Focusing on the Foreground

All of us have to do a myriad of things to keep the plates spinning.  Hopefully 95% of this stuff goes right.  But 5% goes wrong and we need to clean up the mess and take our lumps and move on.  And while all of this is going on in the foreground, in the background evil lunatics are working ceaselessly to put an end to the America that provides the space in which we can hustle along to give our families the slightest taste of the good life.  We can have a week’s vacation at the beach.  We send our kids to the best college we can afford.  We own a home in a town where gangbangers don’t hunt down our kids in the streets.

So, this week we witness the Democrat party melting down because they can’t force their brain-dead figurehead to leave the presidential race.  And when that sideshow act gets stale, they try to eliminate his competition the old-fashioned way, with a “lone wolf” spotted an eight-shot head start at point blank range by the secret service.  And of course, once they fail, the Left declares it time to lower the temperature.  At least for today.

Today, Donald Trump picked J D Vance as his running mate.  Of the favorites listed I guess he’s probably the best choice.  The kabuki theater that is the Republican Convention will drone on until, I think Thursday when Trump gives his acceptance speech.  From what he’s said Trump has had a revelation.  Being spared death has convinced him that his message will be that he wants to unite the country.  Well, I don’t know how that can happen.  I think almost half the country wanted the shooter to succeed.  I mean, it’s admirable to want to unite America but I don’t think it’s one country anymore.  It’s not even two countries that tolerate each other.  It’s diametrically opposed enemies looking to get a permanent advantage in order to conquer the other.

So, while we struggle to keep the balls in the air, out of the corner of our eye we see this absurd pantomime that claims it’s “our democracy.”  Today they kept Morning Shmoe of the air.  He and his demented bride couldn’t be trusted not to start calling for Donald Trump’s blood on the day that Joe Biden was “brining down the temperature” by postponing the release of campaign commercials that probably feature Trump dressed up as Hitler.  Of course, Scarborough is hardly the only or even the most unhinged of the left-wing pundits.  Over the last couple of weeks Joy Reid at times has appeared to be close to an epileptic fit.  I have to assume if they’re allowing her on the air, she must be dosed with Thorazine or something stronger.

Well, as we slouch toward Election Day we are sure to see a lot of crazy things.  Will any of them be worse than the last couple of weeks?  I’d like to say no but I’d be a fool to do it.  If Biden’s numbers slip much lower, I wouldn’t be surprised by any crazy thing, up to and including a nuclear attack.  Joe Biden is demented and the people who pull his strings are various types of maniacs.  I want to believe that behind the scenes there are a few sane individuals that can keep the crazy people in check.  But I’m far from convinced of that.

I’ll tell you.  When I think about the biggest personal challenges I’m facing, and some of them are kind of daunting, I’m glad that I have them to keep me from thinking about this other stuff 24/7.  Because this is bedlam.

Trump on the Firing Line

So, I wanted to write a post on the assassination.  But I’m kind of at a loss.  Where to start?  Most of Donald Trump’s secret service detail looks like an aging, out of shape girl scout troop.  Then we have the anti-sniper unit, they must have been on a coffee break.  Eventually after the shooter emptied a magazine at the president, they got around to killing the guy on the roof in front of them.  I guess that was nice of them under the circumstances.  Then the press goes through some histrionics but their takeaway is that preventing retaliation by insane Trump followers is the most important mission of the security agencies.  Trump’s political enemies prosecute him in every jurisdiction where they can assemble a kangaroo court and then they hyperventilate on the television about him retaliating against them with lawfare if he wins.  What’s wrong with this picture?  We live in a permanent upside-down reality.

