It will need more than the Nineteenth Amendment to convince me that there are no differences between men and women, or that legislation cannot take those differences into account.

Hunkering Down for the Second Half of Bidencrash
In November we’ll have a diversion as the careers of all those RINOs and Dems get flushed down the toilet by the mid-term paroxysm of voter rage. That will give us through Christmas to savor the schadenfreude and contemplate all the judges Biden will not get approved.
But in January as we look at the cost of the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, we hosted there won’t be that much to feel thankful for. As the saying goes, we’ll all be getting a little hungrier next year. I’ve already heard that the property taxes here in Dunwich will be up a good bit and the cost of food and just about everything else will be surging very soon. And energy and transportation costs will become horrific.
But that’s when the tough get going. Camera Girl and I have already started to consolidate different shopping trips to save on gas. And the last barbecue was burgers and dogs instead of ribeye steaks. Looking to next winter I’ve decided to make the ultimate sacrifice. I’m going to lower the thermostat from 72 (and sometimes 74) to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. I know what you’re thinking. Lots of people set it at 68 or even lower. Sure, but those people have ancestors who lived in Cimmeria and Ultima Thule. My people come from the sultry regions of the Mediterranean. In order to survive even 70 degrees in the winter Camera Girl and I will have to wear our snow apparel indoors. Who knows, we may even cut the cable this year. Of course, that won’t be such a savings as it seems. The packages that include phone, internet and cable don’t really go down all that much if you drop cable. But we’ll see. After all there’s nothing on and every little bit helps.
I was trying to think if there was any other savings, I could implement to weather this storm. I am contemplating taking a position in the Dunwich town government. There’s a part time position that would net me a few thousand dollars a year for what has been described as a few hours a week’s worth of work. That could be a worthwhile idea. But I hear there is an extremely annoying Democrat that would come along with the job and that would be bound to make my life more “interesting.”
And I have been on a diet for the last year or so. Unfortunately, it’s been working pretty well so by next year I won’t have anymore weight to lose and eating less won’t be the benefit it currently is. But knowing what a frugal shopper Camera Girl is I don’t doubt she has already started making buying decisions based on rising costs. In fact, I know she has. We recently planted a number of pepper plants in our garden because she informed me that peppers were now off the shopping list based on their current outrageous price. It would be a shame if our menu featured less and less fresh produce.
But that’s reality. I think back to when I was a kid and my parents were feeding a very large brood so vegetables were frozen peas and corn. And when things were really going badly there was some frozen spinach which for me was impossible to swallow. I even tried mixing it with mashed potatoes. But nothing made it palatable. So, I’ve got a long way to go before I’m anywhere near that level of wretchedness.
Of course, I’m so much better off than most folks out there that I feel silly even writing about making ends meet. I think of the young families I know who are really tightening their belts. The cost of feeding, clothing and housing a family is a crime. When that old idiot unleashed his war against petroleum, he doomed this country to runaway inflation and recession. We’ve got until 2025 before we can expect any relief. That’s a really long time to hang off a ledge by your fingernails. But when you have no choice, you do it. And hopefully four years of misery will be enough to convince even the stupidest Millennial that rainbows and unicorns are just things you tell toddlers stories about and not the basis for an economy.

16JUN2022 – Dunwich Complainer – Campaign Season
I attended the Dunwich Republican Town Committee (DRTC) meeting last night and it was all aflutter with excitement about prospects for electoral victory. Enormous dissatisfaction with taxation and economic hardship along with blatant partisan power grabs by the Democrats both locally and at the state level had convinced many of the committee members that this was the moment when the tide would turn and Dunwich would be delivered from the Democrats and a new order would prevail.
Needless to say, I sat in the back benches and kept quiet. The report to the committee on elections stressed that victory would be assured if we could just get our candidates through the approval process this week. All that was needed was the Selectman Interview and the fee payment. The committee responded with hearty applause and the candidates were welcomed to the floor to say a few words. These four men were new to the community but enthusiastic about taking their places as selectmen and guiding Dunwich to a new day. Their spokesman displayed their application paperwork with attached checks and more applause broke out. This further enthused the spokesman and he went on to say that the interview was scheduled to take place at this meeting and the interviewer would be the First Selectman. The spokesman read from a card and had some difficulty with the First Selectman’s name, “Cuh Thu Luh or something? Must be Samoan I guess.”
Silence descended on the crowd and I shrank even lower in my seat and edged over to the emergency exit. At that moment First Selectman Cthulhu squeezed his bulk through the bulging auditorium double doors and ponderously plodded up to the dais. Without a word he snatched up the application forms from the candidate spokesman in one hand and with his other arm he funneled the candidates into his mouth and noisily chewed, crunched, mumbled and swallowed the screaming men down his voracious gullet. After one fairly loud and malodorous belch he turned around and plodded back out of the auditorium. As he reached the doors his booming voice was heard to say, “I’ll have these checks deposited in the Dunwich Rainy-Day Fund later today.” This latter reference was slightly insulting. The Rainy-Day Fund was the First Selectman’s euphemism for his whiskey allowance account.
The rest of the meeting was slightly more subdued. It was agreed by one and all, that electoral gains were probably not in the cards for 2022 but that the steering committee would go to work immediately drafting a strongly worded rebuke against the First Selectman for interfering in the internal affairs of the DRTC. It was also unanimously decided not to publicly distribute this rebuke but maintain it as an attachment to the meeting minutes and password protect it. After smelling salts and sedatives had been distributed to the women members and some of the less stalwart men a motion was passed to concentrate all of the committee’s time and energy to making the Labor Day Jamboree the best goldarned jamboree the town had ever had. It was also agreed unanimously that future meeting would be held in a venue that lacked double doors.

If the Jan 6th Investigation TV Coverage Was a Show It Would Be Cancelled Already
The Dem’s Much-Hyped Jan. 6 Hearings Are A Flop: I&I/TIPP Poll
Many question the Jan. 6 Committee’s integrity due to its highly partisan, anti-Trump composition.
Only 21% of the public are very confident that the committee is acting in good faith. And 55% are unconvinced there’s any there there.
Guess I’ll get back to my reruns of Firefly. If anyone needs me I’ll be in my bunk.
15JUN2022 – Another One Bites the Dust – Tom Rice Primary-ed Out of Existence
Tom Rice, one of the Republicans who voted to impeach Donald Trump lost his primary election for re-election to challenger South Carolina state Rep. Russell Fry who was endorsed by Trump.
As I’ve made abundantly clear I am a vindictive jerk who sees pay back as a very important part of life. But just to show just how stupid this Rice guy is, look at who he brought in to help his re-election campaign. Paul Ryan and Chris Christie!
Rice’s race has received national attention, in part because of Trump’s rally in the district. But Rice himself invited out-of-state Republicans to stump with him, such as former House Speaker Paul Ryan and ex-New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, amplifying his Trump record.
Look, this guy is obviously a hack and a loser. He’s not Mitt Romney stupid but given time and money he might have reached those exalted heights. So let’s think of this as a mercy killing. Well, we’re getting closer and closer to the election and that list of ten Republican Congressmen who voted for impeachment is getting shorter and shorter. As the primary season ends I’ll do a review and we’ll savor the schadenfreude as we say goodbye to them one last time.
Adios Tom.
