from the support that the Obama administration and its judicial appointments were giving to this agenda.  But in addition, we must make sure that every other elected official we vote for is on our side.  Whether it’s the Governor, Mayor, Town Councilman or PTA Representative.  And we need to look at the companies we patronize.  We should always let a company know if it is working against our interests.  Complaining and even boycotting an offensive corporation is a good way to get our message out there.

One thing I’ve recently begun is to compile a list of Right-leaning (or at least non-Left leaning) businesses.  I call it my “Directory of Right Wing Businesses.”  Currently it’s a rudimentary effort in only a few categories but my intent is to solicit information from site visitors and other sources to make it comprehensive.  In this way I would like to provide a resource for people who prefer to support people who believe in the same things they do.  This will also make it less likely that they will be de-platformed by a website hosting service or a monetizing company if that company objects to their ideology.  If you have any suggestions please drop by and list these companies for others to benefit from.

And finally I like the framing of the movement as a resistance to a discriminatory practice.  I think it links it back to the larger issue of Anti-White practices now codefied into the US Government.  I am referring to all the racial and sexual entitlement programs that actively discriminate against white people in general and straight white men in very particular.  These need to be recognized as unjust and addressed along with these other egregious ideas.

Article on Captain Capitalism – Breaking Into the Tech Industry – A Beginners Guide

I categorize this as Directory of Right-Wing Business stuff.  Captain Capitalism is providing this for folks on our side who want to get into business without necessarily going the academic route and wasting time and dealing with the SJW establishment.  Running my own website, I am interested in this info myself.

https://captaincapitalism.blogspot.com/2018/05/breaking-into-tech-industry-beginners.html

I’ve just watched the first video.  The basics are clearly laid out.  Might be interesting to someone considering a programming career.

Vox Day’s Alt-Hero Gambit

Vox Day is an intriguing figure.  He is literally putting his money where his mouth is.  His right-wing entrepreneurial activities include (among other things) commercial endeavors in book publishing, video games and now comic books.  In just a few years he has impacted the cloistered and SJW infested world of the Hugo awards and spread the gospel of confronting social justice thugs with his books on SJWs.

His latest venture is the comic book kickstarter that garnered a quarter of a million dollars and has allowed him to hire some of the best talent from the pre-SJW converged past of DC Comics. (Chuck Dixon, the creator of Bane and Frank Fosco, a talented artist who has worked for DC and Marvel).  The effort will involve several separate imprints.  One imprint is called Alt-Hero and is explicitly aimed at combatting the politically correct conventions of modern SJW converged Marvel Comics with in-your-face right-wing heroes.  In addition, there is an imprint called Avalon which will be an entirely original work of Chuck Dixon chronicling the super heroes in his imagined city Avalon.  Dixon has said that Vox has given him free rein to create the Avalon universe according to his own creative vision.  And that is why I am very excited about this venture.

As I have stated previously, I’m in no way, shape or form a comic book enthusiast.  But I recognize how employing talented creators to work without the disabling effects of politically motivated orthodoxies has the potential of attracting the customers who have walked away from comics because of these very problems.  That is exactly what needs to be tried.  If it succeeds even on a limited basis it can act as a template for other areas of the culture that are currently strangulating under leftist control.  Vox’s Castalia House publishing business produces fiction and non-fiction that is unaffected by politically correct ideology.  I’ve enjoyed a number of these books.  And even though I don’t follow comics I did enjoy the Bane character in the third Batman movie (Dark Knight Rising).  He was wonderfully evil and an amazing agent of chaos.  I have to assume that Mr. Dixon has some amusing things to share in this Avalon story line so I intend to try it out when it becomes available.

My larger point is that Vox is demonstrating what needs to be done.  Look at the niches the converged industries provide for a right-wing alternative and give it a try.  The internet is the great leveler of all things entrepreneurial.  If you can imagine a thing that has a market you can market it there.  I’ll add Alt-Hero and Avalon to my list of Right-Wing Businesses.

