Rights are an invention. Humans have no natural rights. We have what we can defend. No more. They are priviliges we have concocted for our society.

What good did human “rights” do for those murdered, raped and tortured by Hamas? Those who elected to jump to their deaths on 9/11 rather than waiting for the flames to take them? The citizens of Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Of Dresden? Auschwitcz and Buchenwald? A right is an inalienable thing. Strangers, mother nature, other groups and even your own government can and will violate your “righrs” at a whim. That is why enshrining the “right” of the People to keep and bear arms was so genius. An armed populace does not docilely board rail cars for concentration camps. But unless militantly guarded, that “right” is also doomed. Many Democrats are all for repealing the 2d Amendment.

If you do not jealously guard your “rights” and defend them with zeal and tenacity you will surely lose them. Life? Liberty? Both can be rescinded on a whim by humans, bears or earthquakes. Pursuit of happiness? That is a state of mind. Toss me in a dungeon or sit me upon Persian pillows with servants to attend my every need. I cannot be stopped from pursuing happiness, although there is no guarantee I will find it.

Sounds ok to me. I am Germanic on dad’s side and Blackfoot on mom’s side. Of course there are various flavors melted into both sides. Dad’s side brought war brides home with them occasionally. Mom’s side has a small dash of Irish. She said an Irish mountain man couldn’t outrun one of her female ancestors. Dad’s side has a dash of Scottish and two dashes of undetermined Native American blood.

As a halfbreed I’ve experienced both acceptance and rejection from both races. Me and my brother look more like dad and sis looked more like mom. Go figure. So some natives think I’m an apple (Red on the outside and White inside) while some Palefaces considered me ro be another Red Nigger. Ya just have to let it roll off your back.

Being in both camps, most Black guys accepted me. After all, very few of them are African Black and have some Honky in their family trees. Other mixed folks get along as well. Very few Americans can claim pure ancestry if they’ve been in the US more than 3 generations. Even those who do so claim would likely be surprised by a DNA test. As soon as the Mayflower set sail from England people were fooling around ‘tween decks. Humans will fornicate with just about anybody. Even Strom Thurmond had a Black mistress for decades and a child with her.

So us mutts have a proud heritage of our own. We tend to be healthier due to a thing called hybrid vigor. Embrace your varied ancestry. After all, there’s nothing you can do about it.

As for the nation, I believe we need more Whiteish babies. Also we need to eject all the illegals who have bum rushed the border to provide Democrats with more voters and brown shirts. After all, look what happened to a good deal when the Palefaces were let in 416 years ago at Jamestown.

I also believe as the Founders did. Only those with a stake in the election should vote. No letting people with no property voting to raise property taxes. The masses will vote themselves bread and circuses as they did in ancient Rome and are doing so today. They can demand spending on their support by wealth redistribution, which is fancy robbery. When you rob from Peter to pay Paul, you can always count on Paul’s vote. AOC once said that taxes are the price you pay for living in a civilized country. Wrong. Taxes are the bribe you pay to stay out of prison.

Hi Arthur,

I agree that these ideas of rights are ours in the West, really the Anglo-Saxon West. They are the product of a particular time and place and most of us in the West no longer understand them much less the invaders. I also agree that there is such a thing as reality and it is important to discuss what that reality is. Our worldviews aren’t really that far apart.

Zman is big on western tradition which is great but he certainly values some tradition above other tradition (I know that’s not a surprise). Zman’s post disturbed me enough that I bookmarked it (see Survival of Rights). I think this quote lays it out well:

The thing they will not find among the decaying buildings, rusting vehicles and collapsed bridges will be piles of human rights. They will not open a door of some oddly preserved building and find a bunch of skeletons who had found shelter along with their sacred human rights. In fact, they will probably find no trace of human rights or any discussion of the concept. Given that most of our knowledge is now digital, these sorts of things will be impossible to detect.

The main reason for this is human rights do not exist. They are a thing that humans invented late in the history of mankind. People say that human rights are real and point to various authorities to support the claim, but rights are not real things. They exist only as a figment of our imagination, like the concept of lust. No other species has this concept so it is possible the aliens will not understand it either. It will be as alien to them as our entirely made up concept of human rights.

Without individual rights liberty does not exist. Personal liberty is my tradition and I will do everything in my power to keep it.

Guest Contributor – ArthurinCali – 05DEC2023 – DR to CN Reply

I took Zman’s assertion that natural or individual rights do not exist as the affirmation that these concepts originate in Western Civilization, and are not universal. Throughout my military career traveling the globe, this resonated with me as our ideas are just that – ours. One would receive blank stares from Indonesian bush folks if you began to try and explain these. This is why the dilution of Western countries by mass immigration (invasion, really) puts these abstract conceptions of natural and individual rights at risk under our supposed Democracy. For example, look to the polls of Muslims in the US and UK who overwhelmingly agree with the notion of living under Sharia law if they could. Or how varied the customs, cultures and traditions are in the Middle East compared to the West.