But we already know all this.  Basically, we are waiting to find out if Deep State will thwart the will of the people of this country and essentially prove that they can and will do whatever it takes to maintain control over our lives and enact their agenda, which is basically make us into serfs.  We’ve got four months more or less.  Maybe they’ll get lucky with the next psycho.  Maybe his aim will be better or his weapon a little more robust.  Or maybe Trump will survive to election day, and they’ll cheat him the way they did in 2020.  Or maybe they’ll let him win the election and then just stonewall his every attempt at reforming the system with crooked judges and bureaucratic obfuscation.  Who knows, they might have a more effective bioweapon this time or a deadlier RNA vaccine as a follow up.  But the chance of him fixing things seems remote.

Watching Trump on that podium and seeing his defiance after they came within an inch or two of blowing his head off, I was grateful that a man who didn’t have to put up with any of this madness cared enough about this country to try and fix the awful mess we’re in.  Trump is this enigma.  Trump is a businessman, or a salesman, or a huckster, or a con-man or a flim-flam artist depending on whether you like him or hate him.  But he’s definitely one thing.  He’s an American.  And I’m an American.  Now to a lot of people that word no longer has any meaning.  But to a lot of us it still does.  So, I recognize in Trump someone who is trying to save the world we used to live in.  He wants to stop the wholesale destruction of the way of life that we all loved and took for granted.

Now, at this point I’d give him considerably less than a fifty-fifty chance of saving this country.  He’s up against the Democrats, the Republicans, the Deep State, Wall Street, the rest of the globalists of the world and now the lunatics of the Left who want to blow his brains out.

I doubt he’ll win.  But I can’t doubt his courage.  He’s proven that under fire.

Attempted Assassination of Donald Trump

Above is a video of a witness who saw the shooter crawling up on the roof of a nearby building who got the attention of law enforcement and told them a sniper was on the building and they did nothing.

Well, the crazies are now out in full force.  At a rally in Pennsylvania Donald Trump appeared to be grazed by bullets as he was talking to the crowd.

So much for the peaceful, law-abiding leftists.

Cry Me Denial

I watched the Stephanopoulos interview.  Compared to how that midget would have grilled a Republican this was a lovefest.  But as carefully and as politely as he could couch the questions, he still tried to get Biden to admit that the public thinks he’s senile.  And because they believe this the polls are showing his support slipping.

But Biden would have none of it.  According to Joe the race is dead even.  He’s on track to beat Trump and he’s never been sharper.  He’s trotting the globe defeating tyrants, expanding democracy and swashbuckling his way into history.  And only the Almighty can tell him to quit.

I’m not a fan of Stephanopoulos.  I think he’s a detestable partisan rat pretending to be an objective journalist.  But it was painful to see how completely unwilling Biden was to admit to any problems at all.  His handling of the country.  The public’s perception of his mental state.  Or in his present position in the electoral polls.  In Joe’s eyes he’s the best man to run the country and the only man who can prevent Donald Trump from regaining the presidency.

I’m of two minds about this.  The part of me that witnessed the 2020 election results thinks that Joe knows the fix is in and he knows they can print out another million ballots in Philadelphia, Milwaukee and Detroit so everything is honkey-dory.  But the part of me that looks at the state of the country and can’t believe that even the Deep State wants this to continue, thinks that Joe is going to be carted off to the Cracker Factory in January 2025.

But either way it’s fascinating to see Joe Biden on display in all his deteriorating splendor.  His porcelain teeth shining bright in a mouth that can no longer produce clear English.  Near the end of the interview when, “Stephanopoulos asked the president bluntly how he would feel in January if Donald Trump ended up winning the election and his warnings about Trump and democracy came to pass. Biden replied: “I’ll feel as long as I gave it my all and I did the goodest job as I know I can do, that’s what this is about….””

Well, when your kids are two or three years old, goodest is a reasonable thing to say.  It shows a mind finding patterns in the formation of superlatives in English.  Past five I’d say it indicates a problem.  When used by a man running for the office of president of the United States, I’d say it’s a flashing red light.  He’s becoming a doofus.

To sum up the whole experience of watching the interview, it appears that the Left can’t get Joe Biden to jump off his campaign wagon.  And as things continue to unwind for his prospects, I have to admit I’m feeling a certain unbridled enthusiasm beginning to well up.  Sure, I know that anything can happen in the next four months.  And I know that absentee ballots can be printed at an incredible speed.

