Culture is Upstream of Politics – What Does that Mean to Me
This was Andrew Breitbart’s explanation for why we needed to assert our place in social media and entertainment and other arenas of our culture. And he was right. That explains why Google, Facebook and Twitter are desperate to remove the Right from the public square. They can’t win in the marketplace of ideas and they certainly can’t win in the meme wars. So banished we must be.
And that is why we need our own platforms. So far, we’re laughably outgunned everywhere we look. Something like Facebook has a membership in the billions. So even looking at something like Gab which has had a huge influx of displaced non-leftists is dwarfed by a factor of almost a thousand to one. And there is absolutely no comparison to the monetary discrepancy. We’re microscopic.
But even a site like this, which is invisible to Google, is important. That’s because it gives us a place to go where we can say what we believe without being shut down or told we’re evil. And we can come here to hear and tell news. I’ve found some very interesting links from readers who shared them in the comments.
And even more important it gives us a sense of being part of something extended in space. There are people from all fifty states and other countries who come here. Some come for movie and book reviews. Some come for photography articles. But most come to read something by people on our side of the aisle. Some disagree with what I have to say. Some have already abandoned the mainstream parties and are waiting for some catastrophe to reset the existing order and provide an opportunity for regime change. Much of what they say about society is deadly accurate. I do differ with them on the conclusions they draw about what is and isn’t possible in the way of reform. And I don’t deny that I could be wrong and they could be right. But currently I haven’t given up on the future of the United States. I think there may be scenarios where the red and blue states agree to disagree and allow a looser federalism on these freedoms that we want. This would be similar to how some states have ignored the federal illegal status of cannabis.
I find the range of opinions on the Right healthy. None of us really know how any of this is going to end up. But talking to other people provides me with feedback. For the most part we don’t have very heated arguments like some of the ones I’ve seen elsewhere but screaming matches aren’t really necessary. Twenty or thirty words is sometimes more than enough to allow someone to make a point.
One thing I would be interested in is hearing more from the next generations. Tyler from the Portly Politico comes here often and it’s obvious that he’s not of my generation. But I wish I had a dozen more of the kids here. If you know of any younger folks on the Right, please send them a link. I think they are the most important people for us to reach. I think exposing them to the things that are now essentially excluded from the mainstream social media sites is vitally important. And I think it’s an easy sell. The present-day culture is thin. From a male perspective it’s weak and boring. Comparing the model of traditional family life to the deracinated Gaia worship currently passing for a lifestyle should be a slam dunk.
So, I’ll say I think Andrew Breitbart was correct. We need to win the culture war but up until today we haven’t even shown up on the battlefield. But there’s no time like the present so I do my part and I encourage everyone to join in and even invite new faces especially the young to participate. So, rightists of the world unite. Throw off your chains of Facebook and flock to orionscoldfire.com where the cool kids hang out.
18JUL2021 – OCF Update – Yalta II
So yesterday was a small get together with some folks on our side of the aisle. The guys came over with the wives. And Camera Girl and I hosted a barbecue and food fest. One of the guys is really expert at grilling rib-eye steaks. And he did the honors to a tee. To her credit Camera Girl bought the biggest, tenderest steaks despite her anger at the outrageous prices. She is a frugal woman which is good since I’m a notorious wastrel. Between the various hors d’oeuvres, desserts and side dishes I ate myself into a semi-coma.
But it was worth it. It was a great time. We barely mentioned politics and instead spent the time catching up on personal stuff. I enforced the segregation by sex. It was the boys on this couch and the girls on that one. And that was how nature intended it to be. Of course I always keep one ear pricked up in case Camera Girl starts spreading seditious propaganda against me. She is a mutinous wench. But she behaved herself for the most part.
So today we’ll catch up on stuff we put aside for the party prep but things will go smoothly now. Speaking meteorologically the endless torrential rain has continued I’ll have to drain another 3 or 4 inches of rain from yesterday and last night. Between the pounding rain and the lightning and thunder, the dogs are demoralized and despondent which seems okay by me but Camera Girl is sad. The hounds are her babies and she dotes on their every need. Bah!
I think I’ll do some movie reviews this week. There’s something to be said about being happy. Yesterday reminded of that. Sure it’s important to fight back against the Leftist Losers but you’ve got to make time to live your life too. A friend said I should review another Nick Cage movie called “Pig.” Apparently Cage is a man of the land in this movie and he uses a pig to hunt truffles for sale to rich people. Somehow he is wronged by someone. Hopefully he goes on a rage-fueled rampage of vengeance against someone or other. Well, that’s what I hope anyway. But we’ll see.
So stay tuned I should have content up today.