My biggest appeal to the DR side is seeing the world as it is and not how people ‘wish’ it were. This means that differences should be acknowledged and a sane and serious approach to societal ills should be employed in the areas of crime, immigration, and the well-being of the citizens in our nation.

Guest Contributor – Glenn W – 05DEC2023 – CN to DR Discussion

The dissident right (DR) certainly has an appeal to anyone who has watched the disintegration of American society and culture over the last sixty years (I am currently 62 years old). I found the DR critique of many of the United States current problems to be very insightful. In the end though, I think the proposed DR solutions to our problems will cause more problems than they solve.

I agree that Heritage Americans have been reviled and treated with a hatred that has surprised me. The question is: is that hatred solely an ethnic hatred? I would say that it isn’t. “White people” are strongly associated with being Christian. I don’t think that’s particularly true anymore but that is the stereotype and lefties love them some stereotypes. The BLM website at onetime listed both stable marriage between a man and a woman and deferred gratification as being examples of white privilege. No, those are examples of Christian morality. Of course ethnic differences are used as a wedge to fracture our society and it has been wildly effective.

Can different ethnicities live side by side peaceably? I don’t see why not in theory but in practice it may no longer be possible. The well has been poisoned and there may be no way back to what we were, the old culture looks to be gone. What is the DR solution then? After giving it a lot of thought I think the DR has settled on some type of ethnic caste system. One set of laws for thee and one for me. Anyone who believes in objective standards of right and wrong (that apply to all people) will find that to be a real problem. I know I do.

I would also like to ask: how should ethnicity be defined? Even in the founding of the United States the English weren’t as homogeneous as we’d like to imagine (see Albion’s Seed). Add in all the immigration that has already happened and can’t be reversed, it’s a hopeless mess. Lines will have to be drawn in the new system but no one will say how this will happen.

The thing that finally tore it for me is when Zman declared that there is no such thing as “rights.” Declaring rights to be an abstract concept that don’t actually exist, he dismissed them out of hand. If there is no such thing as individual rights then there is no such thing as personal liberty. Everyone nowadays seems to want to put a leash on me. Zman’s statement reminded me of a quote by communitarian Alasdair MacIntyre:

“From this it does not of course follow that there are no natural or human rights; it only follows that no one could have known that there were. And this at least raises certain questions. But we do not need to be distracted into answering them, for the truth is plain: there are no such rights, and belief in them is one with belief in witches and in unicorns.”

― Alasdair MacIntyre, After Virtue: A Study in Moral Theory

I am not familiar with the work of Professor Özkırımlı but the title of his book seems to indicate that his is a “critical theory.” This country is dying from too much Hegelian theory, do we really need more?

Guest Contributor – ArthurinCali – 04DEC2023 – Civic Nationalist to Dissident

I used to believe in civic nationalism and the idea of the global populace buying a ticket to the (American) story and ideals. Funnily enough, around the time I held these beliefs was 30+ years ago in an America that had a firmly entrenched demographic majority of Heritage Americans. (Roughly 80% IIRC)

See, that’s kinda of the paradox of the idea of a successful nation operating under civic nationalism in that you still need a majority ethnic population who puts their full faith in the mythos of said nation’s founding, institutions, and ideals. Once it hits a certain fracturing of population and becomes majority-minority, with no one group asserting dominance – this gives rise to overt tribal tendencies. Diversity is not a strength. If it were, nations like Japan and China would be importing as many diverse groups as possible to get an edge on the global economic competition.

Still, if we lived in a reality based sane and serious nation that spoke the truth on differences a la Lee Kuan Yew’s Singapore, it could have worked. This would require media, academia and gov’t to cease the relentless attack on the historical figures actions and events that led to the creation of the USA. No, not celebrate outright the dark corners of a nation’s history (that all nations have, Western and non-Western), but understand that each apology, every condescending remark merely removes another brick of the foundation of American mythos and her founding.

This is part of how I found myself admitting more and more that I am a part of the Dissident Right. I will vote for Trump-not as a faithful belief that he will be our Red Caesar but more as a wrench into the leviathan machine that hates me and my people.