But even a “win” by Joe Biden at this point will be therapeutic.  How many people will be satisfied if the polls have Biden down by double digit in the swing states and he scratches out a win by a few thousand votes a week later?  I’m guessing almost no one.  And that would put to rest the myth of fair elections once and for all.  And to my mind that would be an acceptable conclusion to the whole populist experiment.  We’d know that dissent is forbidden.  And we could all give up the farce of voting every four years and do something useful instead.

But just imagine if Trump wins.  There would be a party that would go on for a week.  People would be dancing in the street and YouTube videos of Democrat voters wailing and gnashing their teeth would be playing on endless loops until the whole internet finally crashed.  Joe Scarborough and Rachel Maddow would have to be committed to lunatic asylums for electroshock therapy for a month just to stop them from screaming.

And I wouldn’t be able to stop smiling for a month.

The problems the Dems will have with shifting Joe into the backseat are as follows from my perspective
1. How do you keep the family that has benefitted so heavily from his position quiet, short of just erasing them.
2. How do you keep the donor blocks who bought into the political process giving more graft with only 10% for the big guy?
3. Who would be acceptable to the grifters, and yet still be morally malleable enough to go along with the trashing of America
4. How do you convince the undecided that this is at all in their best interest, and they should just brace for impact and go along for the ride, because it may be a short one but it will definitely be exciting.

Trump is not one of my favorite people, I personally do not like him, but I am voting for a president not a BFF. When he returns to office he needs to be a little more selective on who he puts in what position, and stop being so trusting that they will do the job he hired them for. It seems that in his term most of the people around him were not loyal to him, and several need to be registered as foreign provocateurs, rather than US citizens. The biggest thing in Trump’s favor is the fact that he did work for the betterment of America, and the American people rather than shipping boatloads of money to be laundered through crypto or Ukraine.
I hope the country as a collective whole realize that the Dems have no loyalty to them beyond ” What can you do for me today”, and the Republican party for the most part is a collective of spineless jellyfish so scared of being called mean or racist they will go along to get along, just please don’t call me names. We may need to develop a party that shockingly puts American interest in the forefront, and tells the globalist community to go take a flying leap at a rolling donut on a gravel driveway. The pan nationalist cabal that is demanding we sponsor the importation of the 3rd world to drain our resources, and change our demographic makeup is not doing this for the betterment of any nation that complies, and their end goal is reversion to savagery with themselves positioned at the safe walked off end of the jungle.

Comic Relief

So, the dust has begun to settle on Debate-Gate as many have begun to call it (well, anyway I just did).

Three quarters of the country now admit that Joe Biden’s skull is almost completely empty.  The other twenty five percent are waiting for space aliens and/or Elvis to explain Biden’s answers from that night to them in one syllable words of five letters or less.

And since Biden has dropped to six points behind Trump in the popular vote and even more in the swing state polls and since the evil party is indeed the evil party, we can assume that in a few weeks Kamala Harris will be the Democrat nominee.  And she will do this unencumbered by her even emptier skull.

And she might even “win” the election.  We know that absentee ballots are a powerful force in the right (wrong) hands.  So be it.

But all that being said, this has been a marvelous week.  Democrats have been howling and shrieking every day about how unfair it all is.  Today I listened as Lawrence O’Donnell explained how during a debate each candidate should have a staff available to answer the questions that the candidate doesn’t know the answer to.  He even said that the staff should answer the questions too.  He didn’t mention an option where the candidate doesn’t even show up to the debate but that does seem to be the next logical step in this progression.  I guess the end point would be dropping the concept of a president and just have competing bureaucratic teams (or maybe AI algorithms) running for office.