Vox is an enormously polarizing figure.  But he is a trailblazer for anyone on the right who wants to be part of the solution to the vacuum that is all that’s left of right-wing cultural institutions.  Don’t like left wing news, then blog.  Don’t like the left-wing NYT Best Seller’s List, then patronize right wing publishers and authors.  Don’t want your kids to have to read about or go see a movie about gay Spiderman or transsexual Thor, then maybe buy a few of Vox’s comics for them instead.  To be consistent, I guess I’ll have to put my money where my mouth is.  Comic books?  Who woulda thunk it?

The Way to Win the War

Back in September of 2016 I read an essay that continues to provide me with insight into the state of present day America.  That was Angelo M. Codevilla’s, “After the Republic.”  His thesis was that regardless of whether Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump won the presidency, thinking of restoring the United States to the same kind of governance that existed before the 20th century crises was futile.  As sad as this conclusion makes me, I agree with it.  Even if the appearance of our government remains the same, what we are now dealing with is not one where the loyal opposition negotiates with their partners across the aisle to give the American people the moderate government that made American life feel temperate and fraternal.  The Democrats (and to a lesser extent, Republicans) are a wholly owned subsidiary of the Cultural Marxist Combine and to think of them any other way is delusional and suicidal.  With the advent of the #metoo tactic even their own pawns and bishops are now sacrificed to capture the opposing King.  We have reached the level of conflict where it is hard to imagine any action so heinous or bizarre that the Democrats would not use it if it provided sufficient progress in their war of attrition.

In such an environment of total war the priority is to destroy your enemy.  During war you set aside the normal priorities of growth and equilibrium and marshal all your resources and strength to dealing a fatal blow to your enemy.  Because if you don’t, he will.

So, the strategy is clear.  But the details of the landscape make tactics complicated.  The enemy knows full well what is going on.  But the American public is still only partly aware that a war is in progress.  Fully half of our nominal allies are sleep walking through this battlefield under the impression that we are at peace.  Of course, they realize that these are troubled times but they think we are still one nation under God with liberty and justice for all.  They must be awakened.  In the meantime, they are part of the problem.  They can inflict damage to our side through ignorance and gullibility.  This complicates things.  Subterfuge and misdirection becomes part of the tactical palette.  An extremely Machiavellian environment is inevitable.  So be it.

We have reached a very sad state of affairs.  We must adopt the tactics of the enemy in order to defeat him.  Honesty and chivalry won’t work.  Power politics and deals with the devil are the order of the day.  Look for a leader who can hold his own against the lies of the press and is undaunted by their attacks.  Forget flowery promises of future victories.  Measure actual results.  Be undaunted by minor flaws in your allies.  If you need reason to work with them just look at your enemies and the goals they embrace.  That should convince you of which side you should be on.  The politics of personal destruction will become the order of the day.  It is much easier to destroy the man than the idea.  Polarization will increase.  Friendships will be destroyed across the divide.  Sides will be chosen inside families.  Many men will lose wives and girlfriends as women will be the last to awaken to reality.  Jobs will be lost as cultural-Marxism converged companies purge the unbelievers.   It will get much worse before it gets better.  So be it.

How do you enjoy life in such an environment?  You build new friendships and associations.  Reach out to kindred spirits.  Support them.  Network with them.  We are not few.  We are many.  We just need to be connected.  Form some recreational or cultural groups with like minded individuals.  You can even pick activities that self-identify the participants.  For instance, how many left leaning hand gun target shooters do you think there are?  Or Bible study groups?  I’ll leave it as an exercise to the reader to come up with a few more.  And even relatively neutral activities are enhanced when shared with people who won’t throw a moral hand grenade at you from time to time.  For instance, I have a co-worker who shares an interest in photography with me.  Our relations are friendly.  When the Las Vegas shooting occurred, he spent a measure of my time that I’ll never get back trying to get me to say that gun control laws were the answer to this problem.  It was a futile conversation that left a bad feeling between us.  Wouldn’t I rather spend time with someone who wants to talk about something we agree on, like photography?  Yes.