A man so various, that he seemed to be
Not one, but all mankind’s epitome;
Stiff in opinions, always in the wrong,
Was everything by starts, and nothing long;
But, in the course of one revolving moon,
Was chemist, fiddler, statesman, and buffoon.

What Would It Look Like If We Drained the Deep State Swamp?
After more than a decade of the FBI and the alphabet agencies routinely using illegal intel on Americans to control us, I wondered what it would be like to put a stop to it. So, this is a thought experiment because, let’s face it, what we’re talking about is as theoretical as contemplating faster than light space travel.
First off, who could do it? We saw Donald Trump successfully stopped in his attempts to even install a functioning attorney general. Twice! So, I guess the first question is would a president on his own be able to clean out the intelligence agencies? Would he need supermajorities in the Congress and a friendly Supreme Court?
Actually, I don’t think he would. What he would need is the military on his side. Because I think the only thing that could bring these agencies to heel is the threat of military force. If the FBI saw a brigade of US soldiers backed up by a tank or two, I think they’d stand down.
And that is what I’d suggest is the way to do it. My guess at a plan is to announce to the country that I am demanding the resignation of the top three tiers of organization of the Justice Department, the FBI, the CIA, the NSA and the rest of the intel agencies and I would warn them that if they didn’t comply within a day, they would be escorted out by armed troops.
Then I would appoint some interim personnel to dig down and eliminate anyone who wouldn’t immediately cooperate with the new authority being established. Following that I’d find any existing personnel who would be willing to provide information on the “Resistance.” And I would quickly move onto prosecuting the people responsible for the heinous events of the last few years.
After that I’d say the priority would be to pull the teeth of the beast. The Patriot Act needs to be declared unconstitutional and the intelligence apparatus needs to learn again that American citizens actually have the freedoms enumerated in the Bill of Rights including the ones having to do with unlawful search.
By the way, I’m fully aware that the people who run these agencies will us every means within their control to destroy the people attempting to bring them down. Threats and leaks of embarrassing or criminal conduct are sure to be used. I wouldn’t be surprised if assassination were to be used. After all the CIA specializes in that sort of thing.
What kind of a man would have the wherewithal to implement such an action? First of all, he would need a team. Whoever is selected to be the attorney general must be willing to stand up against the threats and coercion that will be thrown at him. It’s obvious that Trump’s first attorney general Jeff Sessions was cowed by pressure that was brought to bear against him. My guess is that they had embarrassing or criminal evidence against him and used it to force him to give up control of the Justice Department to the office holders that Obama had in place.
He’ll also need IT resources to investigate the tangled and troubling data collection capabilities that the agencies and the tech companies have assembled. That will be a monumental job.
And finally, it will require taking back control of the borders and identifying all the illegal aliens residing in the country. These individuals are the real threat to our security. If a terrorist threat appears that is where it will come from. The FBI and CIA should be concentrating on non-citizens and using the high-tech gadgetry they possess to preventing the next Sept. 11 attack coming from foreign agents, not spying on innocent Americans whose only sin is not being Democrats.

But far more numerous was the herd of such,
Who think too little, and who talk too much.

16JUL2021 – OCF Update – Busy as a Bee
Camera Girl is a harsh mistress. Like some kind of antebellum field slave I’m in the trenches finishing up my chores. What I have discovered is no matter how many times you buy a tool if you need it you’ll find it has disappeared. This is the second time in a week I’ve needed a 5/8″ socket and it’s been gone. I think I’ll buy two dozen of them and sprinkle them around the house like seeds on a field. Maybe they germinate and a 5/8″ socket tree will grow for me.
I’ll try to get back to work on the site later today but even tomorrow will be effected because of the barbecue. Apologies and hand wringing.