Another amusing point of panic is how can Kamala Harris be separated from the ticket without losing all the campaign money that is tied to either Biden or Harris.  Everyone had a favorite scenario for making Newsom or Whitmer or Pritzker or Lord help us, Michelle Obama the nominee without losing the black vote.  Of course, Obama or Senator Warnock, being black, would make that easier but the candidates they really want are Whitmer or Josh Shapiro who are respectively the governors of Michigan and Pennsylvania and thereby provide some boost in picking up those states that are currently leaning Trump.

So, the pundits are like Indiana Jones trying to replace the golden idol with the bag of sand without triggering the death trap with the giant boulder chasing Indie through the cave.  There is talk of making her a Supreme Court Justice (wow!).  Maybe she could be vice president again (wow!).  I don’t know.  I’d offer her a lifetime pass to the zoo and all the peanuts and cotton candy she can eat from now on.  Maybe they could throw in her very own electric yellow school bus.  She really likes those.

Anyway, the point is that the pain experienced by the Left has been downright exhilarating.  Listening to them cry and complain and bang their heads on their desks as Joe Biden is exposed as a mental patient has been the gift that keeps on giving.

Now this can’t go on forever.  Eventually the Left will figure out a way to put this behind them.  And when they do, they will come after Donald Trump like a flock of demented harpies; all fangs and venom.  But that’s alright.  That’s the status quo.  Hopefully that will be in August.  By then I’ll be prepared for that phase of the election farce.  Hideous things are bound to happen between then and November.  Horrible people do horrible things.  But they’ll never be able to take away, “We finally beat Medicaid.”  And that’s good enough for me.

Trump is a Point Ahead of Biden in New Jersey

New Jersey is a blue state.  If Trump is currently polling slightly ahead of Biden (41 – 40) I think that should be a blinking red danger signal for the Democrats.  We may be witnessing a major shift in the American public’s political calculus.  Maybe it’s as simple as “It’s the economy stupid.”

I thing the major headline should be Trump is only a point ahead, indicating the major league accumulation of negatives he has as ballast. I think that 80%+ of this ballast is the result of the unceasing histrionic media wide attack he has been undergoing since 2016. Repeat a lie often enough——

But the fact is that his image has been largely and permanently poisoned for close to 50% of the population. I know several people who just hate Trump. Question them as to why and you get nothing substantial, just blanket statements like, “Trump lies”. Push deeper about the specific lies and they don’t have anything. If they do have a specific “lie”, it typically an example of hyperbole, or exaggeration for effect. There is a huge and substantial difference in a fundamental lie like hiding Biden’s inability to perform the functions of his office and “I had the greatest economy in history”.

Coping with Biden and Overruling Chevron

The post-debate euphoria has finally worn off.  I’ve watched the various media and political operatives screech and croak in horror at the spectacle of Joe Biden’s cognitive flat lining.  And it was immensely gratifying.  I haven’t had this much fun since Election Night 2016.  Wonderful.  But now it’s time to put down the toys and look out into the cold, hard light of Saturday and move on.

It doesn’t appear that the Democrat elite has decided to pull the plug on Dementia Joe.  At least not yet.  Obama and Clinton have texted that Biden’s performance is just one of those things and everything will be status quo on the way toward glorious victory in November.  Well, good.  Leaving Joe in is the best thing that could happen for Trump.  There will be a small subset of voters who don’t care for Trump but are horrified by the prospect of a man as obviously cognitively damaged as Biden, in charge of the US military and other critical agencies of the government.  It’s got to give them pause wondering who is actually running the government instead of Biden right now.  So, this revelation has to boost Trump somewhat.  How much is the big question.  We should have some polls in a week or two.

I saw that the Supreme Court came out with a couple of rulings.  One is relevant to President Trump and other January 6th defendants.  It overrules charging them with obstruction of a government proceeding.  This will help a number of the defendants because this serious charge was the only felony for a number of the defendants.

The other decision is much more important for the country at large.  It overturned the so-called “Chevron deference.”  According to this 1984 ruling courts were forced to show deference to federal agencies when interpreting ambiguities in the law within their area of expertise.