And it doesn’t matter how unzealous you are for the cause.  You don’t have to be a hero.  You can tend to your own garden and just throw support of whatever kind to our side.  Even if it’s just friendship.  Just don’t be part of the problem.  Don’t attack to the right.  Are there people on the right who are outside of your comfort zone?  Fine.  Just don’t engage with them.  But don’t make it your mission to attack them.  If you need someone to attack look to the left.  It’s a target rich zone.  Every variety of degenerate and sociopath is represented on the left.  If you need something to strike go there.  My current project is to identify right-leaning businesses and organizations and maintain a list.  That way if I have a choice between Amazon or someone who wants to fend off a future solely inhabited by blue-haired cat ladies and footsy pajama wearing latte boys I can consciously make that choice.  If you know of any businesses or groups like that then stop by and add them to the list.  Be part of the solution.

Update on Who We Are – And a Listing of Right Wing Businesses

Well whatever labels my readers self-identify as I’d say the majority of them could be described as Contrarians because most won’t be persuaded to take the poll.  But that’s okay.  Nothing wrong with having an independent streak.

Anyway, so far, the small sample we have is dominated by libertarians of various stripes.  Next are the conservatives.  There’s one traditionalist (like myself) and even a Bernie Bro!

Conservative 3
Traditionalist 1
Libertarian 4
Ayn Randian 1
Ron Paul Follower 1
Bernie Bro 1

Of course, eleven is a pretty small sample size, so I won’t try to get too scientific about it, but I am encouraged that it’s not an echo chamber.  We have a pretty fair range of beliefs.  And I believe an even wider range is out there but not announcing themselves due to the fringe effect.  Actually I just made that name up now.  I’m sure social scientists have a technical term for this but I’m just a simple engineer so I don’t know it.  Anyway, what I mean is that as you get farther and farther from the center (on both sides) people become much more careful about announcing their ideologies out of a sense of caution.

Well, I’m enjoying seeing who’s out there so I’ll keep the poll going (even though the software I’m using is pretty ugly looking).

One of my readers thought it was a good idea to keep a list of conservative companies that provide various products and services that currently seem dominated by left wing companies or companies that are easily coerced by SJWs to sabotage right wing folk.  I agree with him.  I’ve set up a forum called “Directory of Right Wing Businesses” here’s the link https://orionscoldfire.com/index.php/forums/forum/directory-of-right-wing-businesses/

I started it off with Black Rifle Coffee Company.  Everyone is welcome to add a recommendation.  I’ll maintain the list and eventually format it for convenience.  And feedback on companies will be an important component.

Well anyway, I’ve been enjoying the feedback in the comments so thanks for that.  And for you photographers out there remember the photo forum is for you guys to link your stuff and talk gear.  Well, this is just a quick note.  Thanksgiving and Christmas are upon us and I hope to have more time around the holidays (well, when I’m not eating turkey) to blog and there seem to be all kinds of crazy things going on to keep our attention, but I want to make sure there are fun things to talk about too.  For any of you out there who are country music fans, I have a review coming up very soon on a new singer/songwriter who is pretty great in my opinion.  And since this is all nothing but my opinion I’ll try to link to some YouTube stuff of his that is pretty entertaining.  So, I’ll wrap this up.  Stay tuned to OCF and I’ll try to keep you folks entertained or at least occupied with my ravings.

Since my readers don’t always stop by every day I figured I’d paste this poll on each post for a while to see what folks call themselves.  This is the post the poll came from  Who Are We?

… And that got me thinking. Who are the people who read my blog?  I thought it might be fun to see what the cross-section looked like.  If you feel like saying what you believe in, feel free to leave a comment and/or pick a label from the poll below.  I think it might be interesting.