“Since all nations lay claim to a unique place in history and to certain boundaries, all national identities are exclusionary. In that sense, all nations are ethnic nations […] Brubaker elaborates on this, claiming that there are two different ways of mapping culture onto the ethnic-civic distinction. Ethnic nationalism may be interpreted narrowly, as involving an emphasis on descent. In this case, Brubaker argues, there is very little ethnic nationalism around, since on this view an emphasis on common culture has to be coded as a species of civic nationalism. If, however, ethnic nationalism is interpreted broadly, as ethnocultural, while civic nationalism is interpreted narrowly, as involving a cultural conception of citizenship, the problem is the opposite: ‘civic nationalism gets defined out of existence, and virtually all nationalisms would be coded as ethnic or cultural’. Even the paradigmatic cases of civic nationalism, France and America, would cease to count as civic nationalism, since they have a crucial cultural component.”

Guest Contributor – Glenn W – 02DEC2023 – Dissident Monarchists

Hi photog,

I’m a reviled civic nationalist just like you but you shouldn’t put more weight on successful predictions by the dissident right than they deserve. I realized in 2004-2006, when Republicans had the presidency and both houses of congress, that we were in deep do-do. With Republican control nothing changed. Literally, nothing changed. While I like to think I’m smarter than the average bear it doesn’t mean that I have a solution for all that ails the U.S. any more than the dissident right does.

Before I stopped following the Zman (please don’t think I have a grudge against him, I just know him better than most) he was reading a lot about Karl Marx and the early Russian communists. Zman was impressed by their sharp social criticisms; they did an excellent job of diagnosing the problems 19th century Europe was facing. The elephant in the room with the Marxists was their solution to these problems was horrific. Seeing a problem doesn’t mean you can solve it.

I hate to say it but a lot of what is happening in the U.S. right now reminds me of problems I used to associate with South America; a loss of the middle class and large slums. When I was younger I would wonder why the ruling classes in these countries didn’t do more to encourage the development of a middle class. As time passed I realized that the ruling classes in those countries liked things that way, they liked being an aristocracy that lorded it over the peasants. They had a class identity and not a national identity. I think that’s where the U.S. is now but the dissident right solution of moving toward monarchy is not a solution. All it will do is formalize the class distinctions we’re already seeing.

At least that’s how I see it.

Comment from TomD

I’m not certain I see that it is the far right moving to a monarchy. It seem that the current trend of the concentration of all power into the executive branch and the underlying administrative state would come closest to a de facto monarchy. And that looks to be a feature of a significant portion of the entire ruling class, regardless of party affiliation.

Please expand on the equation of far right to monarchy.

Reply by Glenn W

Hi Tom,

When I wrote the comment about monarchy I had in mind an argument that Zman has made on many occasions where he compares our modern democracy with a monarchy. Zman argues that being in the white hot spotlight of an election discourages any self respecting person from running in the first place. Over time the sane people are boiled off and only the most superficial people would consider running for election to any public office. This how we get congress critters like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes in office. He then compares the democratic clown show to a monarchy where the king has to keep the people happy or risk being toppled from power. That is an over simplification but not by much.

To be fair, Zman probably isn’t advocating for monarchy but he does consider it to be superior to any democratic system. What I think he actually advocates, without saying it in the open, is some form of commmunitarianism (for an introduction to what that is please read “The Communitarian Option”).

The common thread that runs throughout the dissident right, to use Zman’s term, is its antagonism to individualism. Zman constantly hits on the theme that the voting public is a bunch of morons who cannot be trusted to vote for enlightened self interest. Of course that is the principle that our founding is based on and why he disdains civic nationalists. The details of what exactly the dissident right would like to replace our system with are always vague but it won’t be a system where the hoi polloi are allowed to mess things up.

Guest Contributor – Chemist – 01DEC2023 – Biden’s Voters

Here is the person who will vote for Biden:
This is an old friend. A person who has worked union jobs their entire life.
They asked if I planned to retire anytime soon.
I replied that, had they asked me that in 2019 I would have told them I’d be retired now.
But since the last presidential election, my 401K is in the shitter and everything is a hell of a lot more expensive so retirement is not an option.
(I phrased it this way because I knew they were liberal.)
“Well, the market goes up and the market goes down.” was the reply.
I pointed out that this was the first time the market was down while inflation was skyrocketing.
They gave the standard talking point that inflation was down now.
I explained that the rate of inflation was down, but the prices had not come down and were substantially higher than they were 4 years ago.

They will still pull the lever for straight democrat, even though they live in a crime ridden shithole city that has been run by the democrats for over 50 years.
There are many of them.

Guest Contributor – ArthurinCali – 30NOV2023 – What Comes Next

To many Conservatives, Trump is a symptom of the overall problem of the GOP.

The schism between the established National Review/Con Inc./Open Border/Forever Wars GOP and Conservatives cannot happen soon enough. Whatever comes next cannot be worse than what is offered at this time.

Too many have lost patience with the GOP merely being the “shadow of Radicalism” and simping to the Left as mere loyal opposition.