“”Chevron is overruled. Courts must exercise their independent judgment in deciding whether an agency has acted within its statutory authority,” Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in the decision.

The court’s conservative justices were in the majority, with the liberal justices dissenting. The ruling will make it easier for judges to second-guess actions by regulators, empowering challengers to regulations across federal agencies.

Business, conservative and libertarian groups cheered the decision, saying it eliminates a rule that requires courts to favor the government in all manner of challenges to regulation. The litigation was part of what has been termed the “war on the administrative state,” an effort to weaken the federal agency bureaucracy that interprets laws, crafts federal rules and implements executive action.”

Now this is brilliant.  With the right courts and executive branch oversight many overreaches by agencies like EPA and the IRS can be challenged in court and reversed.  This is a wonderful result.

So that is the world today.  A mixture of progress and regress.  In one direction we see the Supreme Court correcting past mistakes.  In another rogue judges and prosecutors serve up lawfare against the enemies of a demented president of the United States.

Well, it’s not as if we’re all not used to the spectacle.  The encouraging sign is that more of it is happening out in the open and more and more normies are getting an eyeful.

Scranton Joe Screws the Pooch

Wow!  I guess politically, I’m not an average American.  So, I can’t say what the rest of America thought of that performance.  But by my reckoning Joe Biden got his clock cleaned good and thorough.

Now this may have no effect either on opinion polls or election results.  After all, those things can be arranged independent of what actual people think.  But, wow.

Now obviously Joe was doped to the gills and he had been coached on all the questions that CNN was going to ask.  But it didn’t matter.  He still looked and sounded like a re-animated corpse.  He even managed to have the brain freeze moment we were waiting for.  He was stumbling through one of his rehearsed set speeches when he lost the thread of what he was trying to say.  He stopped for five or ten seconds and then just made some non sequitur to fill the dead air.

I’ll give him credit.  He didn’t fall down or befoul himself.  But it couldn’t have been much worse if he had.

So, the other side.  Trump hammered him the whole time.  The border, inflation, crime.  Over and over again especially with the crime caused by illegal aliens.  He was relentless.  And he was disciplined.  No matter what the question from the moderator, Trump concentrated on whichever topics were scoring the most points.  He was like a boxer who has opened up a cut on his opponent.  He kept after that weak spot and peppered it with jabs.  Eventually he settled on illegal aliens murdering Americans and displacing Americans from their rightful benefits; social security, Medicaid, housing for veterans, jobs.

By the end of the debate Biden actually got a little more lucid.  But by then it was too late.  Every Democrat big wig had gone into full panic mode and was calling up the FBI and the CIA demanding that they blackmail Biden into dropping out of the race “voluntarily.”

So, this was really, really bad for Joe.

Well, will he drop out?  I hope not.  With a performance this shockingly bad he might be able to make the election fraud-proof.  If all of a sudden Trump wins New Jersey and Virginia it doesn’t matter anymore if he loses Pennsylvania.  So, I’m hoping that Joe hangs in there.

But will there be a second debate?  At this point I kind of doubt it.  I don’t think Joe’s handlers want to risk another fiasco like tonight.  So maybe they claim some beef about Trump saying mean things and refuse the September meeting.

And I’ll have to at this point thank Donald Trump for giving me one of the best laughs I’ve had in months.  Trump was disciplined and for him, moderate.  He didn’t go over on his time and he didn’t shout while his microphone was muted.  He just methodically undermined Joe Biden’s whole term as president.  And most enjoyably he called Joe Biden an habitual liar.  And that is the most effective attack that you can end with when attacking Biden.  Because it’s true and it’s common knowledge.  And because inevitably you can point to a lie, he’s making right there at the time you’re talking to him.  He’s that constant.

So, by tomorrow morning polls will be circulating and it should be a crap-fest for Scranton Joe.  Not even Uncle Bosie can save him now.  Even Corn Pop would tell him it’s time to hang up the cap and bells.  But please Joe hang in there.
